Between Britain and China, one is at western and one is at eastern.Although they are have difference , they still have seam parts.I will about government and education .
Firstly,Britain is the developed country and China is the developing country.Since Industrial Revolution, Britain is the first developed country of the world, and it also is the capitalism country. At that time China still control by Qing dynasty. Between Britain and China, When Britain used gunpowder made the gun, China used gunpowder made the fireworks. When Britain used compass had travel around the world, China used compass to check the location of a house or tomb, supposed to have an influence on the fortune of a family. At Industrial Revolution the mechanization replace
There may be hundreds of years’ difference between the two but they share some common traits of imperialism. Just like the Europeans coming to Africa to take resources for trading and spreading Christianity, now the Chinese are there to mine resources for their own personal gain. Also, they both used slave labor to gain the resources. Back then the Europeans would take the Africans out of their homes and force them to work in the plantations as far as Brazil and the Americas. Now a day the Chinese are imported their own people to work in these mines for little money with almost no time off. Though they are no longer exploring the continent anymore they are still searching for new spots in those countries for valuables.
The question about why did British have a head start of the Industrial Revolution is addressed by a very different view, by the author. The author views this by analyzing the two most advanced cultures; China and England. The reader sees that colonial resources and overcoming the biological old regime played in the favor of England. The Britons used their colonial resources against the Asians; which is from India, China, and even Japan, inclining the global economic standard, power balance towards the Britons.
Some similarity between the histories of China and the Ottoman Empire during the nineteenth century is that both empires were the center of fulfilled vibrant civilizations. Also, there were semi-colonies within the informal empires of Europe. China and the Ottoman Empire was not successfully when it came to creating a strong industrial base.
The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain for several reasons. By the mid-1700's, the country had become the world's leading colonial
Over the period of 1792 to 1990, England and China's relationship drastically changed because of the trading of opium. China didn’t want to trade opium, but it would mess up England's economy if they were no longer trading opium. China also started to feel the need to westernize, unlike before. China’s need for westernization released tension between the two powers, causing a change in their relationship. China and England's relationship was continous from trade. Even though it was unbalanced in the beginning, it was never cut off. During this time period, in other parts of the world, industrialization was starting to take place. England was one of the leading countries in this age of Industrialization. England used their advanced technology
Technology you use and see all around you were first invented in Medieval China, then later reinvented in the Modern World. Back in Medieval China, The ruling changed a lot. From aristocracy (ruling from wealthy families) to meritocracy (ruling from people that proved their worth for the government), they were all tested from the civil service examination. During this time, trading/commerce entered as a main business. It made increased the prosperity and wealth of people. With the many new items traded in and the wealth people had, possibilities for new inventions were made. China made a difference to the Medieval and Modern World with its inventions.
Although modern day economic conditions are vastly different when compared to the economic conditions that the British had while they were industrializing, China most closely resembles Britain as it entered into the industrial revolution. Today, China is one of the fastest growing industrializing economies in the world (GDP growth rate ~8%) and can credit this to their shift from an agrarian economy to an industrial economy, their abundance of natural resources, cheap labor, and rapid urbanization.
When looking at China and England; the similarities between them are easily observable. The Industrial revolution was a time of drastic change and transformation from hand tools, and handmade items to machine manufactured and mass produced goods. This change generally benefited society, but also hindered it as well. The main similarities between China’s and England child labor issues were that the numbers of children working increased, work hours were long, working conditions was poor, laws and enforcement were inadequate, and also they have work to increase the income for their poor family. One of the similarities in England’s and china industrial revolution was that they had children working.
Great Britain met the previously stated necessary conditions for becoming a capitalist society. Due to gradual social changes, feudalist land systems eventually dissipated and the monarch gave power to parliament where some merchants lobbied for free trade. Furthermore, as time passed societal views on lending systems changed and a banking credit system would eventually be created. New technology such as the knitting machine emerged and later Britain would be the first to industrialize as well. This would further assist the nation in becoming a dominant figure in the world market once the Industrial Revolution fully took off. Similarly to other nations during this time, Britain was prospering from colonies and slave labor. With their superior navy and naval transportation system Britain could trade goods all over the world safely and with ease with goods they did not have to invest a tremendous amount of capital into. Also, After Britain eliminated the Dutch competition they further improved as an economic powerhouse and immersed themselves in the global market. Finally, after Great Britain’s Civil War land prices went down which enabled further investments in land and commerce. This led to an increase in agricultural production and the necessary agricultural surplus required by a capitalist society to form. These factors combined allowed the
The Industrial Revolution was an example of technological advancements that caused change of world order between the Western and Eastern civilizations. The Industrial Revolution actually began in Britain during the 18th century which was said to be unplanned. However, China was believed to be on the edge of the Industrial Revolution as early as the 1200’s but by the
For Pomeranz, the first notable difference is the presence of large and readily accessible coal deposits in Britain. Britain was lucky in that it had plentiful coal deposits close to its industrial heartland, whereas China did not have easy access to its coal deposits. While not a completely defeating factor, in not having easy access to coal, China is already set up for less industrial success when compared to European countries such as
China and the UK both consist of very different systems of government. China is ruled by a communist party of government; The People’s Republic of China, whilst the UK is part of a monarchy ruled by the ‘royal family’, with Queen Elizabeth II currently being the Queen of England. (The Royal Household Resources, n.d.)
A history rich country, China stands as one of the most ancient civilizations that modern humanity knows of. The oldest recorded dynasty was the Xia which was at its peak around 1800BCE. Dynasty after dynasty came next, over twenty different dynasties have risen and fallen in Chinese history. The last being the Qing Dynasty which ended in 1911 and ultimately led to the rise of the People’s Republic of China which was founded in 1949 as a Communist Party. This gave rise to their economy which is to this day getting stronger and stronger. Through the parties many reforms and opening-up policy, China has flourished economically. The class system is also comprised of four sections, the highest is the Scholars and Government Officials, next the Farmers and peasants, then the Artisans and finally the lowest class is comprised of Merchants. The system is based upon who does the most for society and who produces the most. Throughout thousands of years of feudal governing the Chinese have created and invented beautiful painting and machines. Some of the most renown inventions are known as the “Four Great Inventions of Ancient China”, which includes Printing, Papermaking, Gunpowder and the Compass. “The four great inventions of ancient China-are significant contributions of the Chinese nation to world civilization.”, (FMPRC.GOV. "Four Great Inventions of Ancient China." Four Great Inventions of Ancient China. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Nov. 2016.) all four inventions contributed immensely to
To answer the question, it is important to understand the various factors that affected control and differences between India and Britain. Did Britain control all of India, sections of India around the early 18th century were controlled by other european powers such as France, portugal and Spain. France had established control over Yanam and Karakal on the east coast. Whereas portugal's territories were limited to Goa, Daman and Diu around the mid 18th century. In addition, after these forces were expelled from India the British empire did not have complete dominion over India. By 1857 Britain had direct control over most of India. Britain had undergone an industrial revolution during the 1760s which allowed them to modernise more efficiently.
When discussing DE, the UK exemplifies both the history and success of DE because the industrialization Revolution (IR) led the UK to pioneer the development of DE. Similarly, when discussing DE development in China, the UK is the indispensable model of DE and the country to appreciate. China could not have started DE in 1970s without the support and example of the UK’s DE system.
