What would happen if you shot a gun in space? Well, there have been different theories on what could happen, but none of them have actually been proven. Therefore, it’s just a bunch of different scientific theories going around. Although scientists have been using laws, such as Newton’s Law, that doesn’t make any of these theories correct. Space is an oxygen-free vacuum, but guns can still be shot. Fires will not burn in space, but the bullet will still be fired out the gun. The reason it does not need air to fire is because the gun powder and the cartridge explode which causes it to create a lot of hot gas which shoots out the bullet. The variation between Earth and space is that it will leave a different shape of the resulting smoke trail. In space, the smoke trail will look like an expanding sphere. According to life science, they believe the outcome would be shooting stars. Now, the majority of the population would find it funny if they were told there would be shooting stars if you shoot a gun in space but that could be theoretically true. Shooting a gun in space would also cause you to see shooting stars in the daytime or nighttime. This would happen because the …show more content…
To be able to shoot yourself the gun would have to be angled horizontally. Shooting at this angle would cause the bullet to circle around the planet and come right back to where it came from. The only way this would not work is if the aim was not perfect. However, since there is no air to slow it down, the range of the gun would be infinite. If the gun is shot straight towards the orbit it can possibly deorbit. According to Newton’s third law the force exerted on the bullet will create an equal and different force on the gun as well as the person shooting the gun. Having very few atoms will cause the person to start moving backward, but you wouldn’t be able to notice this was even
This could never happen because gun powder is used to create an explosion which requires oxygen. The space shuttle had crash landed, releasing all the oxygen from within the shuttle. In turn a gun would be rendered useless in space. There is new ammunition than can be fired in space, but the movie also failed to show that outcome correctly as well. If a gun was shot in the vacuum of space, the gun and whatever is holding it would be launched backwards just as the bullet is launched forwards due to there being no gravity to holding anything in place.
On daily basis we see attacks or suicides carried out using guns flood our newspapers or morning news yet no strict action or concerns are being put forward. GVA (2018) estimated that the number of lives lost since the beginning of the year due to gunshots in the US is approximately 3532 of which 151 were children below 12 years of age and 6160 injuries. Banning guns from being used by people other than forces will highly reduce the number of people who lose their lives due to gunshots.
It can be used for recreation, or for self-defense. Like a chain saw, it can hurt its owner if the owner is careless or stupid with the tool. But the modern firearm is safe. The gun cannot load itself nor fire itself, that why there is this famous quote that goes like this “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”.
The bullet will so receive damage itself causing it to be deformed and sometime disintegrate depending on the target. Damage to the human body varies depending on where the bullet penetrates. Muscle will offer more resistance to the bullet versus fatty tissue or an organ such as the liver. If a bullet penetrates your lungs it will cause them to collapse. Bullets have also been known to bounce off a person’s ribs. Depending on what clothes you are wearing, like a heavy thick sheep skin jacket will have a tendency to help slow down the bullet but won’t stop it from penetrating the human body. There is no set rules of what will happen when you are shot. The closer the range to the intended target the more damage you will do. This is one reason suicide via gunshot wounds are so big (Warlow 109).
More gun laws would have a negative effect on shootings and crime rates. Stricter gun laws would not prevent people from getting guns, would not prevent killings, and would not fare well with the people of the United States. Strict gun laws would only prevent law-abiding citizens from getting guns, and criminals would still be able to get them. Crime and shooting rates do not go down after increase in gun-restrictive laws are passed. People in the United States have the right to defend themselves from harm, and the 2nd Amendment right to own firearms.
Guns have numerous uses besides killing your fellow man. Hunting is a big reason to own a weapon. Across the country, people hunt game; small and big. Some people might see this as a cruel act, but in most states the White Tailed Dear is amazingly overpopulated. Not many complain when you kill a cow to eat a hamburger, so it shouldn't be an issue to go hunting. People also enjoy shooting guns at targets. You can do long range sniping with rifles, shoot clay pigeons in the air with shot guns, or shoot targets with a hand gun. Each hobby is completely harmless, and enjoyable. Along with the recreational activities that firearms make possible, there is self defense. Let's face it - if you're in your home at night with an intruder in the house, who will act faster, 911 or a firearm in the hands of a trained user? The answer is obvious. In an emergency situation, a firearm is almost an essential. One might argue that the odds of you being held up in your own house are slim; well so are the odds of a gun related death. If a gun user is properly trained, a gun can and would protect people in case of an emergency.
A gun is just a tool and simply does as it was made to do. It was made to protect the user and help the user survive, which in many cases is
Their would be less or no more mass-murders because it would not let people who try to buy a lot of ammunition who have a bad thing on their record. Guncontrol.procon.org says,” high-capacity magazines that were purchased were used 50% in the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012.” This means that people who bought high capacity magazines didn’t go through a thorough background check. That is why we need a thorough background check , so it can reduce mass shootings. Now to my next
National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.
Four out of every ten Americans own a gun; which leads to the perception that America has returned to the Wild Wild West. In fact, it is to be assumed that where guns are present, there is a higher risk of drug abuse, crime, and accidents. About 31,224 people died from gun violence in 2007. In just one day, 268 people were shot
A gun can provide protection and safety or be used with malicious intent. Guns have such a powerful influence over society that we can't escape hearing or reading about shootings on the news and social media. But despite how you feel about them, we can all agree that no child deserves to die because someone was being careless with a gun.
There are those people that think that if there were no firearms then there wouldn't be any violent crimes. In 2011 there were close to 33,000 Americans that were victims of gun-related deaths. According Brady campaign an average of 268 people are shot every day; in America that is 97,820 people a year. An average household with a gun is 22 times more likely to be used to kill someone or severely injure a person in a domestic homicide, suicide, or unintentional
First,i think using long-range shooting systems would broke the care ethics. In the past, hunter cannot conquer the issue of calculating the pull of gravity on a bullet traveling farther nor mention the harder-to-calculate effect of wind. We can keep a balance between human beings and animals. With the development of the new system, Long-range-shooting system turn hunters into snipers by taking the guesswork out of calculating the effects of gravity and wind on a bullet traveling as far as a mile. Of about 14 million rifle hunters in America, about 5% are using
Whether a gun is used for self-defense or not, it’s primary purpose is to hurt someone. According to Nowicki and Kopel (2008), when one is attacked by someone or is involved in a crime, first thing in mind is to take action and get that person away even if it means hurting them. In addition, both parties agree a person should know when is appropriate to use a gun. Dershowitz (2012) states that guns should only be used in the military or by law enforcement and Nowicki and Kopel also state that guns help law enforcement and should be used in self-defense. Both parties agree that guns are present in violent acts, either in a negative or positive manner.
Many people against arming pilots have several reasons to support their objections. One is that a stray bullet could penetrate the skin on the aircraft and cause a catastrophic pressurization loss, which could lead to a crash. However, that is simply not true. The fuselage of an aircraft is made of aluminum alloys, punctures to its surface from a bullet, will only make a hole, and the aircraft’s pressurization system would compensate for the small hole. People probably would not even notice the difference in pressurization. This theory was actually played out when a US Airways pilot accidently fired his gun in the cockpit. Thankfully, no one was
