Whitney Houston was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, in a talented singing family. Her career as a singer began in the local gospel choir but she quickly graduated to back up singing with the likes of Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan, when she also worked as a model. At 18, Whitney recorded with Arista Records, producing the album, 'Whitney Houston' with 'Saving All My Love For You’, which help her a Grammy Award. Her second album, 'Whitney', was the first album by a woman to enter at number one in the charts and the others singles all made #1 in the Billboard chart. 'I Want to Dance With Somebody (Somebody Who Loves Me)' hit top on the charts in UK. Growing as a superstar she had millions of invitations and opportunities, one of the most important ones was the invitation to record 'One Moment in Time', a song for an album to celebrate the Olympics in Los Angeles. Around early 2007, she recorded the song "Family First" with Dionne Warwick and Cissy Houston. She divorced and gained full parental custody of their daughter, and also began work on a new album. After almost a decade, Whitney Houston returned to the studios and recorded another album, 'I Look To You', in 2009.
