Wildcat (Felis silvestris): A small native Eurasian and African cat that is typically gray with black markings and a bushy tail, noted for its ferocity. However, being a Northwestern Wildcat is more than being fierce, it would put me in the middle of both one of the world’s greatest cities and in a campus where I can not only explore my future career paths, but also cultivate my interests outside the classroom and even give back to the community.
At Northwestern, I will be encouraged to spread my wings and venture into the realm of science while being driven to grow and succeed. The education in biology at the Northwestern will equip me with the necessary skill-sets to improve the fundamental health and quality of human life in the future.

Mixed with students from diverse backgrounds but similar passions and intellectual energy, my experience at Northwestern will be fulfilling and unforgettable. In fact, by obtaining a degree at Weinberg, I believe that I will have limitless opportunities and really graduate Northwestern doing something I love in life.
At Northwestern, I can get involved in what I like to do. The Philharmonia offers me a chance to continue my passion playing the violin while meeting diverse people from many other concentrations. Additionally, Engineers for a Sustainable World is an organization where I can truly do what I love while improving the world and its future generations.
Life at Northwestern will bring me increased confidence, deeper knowledge, and a broader perspective of the world. Being a Wildcat is something to be proud of, even if it means I’ll have a bushy
My academic and research experience at University of Washington helped me realize the importance of health science and that I am suitable to study biomedical sciences. UW is well known for its rigorous health science programs and biology related courses. However, my resolve to do well does not falter a bit when I am challenged with the demanding coursework. Rather than being daunted by the challenge, I feel compelled to expose myself to the vast knowledge of the biology due to curiosity and passion. I thank UW for the hardship because it makes me more determined to go into biomedical sciences.
Through Engineering World Health, I can utilize my passion for biomedical engineering to build medical devices for hospitals in developing countries. By joining Hopkins Robotics Club, which is similar to the robotics team I am currently co-captain of, I can help bring schematics of different robotic mechanisms to life. Besides engineering-based organizations, I also hope to participate in the Hopkins Feminists organization, where I can continue to help promote gender equality and combat sexism in our society. Additionally, I’m interested in the Chinese Student Association, which provides a supportive cultural environment and brings awareness and understanding of Chinese culture throughout the university, similar to the Asian Affinity Club that I am co-president of. Lastly, I will be able to pursue my interests in choir and theatre through the university’s Choral Society and 7 theatre
Lynx Rufus also referred to as bobcat is the most common wildcat found in North America. They are medium size with a lot of similarity to lynx. Their skin color ranges from beige shades to brown fur that has lined markings in black or dark brown.
I never knew anyone who had attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which made the entire visiting trip feel personal and unique. My initial undergraduate major fluctuated between the business and engineering world. I was constantly reminded by my parents about how the typical college student changes their major six times, so I had a desire to pursue a school with a plethora of options. Luckily, the University of Wisconsin-Madison had top tier programs in both fields.
The University of Chicago satisfies my idea of wanting to go to an outstanding university but still be so close to home. I know that UChicago is an advocate of joining extracurricular activities and knowing that I can do and even be encouraged to not only focus on school but also peruse other things I’m passionate about without having to show as big commitment for example joining a sport but not have it be like joining the school varsity team is such a great opportunity. There are many things that I love to do such as volunteer for the cause of creating a better environment but I also like to work with children and help them learn to conquer the subject their struggling with. Knowing I can do things related to both those things and have many more is such a satisfaction because I know I’ll be doing things that I love and enjoy.
Diversity is a major quality that attracts me to Northwestern. It is important for me to be surrounded by different backgrounds, experiences and outlooks. The diversity at Northwestern is shown in the types of organizations and programs available to students. Another quality is what makes Northwestern an excellent university. Underneath their mission statement, its states, “Northwestern is committed to excellent teaching, innovative research and the personal and intellectual growth of its students in a diverse academic community.” A university that cares about their students’ success and takes pride in their mission to provide the greatest education is a crucial aspect on why I want to attend to Northwestern.
UCSD is the perfect fit for me. I am deeply fascinated by Biology and I know UCSD would allow me to explore so many depths and levels of this study that are exceptionally unique to this school. Your programs and opportunities are unmatched in excellence and passion, specifically the Scripps Marine Center and the UCSD Medical center. I've never seen a school so captivated and driven by Biology, and being a part of that would be electrifying.
To some, Northwestern may seem like just another college with an iconic speech about how you can make a club to match your interests, or how great the food is; however, once you go beneath the surface it is impossible to underestimate the potential educational and intellectual benefits which stem from Northwestern.
I started my life as a foreign student in 2009, and earned my bachelor degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on health science at California State University, San Marcos in 2015. The challenges for nontraditional students was vast; nonetheless, all my experiences have become key aspects of my life, and each of them molded me to become the individual I am today. So far, I am confident that I fit into the biotechnology program at California State University, San Marcos by reason of I gain passion and ability to conduct researches, academic confidence , leadership experience, and experience with diverse

Cornell University and CALS is the stepping stone needed for me to take that journey. In light of that, Cornell University offers a diverse range of biological and courses involving life science. This would progress me as a student wishing to study biology, to fit the bill in my education needs. I plan on studying biology and one day being a physician and a cardiovascular surgeon. While Cornell would aid me in doing that, the university would help me into doing so
I am Bhagee Ganesan, a rising junior in New Albany High School’s Class of 2017. I am an innately curious person and intend to pursue a degree in biology, especially in molecular genetics or neuroscience. My college choices are still open, but I am considering Johns Hopkins, Harvard University, Duke University, OSU, Case Western, and NEOMED at Kent State. I hope to major in molecular genetics or neuroscience and be a part of the research to discover and refine the molecular basis of inherited diseases at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard or at Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s satellite lab, Janelia, in Virginia. I would also like to take personalized medical treatment development in the field of genomic medicine to the next level. I
Going to college is a big jump in the life of anyone who decides to enroll and not everyone who attends has the same expectations. Coming to Western Kentucky University, I have high hope and expectations. I admit that I want to have a lot of fun socially, but I also want to succeed academically. I believe WKU is a good place for me. I think being on this campus is going to help me grow as a person.
Despite what some oldest or middle children might like to believe, being the youngest in a family of six complicated my childhood and often left me to feel extraneous in the shadows of my older brothers. After years of this belittlement, I grew into an independent, curious individual who wants nothing more than an opportunity to do something greater than what is expected of me, and Northwestern is the perfect place for me to achieve my dreams.
While at Neumann I hope to receive my bachelor’s degree in Biology. With my degree in biology I hope I can intern, and volunteer at a local animal rescues in Baltimore. Over the summer I became certified in nutrition for dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. I currently work at an organic pet store that allows me to help animals with allergies. My education goals are to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. I would like to specialize in Neurology, so I can help multiple sclerosis patients. Currently, I’m trying to intertwine wanting to become a physical therapist, and still be able to give back to animals that are looking for their forever home.
