Vets also diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals. Most veterinarians work in private clinics and hospitals. Others travel to farms, work in laboratories or classrooms, or work for the government. Where a veterinarian works really depends on what type of vet you aim to be or are. There are five basic types of veterinarians; companion animal vets, equine vets, food animal vets, food safety and inspection vets, and research vets. I really enjoy regular house pet animals such as dogs or cats, but also animals such as deer or rabbits …show more content…

Another quality of a good vet is good communication skills, who must be able to discuss and explain treatment options to animal owners and give instructions to their staff when on the job and working quickly and efficiently. The third good quality of a vet would be their decision making skills; such as the terrible and difficult decision to euthanize an injured or sick animal. This quality goes along with the next quality of a vet, which is problem solving skills to help injured sick animals and to find out what is wrong with them and then treat them effectively.
