Anne’s Belief of Survival Anne Frank was a Jew who had to struggle through the horrors of WWII. She had to hide with seven other Jews in a very cramped attic. While she was in hiding, she kept a diary where she recorded all her thoughts. These included her thoughts about her survival of the war. Anne went through periods of feeling good and bad but Anne believes that she will survive the war. The first reason why Anne will survive the war is how she reacts to Allied victories. For example, she became much happier when “Turkey has joined the war”(Frank 71) only to find out that they had not. Finding out that a new nation had joined the war would make many people at that time in the war much happier. Due to the fact that that time of the war the Axis powers had become very successful in the war. Even with a small country such as turkey people in the Allied nations would become much happier. Someone like Anne who was in hiding would be made much happier as she knew that …show more content…
Throughout the diary, she has some entries that talk about what she believes about the war. For example near the end of the diary as the allied forces close in on Holland Anne and her family were so excited. On that day she writes in her diary, “That peace and tranquility will return again”(Frank 264). This quote means that she believes that once this war is over that the world will stop fighting each other and will return to a state of peace and calm. In this same entry, Anne had been writing about the death and destruction that the war had brought to her doorstep. Near the end of the entry, she writes that quote showing that she believes that peace will come again. She wraps the entry by saying, “I must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out”(Frank 264). What she is saying is that not only will peace return to the world but she will be able to see this new
At the end of Act two scene one, Anne said in her diary, “The people from whom Miep got our ration books have been arrested. So we have had to cut down on our food.” (page 167) This illustrates the shortage of food and bad living conditions caused by the war. Another piece of evidence is shown when Anne states in her diary at the end of Act two scene three, “We’re all in much better spirits these days. There’s still excellent news of the invasion… Maybe I’ll be back in school by fall.” (page 181) The quote in Anne’s diary reveals information about the invasion going on at the time, which brought hope to many that the war would soon end. As previously mentioned, the diary is yet another way historical events are depicted in The Diary of Anne Frank.
She knows that she is in danger and that she potentially won’t survive and her conflict is that she has so much to give in life but might not give it. For example, on page 196, “…the end of the war is so terribly far away, so unreal, like a fairy tale.” Anne knows that there is so much that could happen to her between this time and the end of the war and know that she could die. Also on page 197 it says, “…to become a journalist, because that’s what I want!” Secretly Anne probably had this internal conflict that she might not live to her
Even though Anne lived in confinement and in such circumstances she didn’t give up on herself and was still optimistic. This shows that Anne Frank is a strong person, at an early age she was able to not lose hope and still believed that people are really good at heart. She continued to grow as a person and still had positivity in
“It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” (Anne Frank) Anne Frank was one of the many children who fell victim to the Holocaust during the World War II. Anne’s story is nothing short of a tragedy; she died at the early age of fifteen from Typhus while being held by the Nazi Regime, in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. Before dying, Anne and her family went into hiding and lived secretly in her father's office building in the Netherlands. While living in the “Annex,” a secret hiding place, she developed many interests such as reading and writing. Anne is famous because she is one of the best-known victims of the Holocaust, her story has been shared with millions in a publication of her diary, and through her writing’s she introduces many people to the massacre and its horror.
Through all of the acts of kindness throughout the book, what made me agree with Anne’s quote that everyone is good at heart was Anne, and her kind and selfless actions during Hanukkah. On page 70, the following dialogue takes place:
Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.
By June 12, 1942, Anne Frank had been alive for thirteen years; as a gift, she received a diary. Her thirteenth birthday present was used to record her thoughts and emotions built up over the two years that she and the others stayed hidden away in the secret annex after her sister, Margot Frank, was called to a German concentration camp. This, an excerpt from Anne Frank 's diary, displays the horror that was felt: “I was stunned. A call-up, everyone knows what that means. Visions of concentration camps and lonely cells raced through my head.” A normal teenage girl shouldn’t have to endure these types of things. It was courageous of Anne to even write in the diary. She is truthful about the horror of this historical event. She could have left out the gruesome details but if
In conclusion, Adolf Hitler and the Nazis brought a lot of damage to the Jewish and others. People were forced to hide in order to keep their lives. While they were hiding they could not do a single thing that would put them at risk of being found. “The Diary of Anne Frank” puts all of this into perspective. Anne kept a diary with her while experiencing the struggles of this war. Her diary helped people to feel what she was feeling during that time.
Growing up during the Holocaust was a rough time especially for Anne. Growing up in a small cramped annex with strict rules and a family she hardly knew was not an easy transition from her living in her own home with some to no rules. To go into hiding Anne had to give up all of her friends and leave the school she was attending. It was like her and her family just disappeared. While staying in the annex for two years Anne has shown many characteristics of a survivor such as being friendly, becoming composed and having an optimistic attitude.
From Anne’s journal we learn that her day to day life has changed for the worst. But Anne never thought bad even though things around her were falling apart in the holocaust. She always tried to make the best out of her experience. Anne, her family, and others stayed in a hiding place throughout the holocaust. But before they went into their hiding place the Frank family received a call-up from the S.S saying that they are coming for the Franks. Therefore we can assume that the people in the hiding place feared getting caught by the S.S everyday. Even though Anne was not able to do much Anne mentioned that at least it’s better than being in a concentration camp cell. Although the Frank family was in a time of chaos they tried to live as normal
Anne Frank is an amazing Example of Hope. This young lady is somebody who all People ought to gaze upward to and try to be similar to, or through a standout among the most tempting time times of our reality's history, World War II, Anne kept up her Hope that things would show signs of improvement and that some time or another her life would be restored to its old self. Rather than harping on the terrible occasions going ahead around her, Anne pours her Innermost contemplation and concerns into her journal, which in the long run turns into an astounding bit of proof for descendants to find out about this horrendous world occasion. Anne had every last bit of her freedoms and property tore far from her by Nazis, and in addition losing every last
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who died during World War II. In The diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, she said that “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” This shows that she is a caring and an understanding person that while this is happening, believe that all people are still good. Many of Anne’s Quotes show that she really believes that people are good on the inside. She really believes that everything in the world happens for a reason.
This is true because her Father published her journal and made a couple copies not knowing the success this journal had. I think if Anne survived the war, the journal would be less interesting. Because now we know how brutal the war was. Also if she survived the war she wouldn’t have a lot to talk about anymore.
The theme of, The Diary of Anne Frank, is hope can be found in all tragic events. The text evidence demonstrates that no matter what being optimistic can get you through terrible events. Anne says to Peter, " I know it's terrible, trying to have any faith... when people are doing such horrible things... I think the world might be going through a phase the way I was with mother... I still believe in spite of everything, that people are still good at heart" (1245-1252).
Many Nazi's were forced to do so. I believe that she knew the Nazi's meant well they were just following orders. Know I understand that there were some not so nice military persons, but I believe that's what she meant. Same with her mother, a parent trying to stay harmonious at that time with children of your own is very hard. Anne's mother didn't pay much diligence to her because her mind was on the war. My finale responds to the following question (Why do you think Anne Frank felt that way during the war?) It does not matter who you are and what you do. A lot of people make mistakes, and during World War Two there was a lot of them. Anne knew that Jews were getting killed. Anne new 99%, one of those Jews could be her. She wanted those German's and Jews to know that after the war was over, there were going to be consequences. So before that happened, she wanted to tell those people that she believed that they meant
