After completing all the exercises from the book. I generated a self-assessment of various things I learned about myself. Such as, what type of thinker I am and how well I use my critical and creative thinking skills in my daily routine. As well as, learning how to test my assumptions based off of my very own experiences as a critical thinker, along with learning how to make an inference in familiar situations from experiences.
I currently study Health and Social care, psychology, and media studies. I’m most interested in health and social care since this is the subject that has taught me about the level of commitment and responsibility that it takes to become a nurse. Whilst studying health and social care, I’ve learnt many transferable skills. I’ve learnt how to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, I’ve learnt how to manage my time better and I’ve also learnt to develop my logical thinking which has enabled me to make a reasoned decision about applying to study a mental health nursing course at university. Above all else, studying health and social care has taught me about the amount of diversity that the career of nursing offers which has definitely developed my
I show my strengths as a critical thinker when I work with other people and communicate with them. I am very outspoken when it comes to certain things but when you work with other people it can hinder your progress because you could have different ideas on how to do things or what to do and everyone wants things their way. I try to understand our situation and not be biased to my opinion but try to see other people’s point of view and conclude which way is best for my benefit and the groups. I focus more on what people are saying and see all possible outcomes and when things don’t go my way I still try to make things work even if we aren’t using my methods. during times like these I noticed certain characteristics that I display like I am
Beliefs, attitudes and values are three little words that have and make a massive impact on who we are as individuals, who we are as people, and even how the world is viewed by ourselves and others. A belief is something that individuals or groups think, such as believing in a god. Where a Value would be the living life in the ways a religion expects, this value will be made from the belief that the person or group has in their God. The attitude towards this would be the feelings, beliefs and behaviour tendencies towards this, for example praying, reading the holy book,
The four courses I took that contribute to my career goal are Health Studies 131 (CPR class),Family and Consumer Science 342(Nutrition), Kinesiology 275(Anatomical Kinesiology) and Health Studies 133(Healthy Lifestyles). In Health Studies 131, it deals with the learning basic of CPR and first-aid safety. It teaches you what to do and what not to do incase of an emergency and other precautions around you. In FCS 342, I learned about impotant fact and key terms to know about nutrition. This can be useful in my profession because I can give the helpful information to my patients. For Kinesiology 275 ,I learned about the human body which consist of the knowing the anatomical names for the bones, the muscles ,and possible injuriesof both. And in Health Studies 133, was about learning to have a healthy lifestyle.
It means that you need to keep in mind what your goals are, keeping them in mind is important because doing so will help keep you on track for what you want to accomplish.
Trigger warning: This may cause you to change your previously held beliefs! It 's a privilege to learn about racism instead of experiencing it your whole life. If you do not have to think about it, it’s a privilege. If you did not want to read this paper out of fear because of the trigger warning, many universities have started allowing students to do this with many of their assignments. Universities were created to help foster the freedom of the human mind, but many have started to focus attention to micro-aggressions and the use of trigger warnings, this is causing students to be unprepared for the post-college world because they view certain topics as taboo, hold on to their beliefs, and focus on punishment rather than education.

What is Critical Thinking? According to (Eder & Paul, 2004), “critical thinking is the ability and disposition to improve one’s thinking by systematically subjecting it to intellectual self-assessment” (Par. 6). Critical thinking is not a skill that someone can achieve all at once. In order to become a developed critical thinker, there are different levels of intellectual development one must pass through to improve their thinking capabilities. Per (Eder & Paul, 2004), there are six stages of critical thinking development. In the following paragraphs, I will summarize the six stages of critical thinking development. Then, I will explain which stage describes my current level of thinking and why
Yes, I am to continue improving my critical thinking skills. I will continue to employ all of the strategies that I have learned in this course. For example, I will continue to ask questions. I will also define and eliminate all the external and internal barriers that keep me from thinking for myself. Latly, I will reamin neutral at all time, and control all ssumptions and biases that might affect my critical thinking in a negative way.
I feel that this class has taught me to think differently about the world around me. This class has taught me to not only think differently but also to listen to the thoughts of others and how they feel about certain topics and to not judge them but to take their thought into consideration when I think about the same thing. Overall I feel that this class has enhanced my critical thinking skills and made me more prepared for the adult world and all of the decisions that come with it. The critical thinking skills that I have gained this semester would have to be not just going along with what someone believes but challenging it to see why they believe that and why one should have the same beliefs that they do. This semester has taught me that

I knew that critical thinking was not one of my strengths. Critical thinking according to Elkins, (2004) needs the individual to give clear analysis rational thinking, and delivering critique. The above description was certainly something I would have to overcome. The sense of deflation, overwhelming, and frustration were all the feelings I rapidly started to suffer from. The reasoning behind feelings, is that I did not want to fail, and neither did I want my grades to be just a pass mark, as they had been increasing slightly in a percentage or two in my previous assignments. However, it has been identified that many learners have also had mixed feeling about their capabilities of a critical thinker according to Elkins, (2004). Irrational though
1. There are few instances I noticed about my senses since I began thinking about them. On rare occasions after I am forced to wake up earlier than usual, my vision start distorting itself and I can see odd floating specks or my vision begins to blur and darken before returning to normal. I have also noticed that can taste some food that others claim they cannot such as cilantro.
I knew that Maths, English and Sciences would be beneficial and have taken National Five and Higher courses in these areas. I am currently taking Highers in Psychology and Sociology which develops my understanding of human behaviour and situations which I feel would be helpful with Nursing especially as regards to mental health. I have studied a YASS course called Understanding the Autism Spectrum which I think would be advantageous to my applications for adult and mental health nursing. I am also doing the First Steps to Nursing Module at UWS Dumfries to develop my understanding of nursing and the required
