“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” This quote is from Harvey MacKay is inspirational to me because the most important value in my life is time. Although, most people don’t take time into consideration, it must be valued the most because it is the most precious and powerful thing in the world. I value time because it’s limited, you decide how you choose to spend it, and it heals all wounds.
Firstly, I value time because it’s limited. Every day I wake up and do the same routine. Rarely do I ever change my daily schedule. My day consists of the same thing every day: waking up, checking my phone for the time, getting ready, and going to school (if I have class), coming home to do my homework, and of course associating with my family. I’m the type of person that gets easily distracted and always seems to have something to do. I live in regret every day from not picking up the phone to call my family in Cuba every chance I had. The day I realized just how much time as slipped through my hands was the day I found out that my grandpa had passed away. There is a common and true saying that “Time and Tide waits for none” which

Most people prefer to spend their time with love ones or friends but I prefer to spend it alone. I love my halcyon days, just relaxing in my bed enjoying my music and of course thinking of scenarios that will never happen. As an indolent person I value my time alone especially when it comes to watching stand-up comedy or a new TV show. I adore movies or TV series in foreign language, I think diversity is the most beautiful thing ever. It’s nice to just forget and travel the world and learn different customs and language all without leave the comfort of my home. It’s nice to unwind from the world and just be myself even if it’s just for a few
My Quote: “What you don't necessarily realize when you start selling your time by the hour is that what you're actually selling is your life.”
Time is a valuable resource, and in fact, some people get more out of their time than others. Time is a scarce resource meaning that there is not enough of the resource available to satisfy all of the ways I want to use it. Due to the fact that it is scarce, this means that my time must be allocated in such a way that I can get the most out of it. Being a full time student, working part-time, and playing college athletics is a tough feat. In fact, most of the time I struggle in deciding what to do and when. What I choose to do is a demonstration of my value system and some things are valued more than others.
The data sets for problems 5 and 6 can be found through the Pearson Materials in the Student Textbook Resource Access link, listed under Academic Resources. The data is listed in the data file named Lesson 20 Exercise File 1. Answer Exercises 5 and 6 based on the following research problem:
Within the article, No time to think: Reflections on information technology and contemplative scholarship, David Levy discusses his perspective on the use of time and technology. He projects his ideas to his audience and basically says to take a chill pill with technology and life overall. Levy writes this article in a very consistent tone but does not fail to mention the ideas that he has and how society should go about them. While writing about his understanding of time, it is easy for his audience to relate his piece to Time Ain’t Money by Douglas Rushkoff in multiple forms. Although Levy and Rushkoff might have different viewpoints on the concept of time, they both go about getting their beliefs across in a familiar and direct way.
3. You have been asked to advise a growing organisation which employs 75 people in office-based roles but which has no specialist, dedicated HR function. Managers are particularly keen to know how they can best evaluate the effectiveness of their HR activities and initiatives. Despite limited funds being available the organisation manages to provide some form of formal training and development opportunities for everyone each year, gives everyone an annual performance appraisal and seeks to involve staff through a consultative forum which all attend at least once a year. What advice would you give? Justify your answer.
Into the Wild is thought of as a man going into the wild for exploration when he goes to be alone, find himself, and being one with nature. Psychiatrists believe this is good for the creative minds but whether he had this in mind when deciding to just run off to alaska to get away from things or to actually benefit himself. A famous quote from the story is ¨happiness is only real, when shared¨ so we learn that abandoning everything and going to the wilderness is not very realistic. This story is an epic description of wilderness vs civilization. When looking at what Chris McCandless chose to do you wonder why he chose to go Alaska by himself.
The concept of time is a phenomenon that has been met with much discourse, but is also an invaluable commodity. I began to understand how much of a commodity time is when I was in seventh grade. That was the year my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I witnessed a man recovering from bankruptcy, struggling to support a family with five children, while attempting to pass his medical board exams, defeat all odds. By the end of that year all of those obstacles were no more, and with the help of my mother they were able to move us out of that socioeconomic environment. That’s when I understood what time meant to me, opportunity. After witnessing my father battle I vowed to never quit and to make the most of my time. Through medicine my
“Why we work” by Andrew Curry was very informational and resourceful. So it was not hard for me to agree with him about employees being stressed out and discontent with their jobs. Andrew gives multiple reasons to agree with him. Most of the reasons come from experience from my past and present jobs. Others reasons come from economy problems. I agree with Andrew because I to was stressed out and discontent at my past job Applebee's.
As a Salem Freshman, I was required to take a “Signature” Salem class; a class that was “signature” to Salem and Salem alone. These classes were chosen based on a survey given to students before they get their schedules and all of them are rather “worldly”. At the time, I was unaware that the this “Sign” Classes were fully graded and fleshed out classes. I simply chose a class that sounded incredibly interesting without thinking about how well I would actually perform in that field. I chose a class that offered to challenge the way I think about others and how they think; a class that could help me understand people more by showing me how they come to believe things. Despite my initial confusion and eventual grade, I admit that I don’t regret taking the class because what I learned in that classroom was something I don’t believe I would have ever experienced otherwise.
For example, tonight you have a small gathering and the very next day a family member dies and you didn't spend that much time with that person and you should value the time left it's better to be together than
I would rate myself an eight because it is sometimes hard for me to read books during choice reading due to the fact that some of the books disinterest me. It’s hard to read a book that is completely mysterious to a book that is all about love and marriage. However, if there is a day I have spare time for reading, then I will take advantage of that time because it is beneficial for time management and for the future. It is great to use it effectively because later on there wouldn’t be as much time for me to read because of my classes that I will take throughout the two remaining years in high school. I like choice reading since there is no negative effects of using my spare time to read. Reading is something that helps me to become a better
“When we cannot bear to be alone, it means we do not properly value the only companion we will have from birth to death – ourselves.” – Eda LeShan. It’s a busy, busy day here in our lives. It would be nice if we can just press pause for a moment, so we can indulge the seconds of relief. I don’t think there’s anyone who wishes they couldn’t have a time out from everybody and everything. In “Daystar” by Rita Dove and “Loneliness” by Leon Neyfakh both share the same concept, spending time by yourself is healthy for an individual. They portray this content using the elements of tone, language, and imagery. They both are really intergrading in the fact people should give themselves a break.
Time Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks.
Moving from one place to another is a necessity for almost every living organism. Whether it be sliding, walking, jumping, crawling, or flying, movement is bound to happen sometime. Humans like to move from place to place quickly without doing any work. Since running is work, humans generally avoid it if possible. There tends to be some unfavorable expression like a grimace or a sigh accompanying the quote, “I think I have to go running.” Although hated among many people throughout the world, the positive sides of running can be enough to turn the lazy into the hardworking. Running is an excellent choice for physical and mental enhancement because it keeps one active, relieves stress, and is a good self-esteem booster.
The life given by god has a very special meaning a value in which people sometimes forget to thank or either regret. Many students/adults believe that they are going to be popular if they have money and a good job buy forget that people are influenced by those who have learned something. Also a lot fail to remember, to earn value you must earn it.In today’s economy the government creates a value on the person by looking at the position they are held for. If you look at it from the society’s point of view they believe people should be given value according to what they do and what position they are. From an individual's perspective they judge themselves on what they accomplish and achieve. The value of the individual would
