Have you ever been up late at night trying to finish that one homework assignment? If you have or stressed out over homework then you should join the cause of trying to limited homework that teachers give out. I have also been one of those kids that stay late into the night to finish an assignment or project. So the amount of homework teachers give out should be limited. Too much homework can stress kids and make them stay up late at night. If kids have too much homework they could be staying up late into the night to get it finished. Also the kids could be stressing out about their homework and stressing that they might not have enough time to do it at night. Additionally if they are over stressed they could mess up on something important
In an article by Marzano and Pickering it states that homework may no be an effective in educational tool. Homework is just busy work most of the time. Therefore, the extra homework doesn't help with student achievement. Inappropriate homework may produce little or no benefit, it might even decrease achievement, according to Marzano and Pickering. Homework can cause stress and when they're stressed all the homework they have doesn’t help. Let's imagine that you have homework for every class due the next day and sports as soon as you get home from school; it's a lot of stress. Marzano and Pickering say , teachers aren't well trained in how to assign homework. Moat teachers hand out mainly busy work, and aren't trained well enough to zhand out propor
However, the majority of families have two parents that work full time and if they are having to come home and help their younger ones with work that should only be done during school hours, then it is more stress added onto their day. The time it takes for a parent to have their child to do homework could range anywhere from one to two hours. The problem with that is that families tend to be on a set schedule after school and work. When they are set to a schedule some things tend to get cut like playing outside, family bonding time, and in some cases it could cause the child to get to bed at a later time. Lack of sleep not only effects the child, but it also pays a toll on the parents. Therefore, homework not only has a bad outcome on the students but their relationship with their parents and home
Teachers forget that we have other homework too. Students get more stressed because of how much time you have to spend on homework. This affects their ability to focus on what homework is important and makes them want to give up. Doing so much homework will make students feel pressured to do homework quickly and then they will not do their best. Students already have to be in school for 8 hours, so when they get home they won’t have any breaks until they finish all their homework. This is important because students are working really hard at school so when they get home they are really
The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn). Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover). There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn).
Students come home after school to many hours of seemingly pointless homework. Teachers should stop assigning homework because students receive too much homework everyday, it takes away from family time, and it has not improved student achievement. Students need time to live out their childhood and should not be forced to spend it completing homework
Losing sleep due to homework is a big problem as well, which can be heart-breaking considering the fact that they are also not spending a lot of time with their families just to be up all night studying for a test the next day and completing lengthy homework assignments. These students may become depressed, end up having bad attitudes, and even dropping out. As a motivated student myself, I am sure that these issues should not be occurring just because of homework.
Students can get stressed out because of the overload of homework and it can be too much to handle. Homework can be a stressor instead of a motivator for students. Most schools teach for about seven hours a day yet when the student goes home, they have more work to deal with. Adolescents will be bored with the homework and all of the knowledge that will
Did you know that homework can be noneducational? Or even lead to students not being able to work? The first reason why homework is bad is because it can cause one to be extremely stressed. The second why homework is bad is because it can cause sleep deprivation. The third reason why homework is bad is because if the teacher is forcing the students to do lots of homework it will interfere with the students necessary free time.
Students with less homework can go to bed earlier and wake up more refreshed ready to go to school. When students have so much homework to do they show up to school stressed out and sleep deprive. As they are doing homework at home they are rushing to get it done, students do not practice the information they learned form that day's lesson. Students are sleeping less every night due to excessive amounts of homework causing them to have anxiety. Making it hard for them to go to bed after a long day.
Kids have way too much homework to deal with in one or two nights. Teachers put so much homework for the kids to do in each class every day that it starts to be stressful. When kids get home all they do is go up to their rooms and start doing their homework and get down when it is time for dinner. All we do is sit and do homework for one class it should take twenty minutes at the most for one assignment. Families should not have to deal with their siblings or child's stress about homework kids already have enough stress on them like school, sports, peer pressure, and other activities. When teachers load up homework on the kids it causes even more stress on top of those activities.
Teachers have a big part of causing us students to have too much homework. First of all, they waste too much time in class by talking or yelling at students. So when the teachers talk too much we loose class time to get a head start on our homework for that night. Also, having all four core classes all school year round at the same time gives us piles of homework. Teachers should try and keep a better schedule for the year to try and minimize the amount of homework we get. One last cause is sports. Students enjoy being in sports and don't get home until later leaving them with more homework to do at night.
Students often complain about not getting enough sleep; this is usually accurate because many kids stay up until the late hours of the night doing homework.
I chosen should there be less homework because some people have a lot homework and some time they be falling asleep in class because they stay up all night do there homework and sometime they don’t finish their homework
Students all across the country are suffering from the same dilemma, homework! It may not be seen as a dilemma or even a problem but rather as something helpful to the learning process. From a student’s point of view, however, homework is one of the top causes of stress throughout high school. With the expectation to take about 6 to 7 classes a day, the amount of homework each teacher assigns starts to pile up and the workload gets overwhelming. No one wants to sit at a table wrecking their brain trying to figure out how to complete something they have no interest in. Is a student’s willingness and ability to learn not important? They can both be effected by the amount of stress that a huge workload of homework can cause. This is why teachers should decrease the amount of homework they assign and modify it to make it more balanced and challenging yet interesting and not time consuming. The amount of stress students face would diminish and students would still be learning.
But for good reason. Homework takes away time from more important things, causes pressure, --heck, it causes suicides!-- it is unfair, and most importantly, it doesn’t help. Honestly, teachers, you have a choice; you can either have us be completely focused on homework and grades, missing out on a better life, or we can live a more healthy lifestyle, during which we can learn from experience, not textbooks, and maybe have a chance to make some changes in the world. It is time to decide.
