Kids have way too much homework to deal with in one or two nights. Teachers put so much homework for the kids to do in each class every day that it starts to be stressful. When kids get home all they do is go up to their rooms and start doing their homework and get down when it is time for dinner. All we do is sit and do homework for one class it should take twenty minutes at the most for one assignment. Families should not have to deal with their siblings or child's stress about homework kids already have enough stress on them like school, sports, peer pressure, and other activities. When teachers load up homework on the kids it causes even more stress on top of those activities. In families homework can cause stress and cause them to get
As evidence, a 2007 MetLife study found that 45 percent of students in grades three to 12 spend more than an hour a night doing homework. If middle schoolers get 3 hours of homework, think of how much more high school and college students get, especially when 3 hours of homework is a lot of time taken up already for a middle schooler when usually they don’t even have jobs. Nearly 80% of High school and college students have jobs after school hours. Which their jobs might go to 9PM at night and they still have more than 3 hours of homework to do. That gives no time for them to relax, get the right amount of sleep, and spend time with
Do you think kids get too many trophies? In my opinion, we do. They make kids lazy, and can send the wrong message, but also, they have good intentions.
After some research by scientists, we have discovered that most students wave experiences extreme stress due to the amount of homework each night.Researchers have done surveys on students of every age and have discovered that “38 percent of students in grades seven through 12 and 28 percent of students in grades three through six reports being “very often/often” stressed out by their homework” (Ryan). This stress is not good for children's minds or bodies since they can make students experience several unwanted symptoms and get in the way of their social life. Kids will do anything to get rid of their stress and research has found that some students may even turn to drugs like marijuana to try to rid themselves of all this stress.symptoms of stress can be very serious and most kids have them and all of this is caused by children getting too much homework.Research has also found that after surveying kids about how much stress they have because of school and this homework load that “More than 80 percent of students reported having at least one stress-related symptom in the past month, and 44 percent said they had experienced three or more symptoms”(Levy). This proves that it's not just some kids complaining about having too much homework but a majority of them are stressed out about their homework load.stress can cause things like headaches stomach pains tense muscles rapid heart beat and even insomnia which cannot be
High School students shouldn't have more than two hours of homework a night due to sports, work, and their social lives. Just imagine if you had to go to work all day, then come home and go to work again until two in the morning. How effective would that make you in the morning? You would simply just be distressed and unable to work the whole next day and then before you know it you have to stay up and work until two in the morning again. Now relate that to kids and homework, when they have to stay up and do it after a long day that they already had. And after other activities that students have had they don't have time to do that much homework.
Homework is very stressful on students, due to the fact that students may have other activities to do and may have less time to spend on homework. “Homework is frequently the source of frustration, exhaustion, family conflicts, a lack of time for kids to pursue other interests and, perhaps most disturbingly, less excitement about learning” (Akman). With too much of homework for students each night they can get worn out from it and develop a dislike from learning. Homework can be the cause of many things and with much conflict from homework students can build up more stress which can harm their health. “Empirical studies have linked excessive homework to sleep disruption, indicating a negative relationship between the amount of homework, perceived stress and physical health” (LeTendre). Too much homework for students each night can raise their anxiety levels and cause more stress for the student. Homework now is more difficult for students to comprehend and can take hours to complete leading students to more and more stress each school
When kids have homework every night it steals time away from relaxation. Students are tired after a long day at school. For example, students are now staying at home doing homework instead of being with friends and family. Homework takes time away from
Too much homework can stress kids and make them stay up late at night. If kids have too much homework they could be staying up late into the night to get it finished. Also the kids could be stressing out about their homework and stressing that they might not have enough time to do it at night. Additionally if they are over stressed they could mess up on something important
Homework can cause stress for some children, leading to issues such as sleep deprivation. We start at nine and get out at three, that’s enough already. Adult come home from exhausted from work and yet they can’t understand when their kids have trouble at the end of a
Children need time to rest. For example, a student will unnecessarily stay up all night just to finish all the homework their teacher gave them, then come back to school drowsy-eyed. Also the child could be falling behind in their work, one moment they’re awake, the next moment they’re sleeping in the middle of class. Also, they can get detention for incompleted homework. Therefore, teachers should give less homework.
Too much homework can cause stress and other health issues. Also, students are working more than the recommended amount of time on homework, and this takes away from family time and free time, as well as time for sleep. When it comes to doing homework, students also want time to relax and enjoy other activities. Shouldn’t students get less homework so that they can be happy and have more time with family and friends? Administrators, teachers, students, and parents need to address this issue and inform people about the effects of homework on students in America. If teachers and parents tried to reduce the amount of homework there would be a decrease in stress and anxiety and an increase in happiness! “Homework makes it so I can’t spend time with my kids and family and I resent
I have piles and piles of homework sitting on my desk at home. We are getting too much homework and we should get less of it. We should have less homework because kids aren’t being active enough which keeps them healthy, having too much stress while doing your homework, and not spending enough time with your family. Kids normally have other things to do when they get home and not just homework. All of the stress homework creates can make homework take longer which means kids could be staying up later than they should be. Kids also love spending time with their families. Those are my 3 reasons on why we should have less homework in
Students arrive home from their tedious six hour long school day only to go home and finish another three to four hours long homework task that could have been taught in class. Students brains are still developing and it takes a long time for information to finally soak in and become more able to remember without having to stress. Most homework tasks that are set are only supposed to be worked on for half an hour but for most students, especially when they are tired and restless cannot just simply sit there and re-do what they done at school it generally comes a two to three hours long task causing students pick between sleep or a detention the next day causing more than necessary stress on students.
Teachers have a big part of causing us students to have too much homework. First of all, they waste too much time in class by talking or yelling at students. So when the teachers talk too much we loose class time to get a head start on our homework for that night. Also, having all four core classes all school year round at the same time gives us piles of homework. Teachers should try and keep a better schedule for the year to try and minimize the amount of homework we get. One last cause is sports. Students enjoy being in sports and don't get home until later leaving them with more homework to do at night.
As teachers give out so much homework, there is limited time to finish work for another class or study for another class. Whenever we actually do the unnecessary work and turn it in, it doesn't always necessarily get graded and it just causes more stress on top of stress. Students are already not getting enough sleep with all six classes that they have. Yet homework is great for students is very helpful for students in their classes, but at the same time they have so much work that they have done in such little time. CNN conducted a study last year showed that the impact of excessive homework on high schoolers included high stress levels,
Did you ever go home to be pounded with homework? Is there just to much you can’t focus and do it all. Kids have sports and other activities to do too. Maybe children shouldn’t get as much homework as they do each day. Homework is proven to cause sleep problems, bad grades, and physical health problems. Studies prove that too much homework is actually not good for your health.
