My love for sports and a strong thirst for knowledge is how I’ve lived my life to this point. At a young age, I began playing football and that sparked my competitive nature which has carried over to my academic life. Playing sports has not only sparked my competitive nature but also formed my leadership skills. Parents and teachers have told me numerous times that I am a great role model and younger kids look up to me; these words make me feel a great sense of joy and pride. This characteristic drives me to be the best possible person I can be, not only for myself, but the people who look up to me. I have attended Cotopaxi High School and accumulated many awards along my journey. As a freshmen I was selected as Lions Club Student of the Month. I believe that this helped set the to for my academic prowess as I later went on to earn many honors: Honor Roll of Distinction 10 Quarters, Excellence in Math, Highest GPA junior and sophomore, Academic All State, …show more content…
I began with football where I acquired a starting job as a freshmen. I climbed the ranks and earned all-conference honorable mention awards as a sophomore and again as a junior. As a senior, I have been bestowed the honor of team captain which has allowed me to display my leadership skills to their fullest potential. I began my basketball career and also secured a starting role as a freshmen. I earned the honors of team captain as a sophomore and again attained all-conference honorable mentions as a sophomore and as a junior. Continuing the trend of sports, I began to run track and qualified for state as a sophomore and then again as a junior where I won a state title in the 4x400m. Not only have I thrived in sports but other activities in my school. I was inducted into the Nation Honor Society as a sophomore. As a junior I joined student council as a class representative and then was promoted to Vice president as a
Through high school I was involved in many different groups, clubs and athletics. I was a STRIDES leader for 2 years, an active member of the high school Bible study and a leader of the out of school athlete Bible study. I was a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and I was also a member of the Z-Club. In high school I took challenging classes every quarter and I also took 3 of the 4 available college credit courses offered, finishing with an A in them all. I was on the honor roll 3 of the 4 years I was in high school and was a very dedicated student in all of my classes. During high school, I was given the amazing experience of representing my school and student body by being voted the freshman representative for the homecoming court. I was also
Ever since I was a child, my parents put me in various sports: soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, and cheer. Both my parents grew up playing sports and realized that being a part of team sports benefits the growth of a person’s perseverance, determination and overall personality. Not only was I an avid multi-sport athlete as a child, my four other siblings were as well. Motivated individuals have surrounded me throughout my life. They have given me a great example of what it means to succeed and persevere. Not only have I been surrounded by strong individuals I have also been able to try different sports. While it was fun being able to try different sports, I realize early on that soccer was what I wanted to pursue. Soccer showed me how to be a part of a team and never give up.
I play football, soccer, basketball, and run track. Consistently, I have evolved into a leader on each team of which I am a member. I am generally considered a captain or play some kind of leadership role on the team. During practices, games, and meets, I have always helped younger or less experienced teammates. Although I am frequently playing two sports at the same time each season, and have many practice and game expectations of me, I have never allowed it to affect my grades. I have maintained nearly straight A’s throughout my elementary school curriculum. I have accomplished this because I am extremely organized and
I have always enjoyed being involved in school activities. By the end of my high school career, I will have played volleyball and golf all four years. Although I was never the superstar or the best on the team for either sport, I always enjoyed playing and being supportive of my teammates. Getting involved with a team and making new friends has been half the fun. Not only do I play sports, but I also enjoy attending other sporting events. My favorite two sports to watch are football and basketball. While in third grade, I cheered on the 2004 Indian football team to a victory during the State game at Camp Randall. In 2012, I supported both the girls’ and boys’ basketball
Along with NHS, being actively involved in varsity sports throughout high school has made me gain a “work hard” attitude. This attitude of constantly working above and beyond will carry over to my future education and career to help me succeed. As a two-year captain of both volleyball and cheerleading, I have learned to be a team leader while also being a team player. High school sports have instilled lifelong lessons in me such as working hard, being responsible, and being a leader, that I know will aid me in by success in academics and a
The time and effort I have put into each and every day to shape who I am displays my dedication. Growing up, I had a vision of who I wanted to become because of the influential people who surrounded me. As my current chapter is coming to an end, I realized I obtained my goal; I have managed to play every sport that interested me. My goal led me to play my three favorite sports, all four years of high school. Along with my athletic abilities, I have managed to maintain a spot in the top ten percent of my class, which made me eligible to participate in National Honor Society.
Throughout high school, I’ve been involved in multiple activities. As I began high school sports, I looked up to the upperclassmen and tried to be like them. As I grow older, I try to be a positive role model for the underclassmen, just as the students before me had done. I believe that being a positive influence on the ones that look up to you is a splendid aspect to have. As my senior year approached, I participated in volleyball for my fourth year. Throughout practice, I was sure to reach
I have always loved sports ever since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories are of playing soccer with my friends on a wet, cold spring day or hitting a ball off of a tee and feeling like it went a mile, when in reality it only went about fifty feet. Even to this day I still can never get enough of sports. I get about four weeks off out of the entire year where I’m not technically in a sport, but I’m still always practicing and trying to get better because that’s the only way I know. I love everything about sports: the friendships, the competition, the passion, the atmosphere, the unity. Sports are one of my true loves and they consume my life. It is this strong desire that I have for sports that has driven me to want to pursue a
Athletics has played an instrumental role promoting success in all branches of life impacting my performance in school, work and other life facets. Involvement in athletics taught me the value of commitment allowing me to play in Division 1 Women’s Soccer while attending the University of Washington. As a former student athlete, I have been winning and losing my entire life developing my own resilience and tremendous work ethic to work with others toward a common goal. My drive spills over into my professional interactions and career aspirations allowing me to connect
Oh how time flies when you’re having fun! I have made so many fond memories within the walls of the Clifton-Clyde High School, memories that will last for a lifetime. Most of those memories would cease to exist if I hadn’t participated in extracurricular activities. I competitively compete in volleyball, basketball, and track & field. One of my most cherished athletic moments was when our volleyball team became two time sub-state champions. It was an honor to earn the role as team captain for both the volleyball and basketball teams this year. I have been on the All-League Academic Team for two years, the All-Academic Team, and earned KVA All-Academic Honorable Mention. I enjoy staying busy, and I have been involved in many organizations throughout my highschool
Bo Jackson once said “set your goals, and don’t stop till you get there. ”Being in athletics for so many years has had a great deal of influence in my life. It has helped me academically, and it has improved my socialization skills that will later be an asset to me in my journey to pursue a business degree. I now have better time management skills that helps me focus on what I need to do before I get distracted with everything else going on in my life. My involvement in many sports has influenced my appreciation for my family, furthermore it has helped me mature along the way.
The fall of my freshman year, I participated in the Drama Program and performed The After School Program Special. This play sparked my interest in Spoken Word poetry, and revealed my assertiveness despite being in front of a mass audience. The following spring I joined the Track and Field Club. This activity taught me the impact of determination and persistence not only as an athlete but also as an honor roll student. My coach would often say, "Your only limit is you." I took this perspective from the track to my academic life. During sophomore year, a group of girls and I began an official cheerleading team at Carmen High School. This sport taught me leadership as I was in charge of teaching other flyers new techniques. Cheer molded me to
I also contributed to my school's athletic events. I participated in many intramurals: volleyball, football, dodgeball, floor hockey, and more. I was able to make a significant contribution to all the teams that I played on and lead some of the teams to great success. My participation in the track and field activities was also noteworthy, as I was able to win multiple sprinting medals.
All around me I could hear what people were saying and majority of my soccer teammates were talking about me, yet they could not know I could hear them. My heart sinks when they call me big ears grant and I always get depressed but at this moment I am used to it. I look different from people, well people look different from me.Only me and my bestfriend know my secret, the hopeless part is that my best friend died three years ago in a car accident.I refused to go to school for one week he was my only friend. Not even my parents know my secret that I can hear anything and everything.
Playing football taught me valuable lessons that I carried over into the real world. I never imagined myself playing sports in high school. I had always been lazy and shown disinterest when it came to playing or watching sports. This changed in my sophomore year of high school. I needed something to occupy myself as I fed up with not doing anything other than go back and forth from school to my house. It also helped that I was forced to exercise as I was beginning to gain weight. This is where my interest in football began and became a part of me for the past three years.
