A man walks in a bank with a ski mask pulls out a gun, tells everyone to get on the floor. He walks to the counter and demands money from the bank teller. everyone is screaming, the burglar yells for silence!, he turns his attention back to the bank teller who is already shaking and tearing up. Then all of a sudden two armed citizens take out their concealed carry weapons and demand the burglar put his gun down and raise his hands in the air. The burglar then realizes he's outnumbered and surrenders. What could of ended in a disaster ended up in a peaceful surrender. Guns can both be dangerous and useful but the outcome is completely depended on the people using them. Guns both have pros and cons, but the real problem is the people pulling the trigger with the lack of education.
Some people think guns are the problem to all shootings, But many people believe guns just play a role in a much bigger picture. One thing that people don't take in account is that you can't regulate guns as severely as cars. Guns can legally be sold at garage sales or even pawn shops, so regulating who has who is nearly impossible. It's a constitutional right to bear arms, it's also not illegal to sell guns without consulting the

The fundamental reason people are dying in mass shootings are the criminals. The United States being such a diverse culture with such a enormous population criminals are bound to happen. With the U.S. having a population of 318 million people, having the world's largest prison population in the world. Many think that americans should be focused on criminal gun activity rather than guns in general. With 2,220,000 adult convicts in prison and growing, many people ask themselves are guns really the problem? educated citizens don't go out and just kill people. It's the criminals who go through through all the trouble doing it. Guns don't kill people, people kill
Gun control is a law that controls how guns are sold and used, and who can own them. Allowing people to possess and use a gun with legal documents in the United States is legal. There have been arguments on whether or not is should be legal to own a gun as some people see it as beneficial and others do not. It is believed that guns are beneficial to have, and they are there because we need to be able to protect ourselves. We should not allow the government to have power over gun control for many reasons including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to protect ourselves, and simply because of the second amendment.
According to the 2010 study there were 31,672 fatalities due to firearms. The following year the number went up to 32,163. Homicides that are a result from guns are relatively high in the States and they take more than eleven thousand lives a year. According to Vision for Humanity, an initiative for the Economics and Peace, the United States is ranked 99 out of 162 countries in the 2013 global peace index, homicide rates and violent crimes are among the various criteria used to determine the ranking (Vision of Humanity). Mass shootings at work places, schools, shopping malls and places of worship are happening in an alarming frequency. While the Newtown shooting is one of the horrific ones, it certainly isn’t the only one that happened in the last two years alone. There were several other mass shootings that took the lives of many all across America. While there are other significant problems in America that need our attention, in my opinion, increasing rate of Gun violence is the most significant problem in American that needs to be addressed.
Mass shootings are not easy to predict or prevent. There are many theories on how we can stop these senseless acts from happening such as stricter gun laws. Laws that would make it a lot harder for the average person to buy guns and parts such as automatic weapons or extended magazines. While there are many laws around the sale of guns in the United States to try to prevent just anyone from getting a gun, according to MSMBC “ More than 80% of guns used in mass shootings are obtained legally.” That means most of the people committing these acts bought their guns legally and a license for the gun as well.
The issue of gun control dates back to the 17th century. There have been debates whether the government of the United States should adopt gun control or not and whether it is good for its citizens or not. As a result, two opposing groups have been formed; one supporting guns control and the other one against. According to statistics a big percentage of crimes committed in the United States are as a result of possession of guns and other firearms among citizens. In surveys carried out since 1999, over 20% of gun owners said that they owned the guns for protection. According to them, they use the guns to protect themselves against the increasing crimes. However, not all gun owners use the guns for protection; some use them to commit crimes thereby bringing in the issue of gun control. The United States government need to formulate laws and regulations to control gun ownership especially pro-guns (Spitzer p34-35).
America's gun problem is so much bigger than mass shootings. Gun ownership has dramatically increased over the years but while violent crime has steadily decreased. 2014 was the most year rate of people carrying guns but also the lowest gun homicides so Is getting rid of guns actually gonna effect this? "States with the largest increases in gun ownership also have the largest drops in violent crimes.” The effect on 'shall-issue' laws on these crimes (where two or more people were killed)has been dramatic. 62 mass shootings in the United States between 1982 and 2012, 49 of the shooters used legally obtained guns. Collectively, 143 guns were possessed by the killers with about 75% obtained legally. guns are used for self-defense 2.5 million times a year. The police cannot protect everyone all of the time. 61% of men and 56% of women surveyed by
Most of the time when there is a shooting people say that guns killed the people; This is not true, people kill people, guns are just the tool used to do it. Guns are just tools they are used by people they can not act on their own. We already have gun laws in place, like having to be a certain age to buy a gun and you having to have a special license to own pistols and Automatic guns along with proper background checks.
Guns do not kill people, people kill people. Guns are not the problem in today’s society. Criminals will kill regardless of gun control. Before guns were created, people were killing people. Yes a gun is a deadly weapon and yes people are killed from gun related incidents everyday, but guns do not have the ability to harm any one on their own. It is true that some of the largest mass murders have been shootings. Many tragedies have occurred because of one person with a gun (Refuting). However, those murderers would not have been stopped if a good guy with a gun didn’t stop them. If the police wouldn’t have stopped many of these killers, they would have continued to kill more people. It is known that many of these mass murders have occurred in gun-free zones. The Sandy Hook shooting happened on school grounds, Virginia Tech and Columbine also on school grounds, and Colorado movie theater shooting all
The laws were made in 1791 so there over 200 years old meaning that they are outdated. At the time of the constitution they had muskets and flintlock pistol which were inaccurate and only had one shot and take 1 minutes to reload. So that means that they are way different than the modern AR 15 that shot can shot 5 shots a second so that different then only one each minute. So they should make the law different between an semi automatic and a musket. It is still hasn’t been changed by the majority of republicans in the senate. They want people to have weapon of war in their homes. It won’t be the first time they change the contusion because the twelfth amendment made it so the runner up in the election not to be the vice president but the president gets to choose who it will be.
Public places like college campuses are often victim to acts of both domestic and foreign terrorism. It is a common perception that in order to prevent shootings from happening you have to make college campuses a gun-free environment. This only makes the students who go to college feel even more unsafe. Students who are the victims of stalking are often in a state of fear as they are unable to defend themselves if a situation turns dire. The question of whether or not if guns should be on campus is not simply about the safety of students, but it also is an argument about the rights of students to bear arms that are protected by the Second Amendment. Colleges that try to invoke a gun-free atmosphere are infringing on both the safety of the student
This article shows that guns save more than they kill. Giving facts and evidence of the situation. Showing that in many situations a gun is a great equalizer and makes the weakest of us just as strong if not stronger than the strongest. I’m going to use this point to show how much good guns actually do.
With different types of shootings small or large it is and has caused up rising with everyone’s idea of guns. Yes it is easy to get guns in America but it is also easy to obtain knives, crossbows, etc. To make it clear guns aren’t the wrong yes the gun is used for a crime or action that is taken but it is the poor choices of people yes there does need to be more regulations and ways of ensuring that guns don’t get into wrong hands but that being said not necessarily everyone should have or be able to obtain a gun there should be background checks on those who are going to purchase a firearm think about it for a minute yes some families around the U.S. have passed guns down from generations and it means the world to that person but it doesn’t
Guns are not the cause of people dying. It is horrible people that have nothing better to do with their lives. The mass shootings in schools are not because guns are bad. They are caused by students,
Guns are bad some people say. I think guns are good and, you need them to hunt and personal defence, and guns don't kill people people kill people. It is also constitutional. Guns are a good thing for this country.
I believe guns should be outlawed since there is no control. Since people with guns don’t seem to be responsible enough and the guns always end up in the wrong hands. Usually the people that commit crimes have stolen guns or guns that aren’t registered. The crime rate might decrease if guns are outlawed
Guns are a big problem in the us. and it needs to be fixed.People can walk in a gun store and get a gun when the workers don't even check their background. This is causing several deaths in a lot of states. people leave guns laying around and kids find it, kids are curious and play with it and can hurt or even kill them.this is just the beginning.
