I was rushing through another busy day at work while thinking in the back of my mind what I could write about for this assignment when I came across a Chinese Proverb and I knew that this quote was where I needed to start. This is how it goes… To get through the hardest journey we need take only one step at a time, but we must keep stepping. This quote had an immediate effect on me as soon as I read it. It summed up how I feel about this upcoming quarter and my life in general at this point in time. I am in my final quarter here at Lindenwood University and will have completed all the classes needed to earn my bachelor degree in Human Resource Management at the end of March. This simple, yet powerful little quote seemed to get to me on an emotional level because that is how I have worked my way through school and my life since I decided to continue my education two years ago, by taking one step at a time. I am a paramedic and have been for over fourteen years. I worked in the field on an ambulance right after I became a paramedic for many years. This was followed by several years in a busy, urban emergency department, which was also a trauma center. I enjoyed working in these environments very much and they taught me to look at life from a different point of view, one in which nothing is taken for granted. I also had the opportunity to participate in staff development programs and community outreach and training. After gaining some experience working with staff
Currently I do not participate in any of the EMS Field. I work in mental health St. Helena Hospital, and we receive many patients from the emergency room, but are not directly in the EMS Field. Within the next few weeks I will become an official volunteer EMT at Angwin ambulance. I personally have always enjoyed helping others and that's what brought me into the healthcare field. I look forward to working as an EMT because that's more along the lines of what I want to do as a career, which is an emergency room nurse. I chose the EMS Field because not only do I love helping others but I enjoyed the challenges that EMTs face and the constantly changing environment. I enjoy being on the front lines of the action and getting to play an instrumental role in everything from holding a hand saving a life.
I believe that the job role paramedics undertake on a daily basis is astonishing and admirable. Being a paramedic is a fast-paced and very highly demanding job to commit to and become involved with, they are put under astronomical amounts of pressure to care for the patients they are sent to at the most critical moments of time. The role requires you to have the ability to deal with a lot of stress and pressure being placed upon you but also having a high level of medical expertise to assess the situation and come to the quickest and best decision for the current patient. The work that paramedics have done on both friends and family has inspired and motivated me to join this medical profession. My interest in the medical profession has grown and grown since I was young.
For years I’ve dreamt of a career in which I felt I was making a difference to the world, hence I am drawn to a career in Paramedic Science; given that paramedics are needed across the globe, they are in my opinion, one of the most crucial roles in the medical field. I have spent time volunteering at Acorn Village, a community for adults with learning difficulties; it was here I realised that a job that solely focussed on helping people was something I was immensely interested in and truly valued. I have greatly developed my interpersonal and communication skills as in a setting like Acorn Village, many residents communicate in a variety of ways and I adapted to fit the needs of the residents. Some of the roles I performed included helping the residents with their chores, cleaning their rooms and accompanying the more independent residents on trips and generally socialising with the service users.
When I think about the reasons why I want to teach one reason always comes to mind. That look on the child’s face when they first see you each day. They are so happy to be there. They know that I will always be there for them. I offer them a sincere greeting and a caring environment. We joke, play, and learn together, all while making a unique connection. I love that the students teach me just as much as I will be teaching them. They teach me to live simple and stop worrying so much.
Emergency medical services has always been a part of me all throughout my life, from the time I was able to walk to now. Beginning when I was washing the ambulances into becoming an Emergency Medical Technician. Times throughout this have shaped and formed me in the direction I have taken. From the first call to going through the EMT course to today and what I see, it has all led me in a direction I am proud of for myself and for all those around me. The events I have been through and the scenes I have seen have each individually built me into a more caring and compassionate human.
Most importantly, you have to be willing to learn. In addition, the working environment includes different variables. Career Cruising describes that paramedic’s work for hospitals, private ambulance services, police and fire departments, and city and county emergency services. Paramedics work where they are needed, weather that be inside or outside. The work environment can be stressful and
The role of a paramedic has always intrigued me, and in return I have always wanted to follow the career path of one. The changing environments and the diversity of being a paramedic appeals to me greatly as I am not only used to changes of my situation, I also enjoy being taken out of my comfort zone and challenged with new opportunities and tasks. This suits my attitude and approach to work atmosphere as I work best in a team and I’m a flexible, quick thinking person who can speedily adapt to any circumstances while keeping a calm conduct which is one of the main reasons why I am suited to have a role within emergency services. I have constantly had a desire to help the public and I think pre-hospital care is one of the most effective ways I can do this. Paramedics are required deal with large amounts of stress, should think quickly and successfully work within the immediate zone of the accident, I personally believe I am suitable for this role as I want to preform
When asked why I want to be a graduate school teacher’s assistant (TA), my honest answer is the financial benefits. Being an out of state applicant, the financial responsibility is significantly higher. The University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee is my dream graduate school. The clinical opportunities, unique elective offerings, and welcoming staff are only a few reasons why I am so drawn to this program. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have worked tirelessly to get to where I am today with selecting a graduate school. After working so faithfully for the past 4 years, I do not want to let financial liability stand in my way of committing to my desired school. Being a TA will provide me with the financial backing needed to make my aspirations a reality.
Born into a family of farmers from a small village in southern part of India has given me a real life view of a community with limited health care services but significant health care needs. I still remember my own experience as a 7 year old kid walking anxiously into the hospital where my grandma was admitted with heart attack. Sitting nervously at her bedside, I watched her slowly die due to lack of proper medical care. In the course of time I lost my grandpa to diabetes, a cousin to tuberculosis, a dear friend to leukemia and my own mother from complications of pregnancy. These simple yet a significant events in my life have given me the inspiration to become a doctor.
I have chosen to become a teacher because I believe that education is the center of a country’s development process and prosperity. I want to be an educator to play an effective role in my society’s revival. Besides, I have always dreamed to be a teacher; it is a passion, which I truly have since I was young. The strong teaching motivation, which I have is derived from the deep belief that teachers can make a big difference in their students’ lives. In addition, I believe that teaching is a noble profession, which should be taken seriously. I know that being a teacher is never easy; it comes with high responsibilities and obstacles, but I am sure that I have suitable qualifications, which make me eligible to overcome them. Education as a basic concept in my perspective is all about developing knowledge, skills, values, ethics, physical and spiritual aspects,
School is a major part of our young lives. It is where we spend the majority of our time as youngsters. Children begin to develop relationships with people who have not been apart of their infancy. For someone who does not enjoy school, this could put a damper on their relationships with others as well as their learning achievements in life. This is why I want to become a teacher. I want to develop a learning atmosphere where children feel joy and security.
I believe the future of an individual depends on the quality of their education. To obtain an exceptional education, one should be in school where the environment, the educators, and the peers partake a positive impact on the student’s success. Above all else, teachers play a vital role in a child’s endeavors, and thus should create classrooms where all the students will feel safe, visible, valued, and celebrated (Kohli, & Solórzano, 2012). Though these statements are ideal and are very much associated with the innovation of the children’s bright future, are these the types of assertions that youths have encountered in school? I beg to differ, at least not in my high school.
My greatest contribution as an instructor has been the time I have spent off the podium. There are several subjects that I may not be familiar with or maybe seen as the tougher subjects or perhaps even boring. The time that is spent preparing outside of the classroom is extremely important. As an instructor first and foremost you have to spend countless hours researching a subject, analyze it, and anticipate questions. It is not a comfortable to be in front of students and not fully knowing the subject. Not only does the material have to make sense to you, you then have to take that material and think about how to explain it so that every different Soldier from every different background can make sense of it. Practicing teaching methods using different comparisons, developing training aids all takes a lot of time outside of the duty hours to deliver the best level of instruction possible. Then there is the time spent improving on the lesson plan. The lesson plans we receive are often times missing information, they order they are in doesn’t make sense and sometimes they are completely blank a give use nothing to go off of. That means dedicating the hours outside of the class room to improve or even completely build that lesson plan. Time must be spent to ensure that every piece of information the students need is included. This is not always possible we could easily spend an entire week breaking down the components of an automatic transmission and go into
Why am I a teacher? When I was a child I always had to pretend play school with my friends and I always had to be the teacher. My mom was a preschool teacher at the local day care center and I grew up seeing her cut bulletin boards and plan lessons. My best friend in middle school 's mom was also a teacher. I never wanted to be anything else and didn 't really have a back up plan if this teaching thing didn 't work out. In this paper I will take you on a journey through my educational years in elementary school and middle school, my time high school, delve into my time in college and then into my career as a teacher.
From the time I was a seven years old till the current day, as a Sophomore at Benedictine University, I have wanted to become a teacher. The four years of high school, Oswego High School, I truly become passionate to become a teacher. I took the necessary general education classes, and my elective classes learning about child development and early childhood education. Once I graduated high school, I felt confident to become a teacher, but I discovered that special education was what I truly wanted to do. From the first day or first grade up to now, I have become a success student, which I can’t wait to become teacher I want to be an aspirational teacher one day to my future students.
