The important reason that I apply to Project SELF is for the reason that it's going to guide me find a future career. I could also give my opinion if asked
Six years after graduating High School, I have finally decided to pursue a college education. Three, fairly common, factors played in to my decision to go back to school: learning new things, building confidence in myself and pursuing my desired career. I understand that graduating college is a difficult task, which is why I must make a plan for my success and stick to it. I must also rely on my personal strengths and my motivation to guide me through the tough times that I am sure to experience on my road to success to get my degree in Criminal Justice. I have always been a person who is eager to learn new things.
I have no intention on wasting time explaining how “it would be a good experience” and how such would “help me grow as a person”, statements which I would venture to guess are present in 95% of applications your organization receives.
College is often a word that can bring positive or negative thoughts depending on one’s experiences. The process of being accepted, maintaining high standards once accepted, and then paying off debts is stressful. Once adapted to college, the most important task is determining what you want to do with your life. Dan Rather once said, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity (“Quotes about College Students”).” The biggest question a student must ask themselves is “What door do I want to open up for the rest of my life?” For instance, two characteristics that describe me are athletic and business minded. As I searched for
The Senior Project is an important part of a student’s final year of high school. It integrates skills, concepts and data from the student’s program of study into one culminating project. Students work on individual projects. A Senior Project consists of a major product/artifact, portfolio, oral presentation and a written reflection paper.
The article “Project-Based Instruction: A Great Match for Informational Texts” by Nell K. Duke, discusses the concept of implementing project based learning and how it can markedly improve student’s education. According to Duke, project based instruction involves “working over an extended time period for a purpose beyond satisfying a school requirement” (Duke 2016). This includes doing projects in order to “build something, to create something, to respond to a question [students] have, or to solve a real problem” (Duke 2016). The article maintains the benefits of this type of instruction and includes specific examples of how it can be implemented in the school curriculum and Common Core State Standards. Duke also emphasizes how the projects should serve a real- life purpose so students can feel more engaged knowing their work will be seen by
The project was an embodiment of my service to the community that served me years before and made me into the person I am today. Service is something that everyone should feel
The project I did for the Shakespeare project was building The Globe Theater. I decided to do this project because I enjoy building different things with my hands. I worked on this project with a partner. I enjoyed working with a partner rather than alone because I like to have fun while I do projects.
The third piece that I picked out was a virtual child project, which I did in developmental psychology. Where I raised a child online, I had to make decisions on parenting skills for example how to discipline the child if the child misbehaves at school. Understand the different behaviors of the child based on the age and the different stages the child is at in her life. I had to write two different papers. This was a semester long project. I think this project demonstrates my high commitment level and my decision making skills. I hope to show my cognitive thinking abilities as
In addition, I value the work most do in offices because at times it is very tedious. Every individuals job is important in an office setting because it is like a well running machine. If one part is not functioning then the entire machine is useless. It is crucial to be responsible with all tasks to have the company running smoothly. By meeting deadlines at the time stated or earlier. As well as always taking initiative for tasks you might understand how to complete because it may help your company excel . It allows you to gain experience and develop you skills, which is how this internship has helped me. Every since I arrived at Tabor, I knew I wanted to do a senior project. I have always learned best by doing and a senior project encapsulates that idea wholly. For me, a senior project means the opportunity to learn a skill or complete a project that I would not have had the time or the means otherwise. I want to do a senior project because it would give me that opportunity to learn new skills.

I came across this internship while I was scrolling through my university’s career page and it immediately caught my eye. I had been looking to further my experience in editing and publishing and looking at this application seemed too good to be true. The M-School program is everything I was looking for in an internship because it values its interns unlike most internships. This drew me in right away and after I researched as much as I could about the program, I wanted in. I am currently in my second year of university at Trent University and I am studying English literature will study business in the next school year.
The Student Learner Project helped me, and others, understand the problems of the field I was volunteering in. I observed and evaluated students, in an elementary school, in their P.E. class to gain knowledge on obesity and diabetes. It showed me where we need to improve within ourselves and the community to battle these diseases. Doing this project also helped undergraduates connect with their community and gain experience in the field they are volunteering in.
What motivates me most to pursue a college degree is opening new doors for career options and inspiring my daughter through my own actions to pursue lifelong learning. I have waited until this point in my life to take this first step for many reasons. I feel that I had a lot of fear of failure that kept me from pursuing this higher learning. I am in the right place mentally at this stage in my life and feel like I can fully invest in this experience and make it truly a success and representation of what I can do. I am also highly motivated by the fact that my career is truly stalled because I am not competition for someone that has equal experience and a degree. I plan to conquer that competition through this process.
