First of all sports keep our youth out of trouble. “Sports lead to less smoking, drug use, pregnancy, and risky sex”(“Active Kids Do”). Sports lead to less of all these things because most high school sports have a two hour practice 4 - 5 times a week plus a game so, in doing that it gives less time for our youth to be caught up in illegal activities. Also kids will have to feel the rave of the coach if they get in trouble because that usually means they can’t play a game and the whole team is depending on them. All in all sports help kids stay out of trouble.
The most important reason why kids should play competitive sports is that they teach them life lessons. For example, Sarah Davis, the author of “What Are the Benefits of Competitive Sports for Youth?” in her article argues that by playing competitive sports kids will learn life lessons. She claims,“...competitive sports can help kids learn life lessons
The first reason that kids should not play competitive sports is that they are stressful. Kids who play competitive sports often experience stress from wanting the recognition involved with winning. According to LiveStrong, “The mounting pressure to play well can increase stress and make children feel bad and lose confidence should they make mistakes or lose” (Huggins 2017). This shows that kids want to win and be the best player on the team, which can result in stress or pressure. When kids are put on the bench or the team loses, the players may experience low self-esteem. Also, participating in a competitive sport also takes up time because of the intense training schedule that is demanded. Because of that, kids may stress about schoolwork or other activities. This can develop failing grades or other consequences. Time.com states, “Student-athletes tend to take easier classes and get lower grades than non-athletes” (Square 2015). This is important to notice because the intense schedules that the athletes have may not allow enough time for schoolwork. The schoolwork may not be completed or fully understood, which can lead to lower academic excellence and poor grades. Competitive sports are unhealthy to kids’ minds. They can cause stress and pressure, and may lead to poor grades and other academic issues.
The importance and benefits of school sports have been questioned recently, a current article has showed that both students and schools have improved as a result of limiting athletic programs. Therefore, schools should get rid of sports to cut big costs, eliminate distractions from students and staff, and improve student academic achievement.

Parents who care about their child, support sports, or cares about our next generation then help save sports! Today’s generation of teens are getting more and more lazy as technology increases. High school sports will keep kids more busy and get them off their phone/tablet and on the field.
High school is all about having good grades and making sure that all the sporting teams make it to state. Highs school sports have been around since the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Since then, students, teachers, and other parts of the community have made sports a priority over academics. Some parents, administrators, and even teachers are wanting to get high school sports taken away. They say it takes up too much time, cost too much money, and too dangerous. Even though these things may be true, there are plenty of alternatives to make sure that high school athletes can live their dream.
Schools should keep their sports programs because sports help with academic achievements. Kids have more focus when they get physical activity. When kids get that activity it releases the hormones that have building up in your body. A quotes from Scholastic Should Your School Get Rid of Sports it said, “When you’re stressed,
Should or should kids not play competitive sports, this popular debate leaves some people with a passion broken hearted, and others hurt physically because they pushed too hard. Others believe that competitive sports are a godsend, parents can finally get their kids to exercise, and kids finally realize the benefits of being active. It's clear that both sides of the argument have pros and cons, but competitive sports is a clear winner. Kids should be able to play competitive sports because of the amazing health benefits both mentally and physically, the social advantages such as making more friends, And more than anything kids can feel better on the inside with boosted confidence and a sense of belonging.
These are the reasons why sports should be removed to save money, prevent other classes from being cut out, and allow students to focus on learning. If we eliminate sports there will be more money for other academics, other classes will continue to teach kids what they love, and students will get better grades. This proves that if sports are removed, our schools will have many more opportunities to improve their environmental conditions and education, making a better society for our
If they take away competition they take away competitive people as well. Many people in even gym class at our school play games very, very seriously. If we play King of the Hill, there’s bound to be a bloody nose or hurt feelings of someone being a little too competitive and trying to win. If we play run and gun there’s usually two guys that just play catch scoring touchdowns because they don’t want the other kids touching the ball because they want to win so bad. Take away the competitive sports they would lose some of those workhorse athletes, those “I’m going to do whatever it takes to beat that other team”
Which can help us “Initiate the ability to set and go after goals,” which is “a part of the competitive process”(Source 2). This shows high school sports can also help us develop a competitive character, which can guide us in the long run. Yet another reason why we should keep sports in high schools. Although school is for learning, on the other hand sports can help us learn to be better people over all. We shouldn't take sports out of high school when it can help us learn more. If we took sports away from high school students, it would drain the chance at learning experiences. They wouldn’t have every good sportsmanship, or a competitive side. They also wouldn’t receive positive recognition. So why even think of taking sports away
To begin with reasons, one reason why we should not eliminate the school sport teams is students have the physical activity they need to stay fit. It could help you stay healthy, especially in the future. People need as much exercise they need to stay fit. Without sports, students do not get the opportunity to ever play. I think having sports shows a better look on the school.
With sports, districts could struggle to get students to their highest level of education. It is easy to see that with no athletic activities, schools can save money, time, and students could focus on their academics. Therefore, it is essential that schools dispose of sports so they can thrive in the long run of
