Rough Draft - Unit 2 EA 2 In today's society you see kids as well as adults at skateparks, in the neighborhood, the park, etc. All riding skateboards, but not wearing a helmet. To them they trust themselves that they won't crash but it's not always them that can cause themselves to crash but other skaters, cars, even people out on a nice run, you turn a corner and next thing you know bang, you crash. With all these dangers you think it would make sense to strap on a helmet. But for some reason skaters do not agree and keep getting head injuries and have to be isolated from what they love, skating. And this why helmets should be mandatory while riding a skateboard. Concussions are a major cause for skaters head injuries. This damage causes
the helmet covers your whole face and head in order to protect you face from getting kicked in the face after getting bucked off. wearing a helmet is required if you are under 19 years of age. i feel that the helmet should be required for all ages.( in bull-riding you try to stay on a wild, 2,000 pound bull, some with horns the size of my arm. These bulls have tight straps around there butt to make them kick and jump harder. And all you have to hold on to is a single rope. if you fall of, the bull can stomp, trample, or horn you, and you could break bones from the fall (bull riding, 2015). So in the case of safety i feel that helmets should be required for all ages and at all
In the story “Caviar”, both husband Nathaniel and wife Marie suffer a loss of innocence. It is Nathaniel, however, that goes through the greatest degree of loss. He may have caused his wife's loss of innocence by having an affair with their surrogate, Wendy, but he lost so much himself. Marie though having lost a husband, got the child she had so desperately wanted. Nathaniel was left with nothing as he lost his wife, his mistress, and his new born son.
On the word of Blaine Hoshizaki March 8, 2011 in the local news article entitled “Ottawa Researcher Rethinks Hockey Helmet,”” Most concussions occur when there is a hit to the head that turns the head at the same time, various design factors make current helmets ill suited to protecting players against this type of hit, including helmet shape.” As Hoshizaki stated previously, a hockey helmet’s basic shape is the shape of the player’s head. The problem primary problem with the shape is in accordance with players being directly hit by a forceful object, such as an elbow or even the hockey puck. Modern hockey helmets are designed with impact in mind; Meaning, helmets are not meant to withstand major blows from a body check, which physically move the receiving player’s head in a certain direction of which makes the brain collide with the inside of the skull. The reasoning behind Hoshizaki’s research is to maintain safety as well as effectiveness in player equipment.
The compulsory wearing of helmets does reduce the number of fatalities associated with motor cycling and pedal cycling accidents. Data from a variety of studies overwhelmingly supports this fact. When discussing motorcycle helmets, there is a 40% prevention of fatal and 13% prevention of nonfatal serious injuries associated with their use, according to Adam, et al. (1453). After Florida repealed its mandatory helmet law in favor of one that allowed helmets for those over 21 with $10,000 in insurance to be optional, motorcycle fatalities increased across the state (Hooten and Murad, 1329). According to Boone, et al., the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated that the use of helmets prevented 1,630 deaths in 2013 and could have prevented 715 more if all motorcyclists wore helmets (3). In a study of almost 17,000 patients admitted to the hospital for motorcycle crashes, 37% of the riders were not wearing helmets. These 37% accounted for 69% of the deaths among these patients (Dua, et al. 1184).
Imagine standing out on the football field. Green turf underneath your cleats. You are a defensive linebacker, and all your teammates are cheering you on. Your team is winning, but not by much. You take it on yourself to make sure it stays that way. As the quarterback yells “Hike!”, you run as fast as you can to make sure the running back doesn’t slip through. Your mind on the game, and nothing else. And suddenly, you stop, as your head strikes another helmet. You clutch your helmet and fall, hoping that nothing bad had happened. As your safety team comes out and treats you, you realize that this hit might be the last ever. For this reason, the dangerous sports like football, rugby, and many more should be banned, for the good and healthiness
Specifically, the rule that “a student athlete suspected of having a concussion is required to be pulled from a game, examined by a doctor and receive written permission to return to practice or a game,” because in rural areas getting to a doctor may not be as easy as compared to a urban area (Simpson, & Crane, 2011, Opposing view: Risk shouldn't be legislated). Another argument they present is that concussions are only estimated for a tiny fraction of injuries in high school sports and improving safety equipment is reducing the numbers even more. They end with describing a situation in New York, when state health officials tried to classify common physical education and summer camp games like wiffle ball, kickball and tag as a "significant risk of injury" (Simpson, & Crane, 2011, Opposing view: Risk shouldn't be legislated). Simpson and Crane’s said, “this move would have required summer camps to pay a fee and have medical equipment and staff on hand to treat possible injuries.” Perhaps Simpson and Crane have valid arguments, but professionals still suggest an enhanced protocol to be put in place (Simpson, & Crane, 2011, Opposing view: Risk shouldn't be
One of the things I would like to address is that I think when It comes down to it helmets do help the impact lessen by having cushion to protect shock waves from traveling and causing more damage. The impact that causes a concussion has to be pretty hard it isn't something that can happen lightly it has to be a pretty hard hit,
I Gloria Davis give authorization to Lonestar Ford to inspect my vehicle the 2013 Buick Regal to assess the damage .And to determine rather the damage is repairable,if so to also estimate the amount of the repair. I
Every wondered how dangerous a simple sport like Football can be ? I’m sure you’ve seen it at least once on your Television. I’m sure you once thought to yourself how awesome it is to have a career where you can be paid millions to chase around a ball in front of a camera. I’m sure you believe that those football players are living the life, But do you really know the true price they’re paying ? Imagine your son/daughter asks you to allow them to join their school’s football team, Who wouldn’t want a star athlete kid right ! Wrong. I’m positive you believe that the thick armor and helmets they wear are enough to protect them from any serious internal and external injuries right ? You’re wrong again. Wanna know a secret ? Those helmets don’t protect your child against any Concussions at all. According to David Camarillo’s TED Talk titled
Many people think that to wear a helmet should a personal desition and should be not mandatory. After all, if harm is cause for not wearing a helmet, it will be a personal harm and no a general harm for society, “People have the right to chose their own poison” (Rosenstand, 255).
From my perspective, there should be mandatory helmet laws throughout the United States. I have witnessed the injuries and losses of lives from those involved in accidents. Some wore helmets and some did not.
Helmets are a major guideline that needs to be improved because a helmet is there to protect the head and prevent concussions but it doesn't seem to be doing a good job. Now there's always that question of “why don't we just make the helmet better and more equipped to prevent concussions?”, well we've had football around for years now and if it hasn't been done yet I don't think it will ever be done. According to the North Eastern Undergraduate Writing Journal, since the 1970s, helmets have been made with a polycarbonate shell, a steel face mask, and padding which is just foam and inflatable air bladders. Even though modern helmets maybe more
In answer to the question, Do you think that people under 16 should have to wear a helmet while skating, biking, rollerblading, skiing, and ect. I believe that they should. Kids are commonly hurt in accidents and need to be safe. Remember Murphy's law, “Anything that can go wrong will, and normally at the worst moment”.
Compendium of Leadership Topics Nursing is defined as the art of caring. For nurse leaders this encompasses caring for the patient, the bed-side nurses, and the staff they will lead through the journey of health care. Important topics for nurse leaders and managers to explore are innovations, change management, systems thinking, communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, policy, advocacy, decision making, organizational climate, and culture. Examining these topics is essential to understanding ones’ own values and perspectives, but also allows interactive conversations on the art of caring.
Protective gear are available everywhere for a reason. Although protecting teeth during a sport or an activity may seem insignificant, it is important that students do what their parents and coaches ask them to put on as a type of protection. Not only would it protect them while they play, but it would make the game safe for everyone else.
