Why Is Malala Important?

Malala Visits the girls who are imprisoned in their homes, not allowed to go to school or learn anything. She Instructs the ignorant Taliban to let girls learn and have their basic rights of freedom. And she feeds the girls who are hungry for knowledge. Malala is a true modern day prophet and lives a life that reflects the works of mercy. As Malala says when talking about standing up for herself, “I said to myself, Malala you must be brave. You must not be afraid of anyone. You are only trying to get an education. You are not committing a crime.”.

Malala Youafzai is now a inspiring activist for women's education. Malala has a strong passion for education and loved school as a child. She lived in terriable circumstances in which a radical terrorist group, the Taliban, was terrorizing her city. Enforcing cruel strict Islamic law Malala bravly spoke out against the Taliban. Through many courages and tragic events Malala was globaly noticed, bringing attention to the issues of childrens and womens education and influencing millions of people.

Kristen Lewis’ article, “Malala the Powerful” was about how a girl as shot in the head by the terrorist group, the Taliban because she was using her voice to stand up and say everyone deserves an education, especially girls. In Pakistan, the religion is strict therefore the Taliban decided to control the government, that made life for women and girls brutal. The Taliban ordered that girls were not allowed to attend school. Malala completely disagreed so she used her voice on the internet incognito to bring awareness about what was happening. Who is Malala? She is a worldwide figure who is famous for her dangerous stand she took for girl’s right to education. She is in England, far away from her house in Pakistan. She won the Nobel Peace Prize and she is a symbol for girl’s right to education. But what was she before all of these happenings. Who was she? What happened? What was her past? One of Malala’s famous quotes is,“We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.” Why did she write this quote? Was it derived from her experience? Yes. The reason Malala’s voice was silenced was because of the Taliban and Fazlullah.

Malala was a young girl living in the middle east, sneaking around nearby terrorist trying to get an education. One day, on their way to school, her bus was stopped and attacked by terrorist. The terrorist started shooting and Malala was shot in the head. She miraculously survived and after years of therapy recovered. She now travels the world sharing her story and standing up for girls everywhere. Malala took a tragedy and turned it into an inspiration.

The article, “Malala the Powerful” by Kristin Lewis, describes the roughness of Malala, a Jewish girl, who like many girl Jews, crumbled in the hands of Taliban. Malala was alive when the Taliban took over Pakistan. She and many other girl jews were kicked out of school and forced to follow all these stitched rules. In 2009, Malala took action and started a blog. She talked on T.V shows about how hard life was like and was standing up to the Taliban. In 2010, the Taliban shot Malala in the face but she and many other Jews still survived. Though she lived in rough and tough challenges, Malala show lots of courage trying to stand up to the Taliban and their powerful government.

Malala is considered a hero in our society because she is very persistent in her beliefs. Malala believes that everyone should be able to have equal rights to education because, education is power to grow and succeed in life (Kailash Satyarthi). This shows that in today’s society people value someone who is willing to fight for equality for all races, religions, sexes, and ethnicities. In addition, Malala does show weakness throughout her journey to promote education equality. Malala begins to confront the Taliban, a major terrorist group that controlled Swat Valley. This is a mistake by her because she does not realize the consequences of her rebellious actions for education equality to a well-established terror group that could kill her and her family. This shows that in today’s society, people are not simply portraying a hero as a person who is strong and skillful. Malala is an inspirational figure known worldwide. Not only does she fight for an education for all those who lack access, but also equality to women worldwide. Malala is an avid activist who travels world wide and is the winner of a nobel peace prize for her New York Times bestseller I Am Malala.

She speaks out against girl’s rights. According to www.biography.com, in 2013, she gave a speech to the United Nations and published her first book, “I Am Malala”. In 2014, she won the Nobel Peace Prize. When she was only 14 years old, she was shot in the head by two Taliban men. Taliban is a group of people who refers to itself as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist political movement in Afghanistan currently waging war within that country. She was riding home from school on a bus when two gunmen jumped onto the bus and asked who Malala was. When her friends looked at her, the gunman pointed at Malala and fired. Along with Malala, two of her friends were shot. The bullet went right through Malala’s head and neck. Magical, she survived. Even after she was shot, she continued to speak out for girl’s

The media has dealt with Malala’s story depending where the news is coming from it is dealt with differently some news stations talked more about the terrorism aspects, some talked more about her standing up to the taliban, and others talked about her condition and how she was after the shooting. Malala isn't very important in the contemporary world because many people still don't know her and her story and if they are aware of her they know very little. Malala’s memoir and documentary fits in her life by being able to spread her story to wider audience and let them know what she has gone through and what she is fighting for.

This is where Malala’s conflict of being shot helped her in her fight for women’s rights because now she had the attention of the world. Malala used this attention to tell everyone her message that all humans are created equally and have the right to an education. Chapter 23: Malala was seen as a hero to the Pakistani people due to her efforts to improve the lives of many of the people through her promotion of education. Despite the fact that she was a target, as was her father, she did not shy away from doing what she thought was right and was not afraid to stand up for her beliefs. Many did see her as a representative of Pakistan as she had won the Nobel Peace Prize, she was well known to Pakistanis and the world. While certainly she was well known before the shooting the shooting only increased her renown worldwide. The Pakistanis largely viewed her as what was right and good about their country, devote to her faith, her education and to making the world a better place for all, especially young women seeking education.

It was a very long and hard fought battle, which she is still fighting today. Malala is the girl who stood up to the Taliban. When the Taliban found her a threat to them they had to get rid of her and failed. Now we are here today reading her book, ‘I am Malala.”

Malala was shot for sticking up for what she believed in. Now Malala uses being shot as a campaign to promote an education in women rights. The Taliban thought that shooting at her would “silence” her but actually it made her act out more and stand up more than she did at first. Malala states, "Malala day is not my day. Today is the day of every woman, every boy and every girl who have raised their voice for their rights."

“The next day he went on a live show on the voice of America and angrily condemned the attacks.” It is very frightening to speak up against something so powerful and evil, example: The Taliban. However, if the whole world were to realize that the power of these hate groups comes from the creation of fear, maybe everyone would be a bit more like Malala’s dad, and not have the fear to speak up for what is right. The author is trying to show us that no matter our circumstances we can all find the courage to fight for what we know is right.
