Why is Marvel better than DC? What makes Marvel better than DC? Is it because they make their superheroes more relatable? On the other hand, is how Marvel portrays the movies? It may not seem like a controversial topic, but for some people it is. Both of these could be right or it could only be one. Marvel produces twice as many movies than DC does. Marvel produces a better quality of movies compared to DC. DC copies some of the action and ideas that Marvel comes uses. This is what makes Marvel so much better than DC. Marvel produces nearly twice as many movies compared to DC. DC started strong by making The Dark Night in 2008 winning eight Oscar nominations and two wins. Next, they made The Dark Night Rises to solve the polarizing Watchman movie they made in 2009, and 2010’s unwatchable Jonah Hex, and 2011’s all-around disappointing Green Lantern. By that time, Marvel had already successfully produced an Iron Man sequel, three standalones, and its first Avengers movie with unprecedented, explosive universe of connected superhero designs. DC reacted by trying to fast forward to the big show with the ambitious slate by rushing Batman versus Superman in order to lay the ground …show more content…
Marvel makes the superheroes in their movies more human like making it easier to relate to them. They have human hearts, human minds, and human weaknesses. They are tempted by bad decisions just as everyone else is. They all have egos, whether they know it or not. Marvels superheroes are just like us, just bigger, faster, and some of them can fly. DC on the other had makes Superman who has none of the human characteristics. He is an overly handsome man in pajamas. Batman, who struggles with the same guilt complex for over 73 years, and can never get over it, now look at the X-Men. They are malformed people who are different from everyone else. Nobody can relate to them. Yet they manage to carry themselves with dignity and
The introduction of Marvel 's first superhero team, The Fantastic Four, established the company 's reputation. The majority of Marvel Comics superhero stories were written by Stan Lee. Lee and Steve Ditko generated the most successful new series in The Amazing Spider-Man. Marvel 's comics had a reputation for focusing on characterization to a greater extent than most superhero comics before them. Take for example, Iron Man.
Quantity wise, Marvel has more films than DC. If we were to count the number of movies that have been released to the public, there have been 3 Spiderman movies, 1 upcoming Spiderman reboot, 2 Fantastic Four films, and 3 X-Men films with 1 released stand alone film (Wolverine) and 1 upcoming prequel (X-Men: First Class). Comparing this to the number of DC films released since 2000, which includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Superman Returns, 1 upcoming Batman film and 1 Superman Reboot, Marvel still by far outnumbers DC even by the standard of the rules we set up. (If we were not to consider the rules, we would have to include the Iron Man series, the Hulk films as well as the upcoming Thor, Captain America, Avengers films and more. And these movies would only count those that are the most popular and haven 't even considered movies such as the Blade trilogy, the Punisher series, Daredevil, and many more. While DC has the Watchmen, Constantine, Catwoman and Green Lantern films, DC is still by far outnumbered by Marvel.)
Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that will be compared are ones with near god-like abilities. Superman is one of these god-like heroes from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and laser vision. Although he was killed in the events of Batman V Superman, he was revived in the events of Justice League. Superman could destroy tanks, planes and other enemies with relative ease. His comparative hero from the Marvel universe is Thor. Although Thor cannot fly without his hammer, he has the ability to call down lightning, super strength and immortality. Thor did lose his eye in the events of Thor: Ragnarok,
The superhero films was once unheard of by people but the genre has moved to a mainstream audience over time and has gained huge profits by the films that are created. This genre has been on the rise since 1940s when the comics on batman originally came out. Popular stars are always willing to play the main protagonist in the film in order to increase chances of profit. They also need an eye-catching marketing campaign to draw in a new audience by trailers, posters, adverts, sponsors.
The main factor that tells me that Superman is a better Superhero is that fact that he actually has powers whereas Batman has to rely on money. Superman has many powers such as: Extreme strength, invulnerability, heat and x-ray vision, super breath, and flight. Batman on the other hand, has no powers and without his billionaire status, would
By now we should all know the two leading Industries in superhero comics, graphic novels and blockbusters,Marvel and DC. and although both companies are great in their own ways, comic fans everywhere love to debate about which side is better. on one side fans argue DC is better because They were the original superhero company, that gave birth to some of the most iconic superheroes today, such as Batman,Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash. But I say that Marvel is better because I believe superhero should be human to a certain degree In order for us, the readers/viewers to relate, they should just be normal people with exceptional powers and a moral compass. they should have basic human wants and needs and inner strengths and weaknesses
The superheroes are way to different people, they both have very strong powers and similarities. They don't show their power the same. I would say they are more similar, They just don't show their power the same
DC is known for creating a more dark, serious feel to their movies. Marvel Comics create a more lively feel, and their movies usually have some more comedy than DC's movies.
I’m not quite sure when my obsession for superheroes started; as long as I can remember Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman, and many more, have been fixtures in my life. They save people and did amazing things. People who can leap buildings, lift cars and protect those they love are something I have always wanted to aspire to, as a child as well as now. These characters and the comics in which they reside are parents, brothers, and friends to the people who read them. Growing up, for the most part, I couldn’t relate to the characters I saw up on a TV or on some paper.
Marvel vs. DC comics is a battle that began in the early 90’s and has never ceased since. Both gaining an abundant amount of recognition from fans worldwide. From little toddlers to fully grown adults, the numbers continue to spread like wildfire. However, what are the major similarities and differences between both comics? The similarity is that, both incorporated all heroes in one setting, attempted to focus on different genres that disregarded superheroes, and started developing heroes again by adding more personal issues to the comics. For differences, Marvel was set on real world locations while those in DC were more fictional and Marvel heroes developed powers overtime while those in DC were originally born with abilities. These reasoning’s stated above, depict crucial differences between both companies while also providing their similarities which fuse them together.
In the 1982 graphic novel, X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills by Claremont and Anderson the few superheroes from the X-Men series are introduced in chapter one differently than a typical superhero would be first introduced. The author and illustrator worked together to introduce them in a different way to compare being a man-good creature versus just a normal human being. Superheroes are often portrayed all in the same way due to their same characteristics that make up the basic superhero. As Coogan states a superhero must possess three main qualities: mission, power and identity. Coogan defines the mission of a superhero the reason of being a middle man between an evil forces and innocent civilians.
People always have debates about whether Marvel Or DC is a better and who has the better superheroes. Both comic book companies have had great superheroes, and some are better than others. The Flash and Quicksilver both have similarities but they also have many differences. A lot of factors go into deciding what makes a superhero better than another, including things like their origin story, their powers, and their villains.
The constant battle between our favorites has shown itself common now more than ever. Who do we like better? What do we like better? What is the absolute best? Are these questions necessary? No. But do they keep our lives interesting? Oh yes. In the spring of every year, there always seems to be a new superhero movie that debuts and leaves us on the edge of our seats, waiting for the next one. This year, we are being blessed with two movies, from two separate corporations, Marvel and DC; which leaves us with the question… Who did it better?
Now Marvel has over 15 movies and all of them are amazing Guardians Of The Galaxy blew my mind And I didn’t even know who they were at the time. My third reason is Marvel actually knows what to do with their characters. Now don’t get me wrong DC can do some good things with their characters. Like how they did Batman and the Flash but that’s about it.
Marvel Studios’ movies is like a path to travel on as an audience member (Menard, 2014, p. 28). Across a decade worth of films and tv shows, there has been a there has been more than 60 characters that the Marvel Studios universe contains (Menard, 2014, p. 54). There has been a lot of conflict and character development, because of the multiple events that happens in the other movies (ComicBookCast2,2016). There a lot of example of this happening, such as the new york event in The Avengers (ComicBookCast2,2016). The event in the Avengers spread into the Avengers, Iron man 3 Captain America: Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age
