Touch Down! Home run! Goal! If you heard of these phrases, you probably imagine of sports. Professional sports are one of the hardest jobs to have. It might seem easy, but it really isn't. Once playing a professional sport, every drip of sweat is worth it. Which people who do not play sports only care about their salary, in which I believe they should make the money they make because they earned it.
Over 35% of the worlds' population play professional sports, and 5% of that 35% have high salaries. Most players care about the salary, and only play the sport because of it. I know that there are other jobs that are important and do not have high enough salaries. The most talk jobs that almost everyone states about having the highest
Sports are part of the everyday life of many people across the world, and in the United States sports are even more present in its society's life due to the fact that there are four major sports in the country. But should the professional athletes from these sports earn salaries as high as ten or twentieth times more than the national average wage? The answer should be NO. Professional athletes must be well remunerated but can not be overpaid when there are many issues around the world that can be solved with money. At this present age, professional athletes do not play for the love of the sport, and what they really care is what is going to be the amount of money in their contracts. The fans who support their teams have the majority of guilt in the high salaries of these athletes. Any team or franchise of any sport will not be able pay excessive salaries to their players if they do not sell jerseys, tickets, packages trip, accessories related to players, and games package on TV cables. The national government should intervene in the sports federation's policies and set a salary cap that do not diverges from its population reality.
Corruption, scandals, suspensions, firings and a systems that is systematically flawed all the while the fact of the matter is that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a organization that is bringing in billions of dollars each year yet the labor force generating the money gets a scholarship that many athletes believe doesn’t pay enough for everything that is needed on campus so this leads the author to have to take a look at if athletes need to be paid. I will outline numerous problems that are going on in college athletics and possible solutions to problems. I will take a look at the scholarship itself
Football is an extremely rough sport; according to Sportsters.com, “football players put their life on the the line every day as they risk life threatening injuries such as concussions, broken limbs, heart-attacks, paralyzation and even death.” Another interesting point is that colleges and college coaches earn millions of dollars on the backs of the athletes while the players themselves are not authorized to receive one dime for their work. Therefore, if teenage athletes take such life threatening risks on a daily basis, they should at least earn a paycheck while doing so, and if the coaches and colleges
The question of should student athletes get paid is an argument that is growing in debate in recent years. Mostly pertaining to college Football and Basketball. Especially when the revenue generated from these sports rival those of its professional counterparts. Some would argue that receiving a full athletic scholarship is payment enough. Or, student athletes are no different from any college student working their way through college. However, these student athletes are not guaranteed full scholarships and deal mostly the same pressures of athletes that make their living playing these sports.
“It may seem unfair that athletes get paid to play a game, but remember who they are actually playing for: us.”Athletes get paid more money, but they do non-stop work/practice. Firefighters might go to a few training lessons in a lifetime. Athletes Constantly are improving.”We have to have the mentality that we have to work for everything we’re going to get.” -Stephen Curry. Many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. Some people think that athletes shouldn’t get paid as much as they do. I honestly think they deserve to get paid like they do.
Athletes are paid huge sums of money to play sports. First, the average Cubs player earned over 6 million dollars in 2012. Next, some MLB players will earn more in one game than the average American household makes in 10 years. An NHL Blackhawks player earned over 124 million dollars in 13 years. Why should athletes get paid so much to play a game?
I chose the topic about if I think that professional athletes should get paid more than teachers, doctors, firefighter or law enforcement.
Imagine a perfect world where everyone gets paid based on their importance to society. Which profession would earn the most money? Professional athletes are one of the highest paid groups of people in the world. However, what do they actually give to society? The amount of money given to these athletes is far more than teachers, firefighters, police officers, and soldiers. Thus, professional athletes earn too much money.
If you were an athlete would you like to get paid, for what you enjoy to do? There are many reasons why an athlete should get paid, for their hard work to help and represent their school. For example, the Amount of Time Spent on Athletics, Time Out of Class, and Lack of Competition. These are three main reasons why the athlete should be able to show their talented and get paid for it also.
Did you know that some professional athletes get paid up to ten million dollars? Yes, some athletes actually get paid as high as thirty million depending on the sport. Sometimes all of that money could just be bonuses. Most athletes get paid for insane reasons and most aren't just scoring. For example, most NFL players get paid for the merchandise or ticket sales! These players should get paid this much they worked hard to get there, most people can't do what they do, and people enjoy watching them play these sports.
There are many people in this world who are living just fine when they are making normal amounts of money. For example, I am living perfectly fine, but my parents do not make money even close to the amount that professional athletes do. Athletes do experience many injuries that are expensive, but if they can afford that, then I am pretty sure they should not be able to afford a multi-million-dollar home and 5 cars as well. If you do make that much money, it definitely should not be for playing a sport. There are other people that need it more than they do. This ties in to my next
From the 66% of boys who have played sports to going from the 1.1% that can make it to the pro level. These people have put copious amount of work and time to get to this level and people still say they don’t deserve their pay. Sports have been around for thousands of year and have been enjoyed by billions. Since Billions will pay to watch sports it generates billions for each sports industry, and the players involved in their sport deserve a cut of that money earned. I claim that athletes are not overpaid because they earn revenue for their team, less than 2% make it to the professional level, and PGA players earn most of their money through tournament winnings.
We can also take an account that athletes are getting paid a lot of money because the professional sports industry is a huge business with millions of fans going to games each year. As it was said earlier, players get most of their money from endorsements and from the fans buying merchandise and buying tickets to see games. Professional athletes only make about 1% of an organization's total earnings. This means that the income the athletes are getting from organization’s is barely anything.People also argue that playing a sport isn't a real job so they shouldn't get paid. The only problem with that argument is how many people go to games or have something memorable, like a hat, from their favorite team. So, their argument means nothing as they are the ones feeding cash to the players, buy buying tickets, buying food at the games, buying merchandise, etc. The people who complain do not
Money is flooding into these athletic departments and the athletes benefit in many ways, but do athletes deserve to be paid for what? Most people think they shouldn’t be paid because where would they get the money from. Athletes should be paid for what they do because it could keep them in school.
Do you think that entertainment is more important than health and safety? Based on the salaries of professional athletes, it is apparent that our country believes so. In the past year, the players on the Cleveland Cavaliers made an astounding total of $131.8 million. That is more than 10 times the amount of money that a neurosurgeon will make in 10 years. Although athletes show incredible talent and dedication, one can see that they are being paid too much after comparing their salaries to the salaries of others who show these same traits.
