Why Take School Hours

The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. Do you agree or disagree? I disagree strongly on this topic because school is already stressful and having to do one hour and a half of work each school day probably make us just absolutely hate school. That one hour and a half can change a lot, because of being so bored because could do some very dumb things which could cause people's lives to be changed.

Schools around the world have problems considering starting times. Many parents and teachers enjoy the time schools begin and are in love the fact that schools get out earlier. I for one, believe that school hours should be pushed back for the benefit of the students. If students and teens were able to go to school later, their learning opportunities and attentiveness would raise significantly.

Introduction:I disagree with adding another hour of school because the students don't need to be at school all day.They need to be at home so they can rest,do other things.

I am strongly opposed with the Dickenson County school boards plans to extend our school day an extra hour and a half. I do not feel that this extension would help the students in our schools. Our school days are all ready seven hours a day so in addition to this seven hours of school would make it eight and a half hours. Adding this extension would kill us. We would not have near enough time for anything after school. We would have to just focus on our school work and nothing else because we would also be under a lot of stress. That is my reason why that this is a bad idea.

Across the nation school systems and counties are considering to extend school by a hour and a half for students and staff. I personally do not agree with this idea because of the following reasons. To begin with, I personally think that it would be a waste of time because we would have less time to do task that we would have to do. Also, it would feel like we would have less time in a day which means we would have less free time and during school hours we would have more chances to get into trouble. Finally, it would make it complicated and cause difficulties for the bus driver and the bus schedule. As can be seen, adding a hour and a half would take time away from everything else.

When completing my calendar, I realized that seeing how my time is used really helped me visualize how my days will run. I know personally I can not do more than 2 hours of school work at a time. So when I was planning on how to distribute my 15 hours of school time I decided to spread it throughout the week. Doing school work everyday will help me stay involved and active in my classes.

Schools hours are 9am to 6pm on Monday through Fridays and open on Saturdays at 9am and close at 1pm. Tellers start their day by getting their cash drawers out before the branch opens in order to be ready when the time comes to open. Normal transactions are cash deposits/withdrawals, check deposits, cashier checks, paying auto or credit loans, etc. Usually there are about 3-4 tellers working at all times and a branch manager and supervisor. There are also workers who sit on the opposite side of the branch and their job is to open new accounts and fund loans. Schools has 10 full time employees and 2-part time. Full time at Schools is considered 36 hours because on Saturdays the branch is only opened for 4 hours. Schools shows great team effort,

Many educators have been thinking about making school hours longer.The school board plans to add one extra hour and a half to school. Many people have their different opinions on this idea. With school already being eight hours long the additional hour will make it nine and a half. There are plenty of reasons why this is not a good idea. I am strongly against adding additional hours to school because; some students gets grouchy, the teachers are tired, and schedules may be changed. That is a big change for a lot of people.

Clearly, school days shouldn’t be extended. It’s tough enough with 6 ½ hours of school, so why add additional hours to it? We are lead to this opinion because students are getting stressed, schools need to pay a lot of money to pay teachers and for supplies to last the extended hours, and the students don’t have enough time to do other

Starting in middle school, a student’s life becomes more stressful. The stress comes from the amount of homework they receive on on a daily basis and the many extracurricular activities students participate in. If the school board were to add an hour and a half of school to each day, the students will most likely not perform as well in school because they will be more tired. I am against adding one and a half hours to school everyday because students will be more tired, they will have less time for extracurricular activities, and they will have less time to spend with his or her family.

One reason why we shouldn’t even consider making longer school days is because it would cost the school a lot of money, “The National Education Association estimates that the average added cost would be around $1,200 per student, per year for most school districts.” This means that the average cost per classroom would be an extra $27,720. Another shocking piece of evidence states that most states won’t be able to afford the expensenses. For example, “A report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that of the 36 states that received federal School Improvement Grants and used some of that funding to extend the school day, only 10 said they would be able to do so after the grant money runs out because of the cost.” This shows that the costs for making longer school days would largely outweigh the benefits of longer

School seems to be stressful enough as It is, so why make the day longer? School Is an eight hour long process of continuous thinking and to make it better, most of us students have three or more hours of homework to do. Why would it make any sense to torture us even more? I don’t think that the school board should add one and a half hours to school.

“ I’m tired, I can’t believe I have practice right after school, I want to spend time with my family” these are the voices of children now with the schools time imagine how or what they would be saying if an extra hour and a half was added to school. So now heard that's what the school board is trying to do and I think that shouldn't be happening. I will refuse to ever let the school add more hours to the time because some people have tight schedules , already get very little sleep due to homework, and need more family time.

Adding more time to the school day can cause a lot of problems. Students require a certain amount of sleep and are worn out and exhausted at the end of the school day the extra time would just be a waste of time to the students who don’t need the extra time. Adding more time to school is expensive and the teacher’s paycheck would have to increase. Students also would not have time for extracurricular activities and not much time for family. As Sally Regenhard once said, “This is savage and barbaric. The torture seems to be never-ending.” School is degrading and stressful enough as it is, why would you add more time to everyday? We already attend school roughly, 35 hours a week. If the school board were to add on another hour and a half to each day we would be spending about 42 and a half hours every week at school. That is almost two whole days. Why should we spend that much time in an unaccepting hell hole, when we could be spending quality time with our loved ones.
