The Second Amendment, in order for the role it plays in our to society to be fully understood, must be contemplated in the same way that the Founding Fathers contemplated its creation so many years ago. The need for the Second Amendment rose from the need of the American people to feel safe and secure in the country they had built on the idea of independence, and to have the means to defend themselves, their families, and their rights against all who might try to stand in the way of their freedom – including National Security. The Founding Fathers disliked the idea of large, powerful, standing armies, who had the ability to seize power from the unarmed American people and thrust America into government tyranny at any time – the same sort of government tyranny that they had just sailed across the ocean to escape. …show more content…
The Second Amendment grants citizens the right to protect their freedoms, keeping the government in check and the people at liberty. Not only does the Second Amendment provide citizens with peace of mind that they can protect themselves against the authority, but it also allows citizens to protect themselves from fellow Americans, should the need arise. Firearms help to create a level playing field for all people, regardless of their age, size, gender, or even disability. Because we have the ability to carry arms, dangerous people no longer have the ability to pick and choose “easy” victims due to their lesser size or strength. No matter who you are, an added measure of security can make all the difference in a dangerous
The second amendment allows Americans to defend what they love, and what they work so hard to achieve. Both property and liberty can be protected with the responsible use of
The second amendment entitles the people to own or bear arms. Many people today believe that gun rights should be repealed or removed for the Bill of Rights, but I believe that this is one of our very first amendments and it is one of the most important ones, because it keeps the government from imposing tyranny or an oppressive government upon the people. The second amendment also give us the ability to protect ourselves without the government taking the right away from you. History is filled with stories of government overpowering people, and without the second amendment these problems will repeat themselves. The past couple of months this year believe that gun laws or rights are being violated, and many people are voting to repeal the second amendment because of these people hurting others with the right to own a gun.
United States is a country that has problems with gun control, and this issue has many debates between whether or not people should be allowed to carry a gun on them. This free county not only for speech and religion, but also allows people to have the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the United States was written by our Founding Fathers,“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Government). The main purpose of the Second Amendment when our Founding Fathers wrote this amendment was to help the American citizens to defend themselves from the government at that time, and other countries from invading their properties. However,
Ratified December 15, 1791, the bill of rights was added to the U.S. Constitution as a way to ensure the protection of every individual’s rights. The bill itself is a list of rights which limits the power of the federal government and gives power back to the people in the form of rights and liberties. Some of this rights include freedom of speech, religion, and press, but perhaps the one right that still to this day has many people questioning the meaning behind its wording is the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment states that “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Acosta, 2008). In short the amendment grants the right to bear arms,
Man will be tempted, government leaders will take advantage of their power for control, and darkness may fall over the land, but as long as good men are not idle, evil will not thrive. The second amendment enables the good to take action against evil. Thomas Jefferson put this best when he said, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” Our second amendment is important because it gives good men the ability to protect those self-evident truths from a corrupt and overreaching government.
The Second Amendment is making headlines these days. The Second Amendment states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This Amendment was ratified in December of 1791. This amendment was proposed by James Madison, after the constitution was ratified. “James Madison originally proposed the Second Amendment shortly after the Constitution was officially ratified as a way to provide more power to state militias…” (Brooks, The Second Amendment and the Right to Bear Arms) The latest court case on the Second Amendment is the Peruta v. California “case”. But that was turned down the case. The Second Amendment is important because it provides self defense, enables U.S. citizens to hunt for food, and it allows for citizens of states in the U.S. to form militias.
As a solution of this problem, since amendment can be changed then, the federal and state government should have a election for this law in the senate and house of representatives. Otherwise, it owing gun for safety is never going to reduce the number of death happening in every second. If people votes for banning gun totally then, it is a great solution. Only the army and the police can have the gun to protect the people and society. If people votes for second amendment then, in order to reduce the amount of death, government have to make the laws more stricker and logical laws. They should make the age requirement much longer which is going to convert 21 from 18. Otherwise, the younger generation will become killer. In my opinion, America
The Second Amendment was very important to the Constitution and was included because the government wanted the people to be able operate weapons, defend and fight when they were called upon to do so. When the Constitution was written, we had just ended a fight for independence from England. As a newly free county, without organized militia, as we have today, it was necessary that every person be able to fight.
The second amendment of United States constitution said “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. This amendment was embraced on December 15, 1791, taking in consideration that American citizens have a natural right to self-defense and they can help to accomplish the following purposes:
This timeless phrase, the Second Amendment of the United States’ Constitution, is an enduring example of the principles and ideals that our country was founded on. With this statement, the founders of this country explicitly and perpetually guaranteed the American individual the right to keep and bear arms. An incomparably crucial element of this country‘s origins, the Second Amendment and the rights it guarantees have proved vital to the growth and success of our nation.
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is the amendment of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right to keep and bear arms. The amendment clearly states that a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This means that citizens of the United States shall be able to carry firearms within reason to do so, when pertaining to safety. The Second Amendment has been disputed over the years and has become very controversial for many reasons. On one hand, it is considered to be one of the most important amendments in the Constitution because it presents the citizens of the United States with a means to protect themselves. On the other hand, some feel that over the years, certain citizens have over stepped their second amendment rights and as a result, there have been a number of national tragedies with numerous casualties.
The Second Amendment to the Constitution gave United States citizens the right to bear arms. Although, the Second Amendment stated: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. However, the framers could not foresee the type of violence we have in our cities today. Innocent citizens have and are being brutally killed due to this amendment. Stricter gun control laws must be enacted to receive these types of weapons.
Most Americans of today should cling to the second amendment for their protection because that will allow citizens to hold their firearms wherever they go for their own safety. People also believe that by adhering to the second amendment, would keep them informed about the upcoming attacks so citizens would not be in fear. Many people have been harmed by legal firearms for a long time now and I truly believe that there should be gun laws in every state for them to be banned
One of the amendments of the constitution is the right to bear arms. This allows many to protect themselves as well as defend against an abusive government. Many supporters of the second amendment believe that without the right to bear arms, the government would be free to control the
The second amendment is a very important thing in U.S. history. Without the second Amendment we would have never had such great things as Bacon 's rebellion, or the Civil war. It all actuality though the second amendment is in our constitution, because we used guns to rebel against the monarchy of England. After that we determined that the ability to own guns was a right, so that people would have the right to rebel incase America became a dictatorship. People still hold value to those laws today. In 2016 it is a different pitcher today, last year there were over 372 mass shootings. We live in a world where I, could go and buy a gun, and point it at a crowd of people and hold down the trigger until enough people are dead. We live in a world of little background checks. We live in a world where people value the second amendment over the natural right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that were taken away from everybody shot. We live in a world where 20 six year olds can get killed and people tell us to not politicize it. We live in a cycle of shooting, grief, no coverage repeat. America is behind in the need to ban assault rifles. People will continue to die unless something is solved. With enough logic, one should be able to come to the conclusion that the right to bear arms, is wrong.
