(Brogan Lee-Pawlak) School days should not be extended at all. Students already have a lot of work with a regular school day, adding more time to the day would give teachers the opportunity to give more homework. Students and teachers would not be motivated by the end of the day, therefore less work would get done because the lack of energy. If the school days are moved to longer hours than none of the students would be able to do any fun activities after school. Here is why everyone should protest against longer school days.
To start with, If school days are extended, students wouldn't have as much time
to do their homework. Teachers already pile students up with homework and projects, adding time to the school day would just allow
Some people say that extending school hour's is a bad thing for multiple reason's.I strongly disagree because their are many benefit's to extending school hour's to start at a later time. For example, if state's moved schools hour's to a later time their would be increased performance and reduced absences. There would also be a reduced number of student's falling asleep in class's and much more.
This would help kids get more sleep. They would have less to do when they got home from school. Many people do have extra activities they do, like sports. If schools have after school programs they should make the programs only on Friday’s. Then they would not have to worry about getting up early the next day. The article states, Lauren Schloss tries to get to bed on time. But her swimming practices runs to 7.30 p.m. every Wednesday. Other days when Lauren doesn’t get home until 6, after her parents pick her parents up from an after school
Imagine sitting at a desk all day listening to a teacher drone on and hand you a worksheet right after that. Well if your school day was 9 hours and 30 minutes instead of 8 hours, then that's what you would have to do. You would be there till 4:30 in the afternoon. Who wants to be there for that with only lunch as a break? Every class would be about 18 minutes longer. Which is why I don’t agree with schools extending the day because it can cause sleep deprivation, result in more kids getting in trouble, and more kids zoning out.
As the sun is barely rising Victoria is already on the school bus going to Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson Arizona. Finally, by the time third period is practically over she begins to wake up and feel ready to learn, but the school day is already halfway at an end. Seventy percent of teens aren’t getting enough sleep and this could be contributing to why they can’t focus or retain information in their first classes like Victoria (O’Neill 1). Whether or not school should start later to fix this problem has become a large debate in today’s society. Later start times are beneficial for adolescents because it will decrease rates of sleep deprivation and fit their biological rhythm, as well as bring importance to the issue, even though
Only having a four day school week would give the students an extra day for the weekend. This extra day would give the students more of a childhood. The students, teachers, and even the staff would get more time to go and explore more things in and even outside their city. Students would have more quality time with their family and could bond more. Giving them the extra day off could also help the students with sports, arts, or hobbies by giving them more time
If the school board extended the school day by one and a half hours,it would provide more instruction time.Teachers would have more time to explain there lessons out to the students. The students would have more time to ask questions and get help from the teacher.Students have a easier time understanding.Due to the school board extending the school day there
Everyone has wanted to have more time after school for homework and other things that you like to do? Well i think that school days should be shorter and mostly everyone agrees. Students would have more time for homework and other activities after school. Teachers would also have spare time to grade papers and come up with new assignments.
Students can become overwhelmed and stressed if the school day is longer. They are also really stressed. The American Psychological Association found that many children stress levels rise during the school year at least a third of students said they were overwhelmed. Should School Days Be Longer says,”But many kids already feel over-scheduled.” Longer school days would probably make them more stressed.
Did you know the school board is thinking about making school longer? However, kids already stay in school for 8 hours a day. Therefore, they do not need to stay in school for any longer. Mostly every student and teacher thinks that 8 hours is enough. The school board should not extend the school days because it may cause students to be mentally exhausted, extracurricular activities will be in the morning or people can not do them, and it may cause parents who drive their children to be late to work or students who have jobs after school.
My second reason is about after school plans. At the end of the day students have things to do or places to go but
There is no reason why schools shouldn’t extend the school day. The obvious solution to these problems is just to extend the school day and turn it into the four day week. Changing this can help the students now and the soon to be students by giving them a better learning experience and end up doing better in life in general. The extended school day has been used in some schools across the U.S. and has proven to work just as or better than the normal day. The extended school day will not only affect the lives of the students helping them to succeed it will also better our society if the next generation of workers are well educated and
The school board of the district should not make the school day longer by adding an extra hour. Kid’s will get tired, not being able to focus and stay off task. Kid’s also need time for basic necessities, like eating dinner, sleeping a full eight hours, being social, and even for some kids, working at jobs.
Time management is already a problem for every student, it becomes even harder as extra-curricular activities are added and the school day is extended. I believe that the school day should be shortened. There are many reasons why the school day should be shortened. Students have shown better performance in the past when the school day is shortened.
Also, it would be more work they have to do. Another reason I disagree is because it can be expensive. Let’s start off by saying that a longer school day
School should not be extended for various reasons. Students and teachers need time to spend with their families. There wouldn't be enough time to work as a student. Teachers and students would be exhausted and tired
