I chose “Why You Always Hatin” as my first day of school song because the song has a more crazy beat and talks about people “hating” or being jealous of others. I feel like my first day of high school was crazy so the beat to this song reminds me of it. When i say crazy i'm referring to all the chaos going on during the first day. You are walking around trying to find your classes and trying to adjust to the new environment. You have the upper classmen who are more use to the environment. Then you have the lower classmen the ones who are a bit more use to it after their first year. Upperclassmen tend to be more rude and bossy to the lower classmen because they know the freshman will fear them. However, my freshman year no one really was rude
Freshman do not run the school so get that attitude out of your mind. You will experience many situations in which upperclassman will teach you, so take notes and learn from our mistakes. Having respect for upperclassmen and teachers will pave a successful road ahead of you, so learn that right from the start. Believe me when I tell you this, you aren’t as mature as you think you are. Each year you get more wisdom, but freshman year is a time for learning so embrace it as much as you. Teach yourself to learn from your mistakes, frankly, I am still making mistakes to this day. Come into high school with a mindset of growth and you will learn your rightful
I do think there was a difference between freshman and sophomore year, the difference was that sophomore year was harder, was very difficult. I stretched my experience as a freshman to a -sophomore by becoming a less mean person. Listening to my mother & my father, this helped me understand that I should me not be rude. Now I know there are serious flaws that I needed to change,as I go through
On my first day of Seventh grade it was different from victors first day of school. First, I did not try to impress someone. Second, I listened to
I chose the famous and well known song, “I Will Survive,” because it tells me that I will survive the 7th grade and school there after! This song was sung in 1978 by Gloria Gaynor, an African American women. This catchy song was a huge hit during the disco era and has a medium to up beat tempo. “I will survive,” best represents me because I will survive homework, sports, and school work, although at this time in life it does not feel like it! My favorite part of the song is when it says that “Oh, no, not I, I will survive,” because it shows that I will never give up and keep trying new things and that I will pull through. School is like a battlefield, having your ups and your downs. This song is also about friendship, love , broken hearts,
In order to help first generation college students fight classism, we must better understand how classism impacts the lives of these students. Langhout et. al. (2007) report on their extensive
When it comes to academic freshman do not have that many freedom to choose from classes mostly because most classes require a prereq, which is what you will take your freshman year. Freshman year is arguably the easiest when it comes to the classes you take. Normally you will take your core classes; Math, Social Studies, English, and Science along with 3 elective classes. In my case I took Art 1, Spanish 1, and I had a study hall. It felt like everyone in my grade had the same exact schedule than everyone else just do to the small amount of choices you had to pick from, when it comes to the class choices.
Coming into high school can be very nerve racking. Everyone makes jokes about you being a freshman, you aren’t familiar with the building, and you don't always have people you know in your classes. Three pieces of advice I have for incoming freshmen are to keep personal things to yourself, stay out of other people's business, and don’t worry what others think of you.
My conception of freshmen dormitories differentiated as I experienced the 10 months on the American campus. I learned that not every dormitory is co-ed as mine was segregated from floor to floor, and the rules were a lot stricter than expected. The rules were a lot different then I originally perceived from movies, as lights out were at 11 and there was to be no noise in the hallways at that time. The dormitories
In many high schools, many upperclassmen enjoy to daunt the freshmen because they are new and many of them are still small.
Although I cannot relate to this struggle to maintain the status of being in a higher class, I notice that I tend to act very differently around different groups of people because I want to feel
The song that i have chosen is Horses by PnB Rock, Kodak Black, A Boogie wit da Hoodie. I like this song because it connects with me on a personal level. For instance, when it says, “Going so fast, hope i don't crash (skrr, skrr) One false move, that could be my last (yeah),” it make me think of me running, playing any sport or even work for school and how fast i do everything. The song makes me think that if one thing goes wrong it could be the last thing you will ever do. I chose it because it has a special connection with me. I admire all three performers, they all inspire me of what hard work does if you put the time in to do your work. I like all of A Boogie wit da hoodie’s songs they all are unique in their own way. Kodak Black is a fantastic performer. His songs have a special twist when he sings it. They all start off one way and
We all have different kinds of the first day of school experiences, but for every student, I feel that stepping into the first day of school as a freshman would mark as the most memorable day in all high school years. Before the first day of school, I quickly thought that my freshman year would turn into the toughest and saddest year in my experience. My best friend would not attend the same high school with me, which already gives me many conclusions of how sad and hard of a school year it would result. However, maybe things will turn out differently than we think if we just change something about our way of living it.
The underclassmen are always picked on for being new and not understanding where to go. They’re teased for doing well, bad, or average. They get poked fun at for almost everything “just because”. The underclassmen in sports sometimes are hazed and picked on by the upperclassmen. Even the name underclassman hints that they’re beneath everyone. They’re bullied into submission by everyone and told not to worry about it because they too will be on the other end of things in a couple of years. It’s an endless loop of the bullied turning into the bulliers that needs to stop but is so ingrained into high schoolers that it would be extremely hard to put to an end. Not many people say anything about what’s happening either. If they do, no one seems to care enough to listen and change something. Everyone finds it tradition, or initiation into high school. They think that it’s been happening for so long that it’s just a thing that’s
In the article of '' Outcomes of social class and classism in first- and continuing-generation college students.'' written by Blake, Allan, explained the goal of this study was to check perceptions of classism which may illustrate the relationship between social class, first-generation college student status, and academic and academic and well-being outcomes. in general, with a sample of 1,225 college students from a public university. According to, (Stephens, Fryberg, Markus, Johnson, & Covarrubias, 2012) Research investigating pedagogical disparities through first-and continuing-generation college students has shown that middle-class norms prevalent in U.S. Classism has been cited as a specific environmental barrier that FGCS face in higher
Freshmen students do not have a choice of where they get their food, usually the dining hall is their only option. Freshmen do not have the ability to prepare their own meals, due to the lack of culinary resources.
