For as long as anyone can remember, fairness and equality have always mattered. So why should we stop now? Women should be allowed to play football if that is what they desire. If someone asked you, “ If you saw a woman on a football field, what would she be doing?” Most of you would answer, “She would be a cheerleader”. That is a stereotypical answer that
Women have been trying to prove wrong. Of course, there is nothing wrong with women being cheerleaders. Some women like to cheer, but not all women.
High school football participation has always been growing at a steady rate, but now, all participation is down except one group: high school girls. Since women’s participation is higher, people should be more open-minded about women playing

But, some people do try to help these women who are serious about playing sports. In order to help these women, Title IX Regulations was made. Title IX Regulations was made so that women hopefully get equal rights in football. But, many associations make up different rules about women playing football due to “touching concerns”. But, when women do so happen to get into a league, they have a lower pay. In order to make more money, Many female players sell scratch-off tickets and hang out at bowling alleys with fans to make money. Many of these women ages range from 18 to 50 years old. For years, women have had to work harder than men at sports for obvious reasons. Most men don't think that women can play football and don't even allow them to …show more content…
they should be able to do something if they really want to do it. If you do happen to be discriminated because of your gender, or happen to see someone being treated poorly, help them in their case and don't just be a bystander. Here are somethings to think about: do you treat your opposite-gender peers fairy? Do you give everyone a chance to prove themselves before you jump to conclusions about them? And if you do, would you give them a chance to improve? Everyone has a choice: be fair and equal or ignore the fact that there are people who work hard every day to prove themselves to the
In today's society women are able to become anything they wish. Generations ago women did not have the privilege to become what they truly desired compared to the women of today. Although women can become anything they desire, they cannot succeed financially. Women are still underpaid in many areas, especially in Pro Sports. The disparity in pay for women compared men's pro sports is absurd. Female athletes have also seen greater success in sports as well and have been belittled and condemned of the rewards they rightfully deserve for the achievements in their sports. It is simple, gender should not define pay in pro sports, especially if they both have equal to or greater success in their respected sports.
Over 10 years ago and beyond, male football athletes were intolerant to female reporters and writers in the game. Some ask, “How is this going so well.” Jen replies saying, “I treat them as people as much as I do players, and I actually know what I am talking about”. Reports from the cardinals players say that she was a pleasure to have on the field. Now jen says, little girls can have the dream of becoming a coach in a sport they love.
An Additional barrier that women could face at this level could be an economic one, as the players at this level will need to be fully equipped with all of the basic equipment as well as travelling costs and coaching. This is a barrier because women do not get paid as much as men in football therefore they may have to acquire
Traditionally women were viewed as equipped to participate in sports, and their involvement was viewed as unfeminine and undesirable. This Article Examples the women were viewed as unfeminine to the sports that men play and undesirable. Young girls who are given an early opportunity to participate in sports may be more prepared for the male in classrooms. Even though women have often been relegated to second-hand citizenship in the same socializing, integration, statues, and recognition that benefit male athletes. (By; Sandra L. Hanson)
Women have struggled for more than two centuries to be taken serious as professionals. There should not be a double standard in sports especially if it is loved and played by both genders. Over the years, females have competed against the stereotype of being too fragile both mentally and physically to play strenuous sports. The passion and work ethic of the female professional athletes is just as strong as the males and everyone should be treated equal and be able to have a chance at making a better living for themselves as well as their family. One area that still faces a continual struggle in sports is gender equality. Female
“There is no reason girls shouldn’t be able to play football, just not with men. The thought of professional coed sports is ridiculous. There is a reason the biggest woman body builder doesn’t even compare in size with the men, its because their bodies are simply not made to do so and look at the olympics, maybe not events like gymnastics but as far as any sport that records times and physical output, men will always dominate. The fastest woman is not faster than the fastest man, same goes with strength. How many of you have actually played a physical sport with a man? Not high schoolers and why not because they haven’t even finished puberty. I could possibly see girls playing limited to no contact sports with men, but something like football? Simply outrageous, they would be destroyed. It doesn’t matter how tough you are, a broken leg feels the same to both sexes, and broken legs and other injuries can easily mean contract termination, hence my point is the girls will suffer a lot more
Over two decades have passed since the enactment of Title IX, a federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in federally funded education, including athletics. As a result of Title IX, women and girls have benefited from more athletic participation opportunities and more equitable facilities. Because of Title IX, more women have received athletic scholarships and thus opportunities for higher education that some may not have been able to afford otherwise. In addition, because of Title IX the salaries of coaches for women's teams have increased. Despite the obstacles women face in athletics, many women have led and are leading the way to gender equity.
Title IX was signed in 1972 and states that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” (Anderson). With the law being signed in, a 560% increase of participation at the college level and 990% increase at the high school level (“Title IX Myths and Facts”). This shows that women are interested in getting involved and playing and participating in sports but the lack of opportunity kept females from getting involved at both levels. Given the opportunity to tryout for a team or even play recreationally, women jump at the chance.
Women’s equality is an issue that has been around for awhile. While women have been given many rights to increase equality, including the right to vote and go to college, the problem hasn’t completely vanished. One area that still sees this is in sports. Women’s sports do not draw nearly as many fans and are not covered in the media as much as men’s sports, pay differences between male and female athletes are large, and female athletes have to wait longer to start their professional career than men, which risks their professional career before it even starts.
The sports world has been a new area where women are recognized. In previous times women’s sports were almost non-existent. In schools many girl teams did not receive adequate funds for uniforms and equipment. Boys sports were much more popular, such as football or basketball. If a girl wanted to play a guy sport she would be labeled as a
By turning women away from playing certain sports, we are influenced to believe that they are not as qualified to play, compared to men. (Creedon, 1994). Ironically, women on the field seem to have to act tougher than the men. If an
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” The impact of Title IX on the lives of so many girls is immeasurable. It has created opportunities for women, where opportunities did not use to exist. Unfortunately, it has not completely eradicated sexism. Women in many professional sports, which are also played by
In the last one hundred years women have made tremendous inroads in many facets of life. Of that there can be little doubt. Women may now hold jobs, own property and participate in professional sports. Today women can compete in sports, once a vestige of male domination; there is now room for women in that arena. But even today women in sports are not portrayed in the same light as their male counterparts. To a large degree this is because of today's cultural ideal of women.
People might still say that the segregation of genders in sports are making gender equality impossible, but the separation of genders in sports is not because one gender is better than the other. It is to ensure the fairness and equality. Women and men are naturally built differently and they both are both truly strong but in different ways. In order to keep sports fair, just and equal, the best thing to do is to keep sports separated by
Women have always been the minority in the world even today: that is in the work force or even in sports. Title IX, an act that was made by the United States Congress in 1972, said that no one should be denied to play, receive financial aid, or discriminate to any education program or activity that pertains to only one sex (Senne 1). This act was a step towards improving female participation and lessening discrimination, but the stereotypes that most of society believes in still exist. This is one of the main reasons why women are discriminated when it comes to sports; by limited payroll, limited media coverage, and stereotypes.
