In today's world, there are so many ways to communicate! I would like you to evaluate the communication within your company. Are meetings run effectively? Does your manager do a good job of communicating ideas, performance, expectations? What could be improved upon?

You could offer an excellent product or service, but if you’re unable to promote your services and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers the potential for growth is limited. Communication is the conveyance and flow of ideas from one person to another. The exchange of information takes place through letters, words, symbols and nonverbal behaviors. It involves the transmission of ideas from the sender to the receiver. Communication is effective only if the receiver fully understands the transmitted information. Many problems and failures occur in organizations due to poor communication. Objective and goals fail due to misunderstandings in the organization. Effective communication provides a chain of understanding to all participants in the organizational framework. It promotes the flow of information both vertically and horizontally.

This worker received messages from Jeremy Wallace at 8:22pm about Lamyia telling him that the children were going to be taken from his house because he hadn't gone to meetings. Jeremy was only told about one meeting he told this worker. Jeremy asked the worker to please respond he was trying to see what was going on. Jeremy stated that he could explain everything. He didn't want this to happen. It was just a miss communication. He would do whatever he had to do.

For the greatest success of the business, employees need interpersonal communication to connect with their co-workers. A leadership expert, John C. Physically being in the same room, verbally speaking thoughts, engaging in eye contact, and being able to see nonverbal responses are all important and add to a person’s understanding of the message being communicated and feeling a connection. Overall, communicating face-to-face is more natural for employees. An employee knows who is hearing what they are saying and seeing their nonverbal gestures. The employee can either get immediate feedback whether or not the person understands or agrees or disagrees. The communication does not have to be formatted as it does on paper. An employee should still present themselves professionally, but communicating face-to-face is a process, instead of format.

Over the course of this class, I came across very strategic and informal forms of communication that benefit the working environment for the good for everyone around. There are many different ways of communicating with your coworkers as we all know, but the communication process at work can be difficult and very nerve racking to some. Being in the management position as well as a team member, I know firsthand experiences that without proper and respectful communication, we may all would have been without jobs. One thing I learned is when communicating in teams you have to use different methods with various individuals when trying to get work done in an orderly time frame. It’s a give and take thing when communicating at work. Sometimes in that structure, members tend to slack off and deviate from the goal that is at hand.

In common, communication is a process of connecting people or places.
