Private funding generally has more flexibility. Some private funding (about half of what we raise each year) has no restrictions – we can determine where to spend it, and develop innovative programs that get results. We can design a program and look for funding partners to support it. Private funding can also be used to supplement government funds, when we want to do more than the contract supports. Phipps Neighborhoods is a lead partner in a South Bronx Rising Together, cradle-through-college and career pipeline initiative in the Crotona Park and Morrisania neighborhoods of the South Bronx. The South Bronx is a vibrant community of infinite opportunity where people aspire to live, works and raise families. The agency will create a South Bronx community that is college- and career-ready by leveraging the expertise of a network of community members and service providers to support the lifelong success of our children and youth. The responsibilities of the administrative and support staff is to provide and/or connect our clients to services that assists them in their journey to self-sufficiency. Understand Phipps Neighborhoods’ vision and mission. Develop programming that is inspiring and bold. Represent Phipps Neighborhoods to the community at all times and reinforce a consistent message and image about Phipps
My proposal will benefit only families of the local communities mentioned previously. These communities have been afflicted with a new interest for gentrification of more affluent residents. We need to protect the low income families from displacement of their neighborhoods. Data that must be collected to initiate the proposal is the family’s income, financial issues, and household size. We are also going to gather data regarding housing prices, rentals and the impact of gentrification within the
The Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 enacted a voucher program, the Section 8 Housing Allowance program that has since been renamed the Housing Choice Voucher program (HCV). In the original program vouchers were sent directly to qualifying landlords, however, in 1988, the terms were changed so that the tenants now receive the vouchers. Tenants were given more leeway in where and how the vouchers could be used (Teater, 2008).
These services support a person in successfully sustaining tenancy and include activies such as identifying and intervening in behaviors that may jeopardize housing, assistance in resolving disputes with landlords to reduce the risk of eviction and assisting with the housing recertification process.1 The last category of reimbursed housing related services is state level housing related collaborative activities. Reimbursed services in this category are those that assist a state in identifying and securing housing options for the identified eligible populations.1

The Veterans Community Project was started by three veterans. In addition to housing, the Veterans Community Project will also provide people with counseling. Additionally, the houses will already have food, electricity and gas. They want to make sure that veterans do not have to go through the hassle of making deposits and waiting to get utilities turned on. The veterans will continue to get support until they can move into
240.) The HUD-VA is one of the main programs that have expanded over the years that have supportive housing to end homeless population among the veterans (Tsai, Rosenheck, & Kane, 2014). This program subsidized the rent and gives vouches for the veterans with the help of a case management staff member from the VA. Also, this programs helps with clinical outcomes with substance abuse. When they are accepted in this program they receive a caseworker to help them to set up goals to figure out certain programs to come up with a treatment plan or a plan of action to get them back on their own again (Tsai, Rosenheck, & Kane, 2014). The Grant and Per Diem program uses communities by funding them by offering transitional housing for two years. Over the two years the veteran will no longer be homeless but also will learn how to attain stability in their jobs, have a steady income, advance skills, receive treatments for mental and addictive disorders, and to be have to integrate from being in the service to civilian life (Tsai, 2013). The third program that helps homeless veterans is The Healthcare for Re-Entry it helps incarcerated
S263). This test is “11 questions in the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Module” and was issued on a scale of one to eight (Montgomery et al. S263). Another test conducted by a different team was used on a scale of either affective or psychotic and it was called the IES-R (Helfrich et al. 119). Both testing groups decided that housing and constant therapeutic sessions were key into reintroducing people to society. The most difficult problem with their conclusions is the aspect of housing. Housing First is one of the many healthcare and housing organizations to yield multiple aids for the homeless and mentally ill (Somers et al. 1). These aids consist of sustainable market housing without the requirement of a lease (Somers et al. 1). “Our findings confirm that HF programs- particularly the ones using scattered site format- promote reductions in offending and reconviction among people who were previously homeless and have a current mental illness ” (Somers et al. 6). By using a “scattered site format,” the organization chose a random sample that pulled many subjects from the streets and put them through the HF program. This was one of the first real solutions shown in reintroducing the once homeless into society. Haven for Hope homeless shelter is centered on returning the homeless and mentally ill to community. They have plans on renovating one of the male housings into a psychiatric facility with rooms for the residents
There are many reasons for federal grants existence, such as grants that promote efficiency by utilizing state and local government localized knowledge that can implement grant programs more efficiently than the federal government because it can more easily adjust resource allocation or infrastructure, to name a few (Federal grants to state and local governments, 2013). Some grants encourage state and local governments to adopt federal policy priorities or foster policy experimentation at the state and local levels that would be difficult to achieve in a single national program (Federal grants to state and local governments, 2013). Grantees seek federal grant opportunities to help offset budgetary shortfalls or use as a catalyst to help promote
I have a passion for helping children and an interest in pursuing school social work, I decided to interview my mother’s co-worker, Belle Walker. Belle is an exceptional children’s (EC) social worker for Union County Public Schools and works directly with students and families who need assistance finding resources in order for them to succeed in the classroom. Belle is a very passionate person and loves her work. During her undergraduate, she held an internship at a transitional homeless shelter working with families. As she attended graduate school in Illinois, Belle worked night shifts in a domestic violence shelter as a counselor. After graduate school, she decided to move back to Charlotte and found a job working with A Child’s Place
Pathways to Housing PA serves the homeless population within the Philadelphia city boundary. The organization uses what is called the “scatter site” model, placing participants in homes in several communities throughout the city. This model encourages a sense of community and agency for the participant (Cite website).

In the policy of the EO13636, the Department of Homeland Security and The Department of Defense are putting money in their budgets to help the private sector fund,
In the United States, governments at the state and local levels are relying heavily on intergovernmental aid. Intergovernmental aid is fiscal aid that originates from another governmental unit in the form of revenue and grants. It can be reimbursements for general governmental functions or for specific services or projects. This means that aid in the US is flowing from the federal government to either state or local governments and from state governments to local governments. Aid from federal and state governments can come in several different forms such as direct aid that is awarded annually or through applied grants. Typically, states will apply for federal grants and then will distribute the funds to local governments. At the same time, local governments have the ability to apply for federal and state grants.
The U.S. Government gives universities grants to cover research costs as well as overhead costs that relate to the research that universities takes part in. The government does this with hopes that colleges will discover new things that will help our society and the world we live in. Stanford University was one of many colleges that received this type of grant from the government. However, Stanford was not using all the monies for research done within the university. The university was billing the government for overhead costs that were unrelated to research as well as many of personal benefits such as, $3,000 cedar lined closet, $7,000 bed sheets and table linens, $184,000 for depreciation of a yacht,
I feel like the range of my evidence could have been better.Instead of just using websites, databases and books, I felt that I could have expanded my range of sources to documentaries and pictures as well. The reason I did not do this was because of my poor time management. Next time I am going to plan my time more wisely and research about the even a little bit beforehand so I know how big of an event it is and the controversies that surround it. Another thing I could improve on is my annotations of my evidence. The annotations I wrote were too brief and vague; it lacked in-depth understanding as well (e.g.”This is useful because it shows the consequences of the Tiananmen Square Protests in the western world.
