Nationalism is patriotic feeling, principles, efforts or having pride in your country. nationalism was another big part in world war I. ("DBQ: What Were the Underlying ...", 2010, p. Doc 1) If it was not for the pride in one’s countries, there would be total chaotic war. There was total war because of imperialism also. Because of this soldiers were ready to run towards the front lines and risk his life for his country.

Nationalism is loyalty and devotion to one’s country usually accompanied with feelings of superiority over other countries. Nationalism is a force of nature. It helped to unify Italy and Germany while also being a threat to other nations by trying to tear empires apart. Nationalism has pros and cons because even though it unified some countries it also led to wars and tensions among other countries. More tensions arose when leaders tried to unify countries by manipulation to get their way.

Nationalism is an emotional loyalty towards one’s nation, sometimes including belief in the superiority of that nation, regardless of whether it is also an independent country. Nationalism was very prevalent during Big Era 8 and most of the 20th century. It gave citizens an excessive amount of confidence in their nation, government, and military strength. Nationalism was a significant factor to World War I, the Interwar Years, and World War II. It was largely predominant in Serbia during WWI, China during the Interwar Years, and Germany during WWII. World War I, also known as the first World War, or the Great War, was a global war originating in Europe the began on the 28th of July 1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. World War I was a war that was fought between two sides with a few of the World’s greatest Nations of that time. The two sides were Triple Entente which included Britain, France, and Russia, and the Triple Alliance which was consisted of the countries Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. World War I left a mark on history as we know it, what could have possibly led to that war?, What were the underlying causes of World War I?. The major causes of “The Great War” or WWI consist of four long-term causes and one short-term cause. The common acronym that’s used for the four long-term causes to help students remember the causes of WWI is M.A.I.N; the acronym stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism,and the short-term cause The Assassination of the ArchDuke Franz Ferdinand at Sarajevo on the 28th of June 1914. To put all of this in a simpler way the five major causes of WWI was Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism, and the assassination of the ArchDuke Franz Ferdinand. Each of topics played a significant role in the reasons why WWI would begin.

Nationalism was coined back in the 1770’s it has a major role in the shaping many nations throughout the world. Nationalism has many positive and negative aspects to it. Nationalism has the strength to unify people despite their classes. It also has the ability to united people to lead movements against oppressive governments. There is a downside Nationalism can as method to evoke fear. The biggest negative is that most nationalism movement’s inevitably led to some form of conflict. Nationalism is a dangerous movement that can lead to oppression of opposition groups and lead to conflicts.

During World War 1 many nations and countries were trying to build an empire and have the strongest military. This is known as Imperialism which is a policy of extending a country’s power and impact through military and colonization of other nations. Nationalism is often driven from imperialism. Nationalism is having pride in one’s country, and because many big nations had nationalism it encouraged the nation to have an empire. Because of Germany and Britain were growing larger they thought they had the best military and were the superior to other nations. They both believed they were indomitable. All of the nations

Nationalism is a shared feeling of being part of one nation, which is strengthened by history, symbols. Europe was an example of trying to create a nationalistic society, but in the late 19th and early 20th century, it sparked an all-out war which many know as World War 1.

What was the ultimate cause of World War I? Without a doubt it was imperialism. Nations simply needed more land and more resources to stay wealthy. They wanted to control and have power over areas outside its borders. To get the resources they did anything to accomplish that and they even went to war. The nations that did get conquered were probably not happy with another nation ruling over them, so that made them fight for their country back.

World War 1 started because of the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian nationalist in 1914. Which Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia. Many death have broke out on the battlefield, most of it were caused by a flu that broke out. WWI didn’t cause the flu but close troop quarters and massive troop movements hastened the pandemic transmission across Europe and around the world. Another thing that started during ww1 was Schenk v United States who got arrested for speaking his mind against the draft.

As stated on a “History on the Net” website, nationalism is the devotion and loyalty to one’s own nation. Nationalism lead to the desire of countries to gain more wealth and resources. It is said that the growth and outpouring of nationalism is the overall cause of the first World War. It is also believed that nationalism is what impacted the other causes of World War 1. However, the reason there was a World War, was not only because of the crazed desire for power, but also the growing alliances and the great love for war.

Albert Einstein once said,” Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.” Nationalism has played a significant role throughout history. Nationalism can be defined as having a sense of belonging and loyalty to one 's state or country. With growing middle classes and their desire to expand political power modern nationalism arose to create equal liberty and equality for all. (Mescevic) In the twentieth century new forms of nationalism emerged. In the United States, the basis of nationalism was not ethnicity, but a shared belief of democracy, principles, rule of law and individual rights. The Soviet Union, an important superpower of the twentieth century, saw a rise of nationalism while trying to expand the idea of communism worldwide. In Nazi Germany, Nazism represented an extreme form of nationalism. Italian nationalism became apparent in World War I and the era of Italian fascism. Growing nationalism in China was used to modernize imperialist encroachment. Imperial Japan saw a spark of nationalism during their westernization period. Arab Nationalism became the basis for alienation and loss of national identity for many indigenous Jews and other minorities of Arab countries. As you can see, nationalism impacted every area of the world. The essence of nationalism is a unifying, all-persuasive act to unify a country and its people as one.

Nationalism was growing force in the world because people were becoming more connected and wanted others to identify with. Nationalism seemed good as it would give people a group to fit into but it also led to bad things like racsim. The goal of nationalism was to unify a country or group of people to increase strength and make them more robust.I believed that nationalsim was a positive it unified countries, marked steps towards democracy, and led to many liberal reforms.

Nationalism is a feeling that “people have of being loyal to and proud of their country often with the belief that it is better and more important than other countries” (Simple). Nationalism along with militarism and imperialism caused the internal conflicts in Europe. But Nationalism was the primary cause of the internal conflicts in Europe that became World War I.

The Nationalist movement began during French Revolution when country men rallied together to go to war against Communism. Nationalism was invented in Europe by intellectuals who were inspired by Napoleons conquest. This ideology to changed people’s perspective about what their country meant to them. Unified States such as Italy, Germany were created during a great migration that formed unified states. Instead of the smaller societies people once lived in became a nation of individuals in certain countries that they could call their own. Nationalism has also helped in the improvement of incomes and education by helping those citizens to come together for a common good. The negative impacts of nationalism is the imposing of views on other
