World War II as a Good War
The vast majority of Americans supported World War II (WWII) after Pearl Harbor was bombed, recognizing a fascist threat to Western democracy. WWII was a good war. It had the ability to unite America. They united against Nazism and fascism. But even a good War has its bad times. If you look behind what you think happened at what really happened in WWII it becomes clear that the U.S. has nothing to be proud about. WWII evolved the entire globe, putting the world's largest economic and military powers against each other: the AXIS powers Germany, Japan and Italy against the ALLIED powers Russia, Britain and the U.S. There were some 27,372,900 civilians and 20,858,800 military personnel killed in the

In August 1942, a prominent German industrialist contacted the president of the World Jewish Congress in Geneva Dr. Gerhart Reigner, and warned of Hitler's plans for the "final solution." Reigner then cabled the plans to the U.S. where the State Department disregarded the cable; and even as more information came in, the U.S. delayed any response. To save Jews or stop the Holocaust. http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/israel/untermeyer.htm One of the most well known attacks on the Jews was known as Night of Broken Glass. On the November 9, 1938, violence against Jews broke out across Germany. The Germanys tried to make it appeared like the violence was an unplanned attack, set off by the assassination of a German official in Paris at the hands of a Jewish teenager. In two days, over 1,000 synagogues were burned, 7,000 Jewish businesses were trashed and looted, dozens of Jewish people were killed, and Jewish cemeteries, hospitals, schools, and homes were looted while police and fire brigades stood by. http://www.ushmm.org/outreach/kristall.htm President Roosevelt, and Secretary of State Cordell Hull blocked several attempt to let Jewish refugees, to inter the U.S. They appointed Breckinridge Long, as the U.S. State Department official in charge of matters concerning European refugees. Breckinridge Long was an extremely nerves person with a particular suspicion of Eastern Europeans. He suspected Jewish immigrants of being either communists or German
World War 2 was known as the good war. The fight for democracy was a big deal to president Franklin and it was a very well fought war. America throughout the war learns to overcome things and start to become more accepting. The war helps unite both blacks and whites to a fight for the same goal. We get our revenge of the bombing at Pearl Harbor, we work with a very brutal dictator, and we tried to stay neutral for as long as we could. For example in doc 1 the president is advised to stay out of the war that it wasn’t worth it. The president ignores and goes on because he sees how the bombing of Pearl Harbor affects Americans. He explains how this is a fight for democracy and America will always have something to do with this. In doc 2 the president says he will be on your side as long as you have the same goal, to fight for democracy. This fight focuses on the fight for democracy while putting other things such as race aside.
World War two is remembered as the Good War, but like most wars, mobilization of the patriotic public opinion is necessary . Advertisers came up with a series of mottos to help sell World War Two to the people: One of the major words being “freedom” . The war was supposed to protect Americans freedom, use honorable means, and bring freedom to foreign nations but that’s not exactly what it did. When people think of WW2 as the Good War, many memories of the war are being left out. World War Two was not a Good War in the least bit.
One of the most significant events that took place during the Holocaust was Kristallnacht; known as The Night of the Broken Glass for the shattered pieces of glass that littered the streets. On the night of November 9th, 1938, Nazi troops were ordered to disguise as ordinary civilians in order to give the impression that the perpetrators were angry members of the public. They outflanked Jewish neighborhoods, destroying homes, synagogues, shops, and businesses, encouraging ordinary Germans to participate in the breaking of glass by throwing Jewish possessions out of windows into streets. Many historians believe that night triggered the introduction of the Holocaust, as 91 Jews were killed in the attack and 30,000 arrested and incarcerated

Within four days of the attack, the United States entered war on the Allied side against Japan, Germany, and Italy. Over the next four years, the Allies fought for unconditional surrender and peace in order to preserve their countries, stabilize Europe, destroy Nazism, and establish democracy. Whereas the Axis Powers, Germany and its six allies, fought for worldwide domination and extermination of various ethnic, religious, national, and secular groups. World War II took the lives of 400,000 American lives and
Kristallnacht took place from the 9-10 November, 1938. Violence against Jewish people broke out across the Reich. This event had shown the increasingly violent nature of discrimination against Jewish people in Germany. Another name for Kristallnacht as known as “The Night of Broken Glass”-referring to the shattered glass from the store windows that littered the streets of Jewish occupied areas after the event of Kristallnacht. Although this incident had lasted only two days, more than 250 synagogues were burnt by the fire, more than 7000 Jewish businesses were destroyed and looted, hundreds of Jewish people were been affected by this event and around 100 Jewish people had been killed.
Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass, was a night of organized violent assault on the Jews on November 9, 1938. Although it appeared to be a spontaneous response to a Jewish teenager’s assassination of a German ambassador in Paris, this event was, in fact, a thoroughly organized attack on the Jews. As the name of the incident suggests, two-day long violent outbreak was detrimental. Not only were Sturmabteilung set loose to ransacking Jewish stores and homes, civilians also participated in the series of attacks against the Jews. Over 250 synagogues were targeted; they were destructed, burned, and vandalized. Moreover, over 7,000 businesses were shattered. Plundered Jewish-owned properties were often redistributed to German citizens. During this massive coordinated attack, approximately 100 Jews were killed, and approximately 30,000 Jews were sent to concentration camps, such as Dachau, Buchenwald, and Sachsenhausen. Although brutally treated, the prisoners were released if they could prove that they were able to emigrate. However, an estimate of 1,000 Jews ended up dying. After Kristallnacht, Jews clearly became social outcasts; they were aggressively dissimilated from the society, marginalized from economic interactions, and persecuted from political activities. Anti-Semitism rose

The growing tension between russia and america pushed president truman to order the construction of the hydrogen bomb, or H-bomb. This was a thermonuclear weapon, that is more destructive than, than the bombs that hit japan in WW2. it is more destructive and with no fall out it was more like able than another nuclear bomb and lead to the idea of neutron bomb.
Kristallnacht happened on the evening and early morning of November ninth and tenth of 1938. It is also known as the “Night of Broken Glass”. The name Kristallnacht comes from the sight of glass on the streets from the windows of synagogues, Jewish-owned businesses and homes being broken. This is because of the anti Jewish pogroms. Pogrom is a Russian word meaning to wreak havoc or to demolish violently. German officials said that Kristallnacht was a spontaneous outburst of violence in regard to the assassination of Ernst von Rath. Two days before Kristallnacht occurred, a 17 year old Polish Jew named Herschel Grynszpan shot Ernst vom Rath.

The Nazi Regime burned down the Synagogues, destructed schools and businesses. Also Kristallnacht implemented the Nuremberg laws and the beginning of concentration camps. Kristallnacht was a significant event that led to a domino effect on Jewish path in history. World War II was one of the most demoralizing armed conflicts in history, and directly involved millions of combatants from more than 60 countries. The war had a devastating effect that caused the death of numerous amounts of people. Many civilians died as a result of collateral damage, famine, and malicious attempts of mass murder.
My fellow citizens of this united nation or whom I wish to be my equals. Our nation is together no longer because of this war. There´s even more discrimination than before, not just to African Americans, but us, Germans. Germans who came to America to escape war and thousands of the other Germans who were already here, who have already been part of this country, who have already proven their loyalty. I, myself had came here an exceptional expense of years before. I had proven my loyalty, I had been apart of this society for years now, but now I´ve worked all these years, all Germans have, to be integrated into society for nothing. I find it disgusting and downright nonsensical to be called the ¨alien enemy¨ when no citizens have proof that
