“Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.” - Alexander Hamilton
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am here today to encourage my peers and to also challenge my peers. The message I have focused on today is critical for the future is standing up for what is right. The future of humanity depends on our ability to speak and stand up for what we believe in and our values. We must use the youth to help this work and make this society a much more supportive and understanding society to live in. Today, I will discuss three texts that deal with the issue “Standing up for what is right”. These texts are: “WorldShaker” written by Richard Harland, Bob Marley’s song “Get Up, Stand Up” and the song “Caught in the Crowd” written by Kate

This is similar to the book because the filthies are fighting for acceptance and respect. This is important to the youth because teenagers are going to need the ability to fight for respect.
The song “Caught in the Crowd” is about a girl that had befriend a boy. She had witnessed the boy being bullied physical and verbally but she had decided to walk away when he needed her the most. The issue is represented positively because by telling us that we should stand up for what is
This novel was set during the post war period, this was a time when independence and rebelling against parents and law was more important than doing the right thing, during these times of independence, and teenagers needed friendship more than anything else.
One way that Kelleher creates the impression that teenagers can cope with danger in life-threatening events are through the employment of child and adult protagonists. Teenagers are engrossed to the novel through this suspenseful plot, which places Ben in
Individuals can make a difference and enact change within society. Even though people may have beliefs and opinions that differ, it is still possible to make changes that help to put all citizens on a more equal footing. In chapter one, Virginia Ramirez teaches us that we are never too old to find our inner strength to stand up for what is right. This is exactly what she did for her elderly neighbor who died because she could not get the help she so desperately needed. Virginia spoke up and advocated even though it angered her husband at first. Her story like many others found throughout this book inspire me to want
The book is also broken down into sections that explain the different situations that can cause a child to act out or what is influencing them. Section one is more about the teenagers making their own decisions but leads them to unhealthy life styles. Their decisions can sometimes lead into more serious outcomes like STDs, pregnancy, illnesses, etc. These outcome also depend on the risk taking these teenagers engage in. In section one, the characters
When you stand up for what you believe in, you build confidence and gain courage. It is important to have confidence because it shows you are strong enough to have your own independent thoughts and express them. If you don’t no one will. In the American Revolution the Patriots fought for what they thought was right. They wanted something Britain would not give them, so they fought back. The Patriots did not wait for the French or the Spanish to fight for them, instead they told Britain
Seen repeatedly throughout history, it is evident that the fight for political freedom is often suppressed when individuals repress their thoughts and refuse to speak out against oppressors. A common occurrence throughout major events in history, it has become obvious that doing the right thing in society can only be done successfully when individuals act upon their moral impulses. However, the initiation of acting upon such inclinations is often overlooked and repressed due to the pasts of individuals. Psychologically affecting how individuals act and respond to societal issues, the repression of thoughts and ideas against acting out and taking a stand in society because of such pasts has become indisputably obvious over time. Unmistakably
In our lives, fighting for ourselves and what we believe in comes naturally. I can’t count on two hands the number of emails I’ve sent regarding my grades, or the number of conferences I’ve had with school faculty trying to bring more engineering classes to my school. It’s easy to stand up for ourselves. Standing up for others, especially those who have done wrong by us, is another story.
Another theme of the book is the importance of moral education. Especially due to the fact that much of the book is based around children exploring the bounds
The world is constantly changing with the technological advances and societal issues, in which conflicts arise and unfurl . Many people stand for their ideas and beliefs; but, many people tend to forget the meaning and importance of standing up for what one believes in.
Bob Marley once sang, “Get up, stand up, Stand up for your rights. Get up, stand up, Don't give up the fight.” Standing up and speaking out for what you believe has taken part in the solution to many cultural, political, and economic issues over the years. Although many problems have been resolved this way and ideas have been spread, people today believe that keeping their opinions silent avoids conflict, so they continue to live their lives wanting a social change in the community. It is important to speak out and be heard because it is the only way a community and society can change.
This book targets a demographic audience of people around my age and in highschool because it is so relatable and entertaining. it is really relatable because it surrounds a boy (Jeremy Heere) in highschool trying to get higher in the food chain of coolness and popularity any way he can. Many people have experienced the same struggle and effort that the Jeremy has to go through which is what made me admire Jeremy in the fact that he wasn’t a bad guy. What I mean by bad guy is that when I picked up this book and read the back and saw how he’s gonna take a pill to be cool I expected it to end tragically with him losing all his friends and not being able to control himself with his new lifestyle. But to my surprise the book had such a captivating and different story that no one would
“Fight for what you believe in.” It is important to stand up for yourself and other people because everyone in this world has a voice.
“Exception” is a song/story about a boy named Andy who is constantly being bullied at school. People see this happening and know its wrong but refuse to say anything so Andy is left with no choice but to put an end to his problem himself. The purpose of this song was to tell a story and deliver a message about bullying and why it should be stopped before it's too late. Bullying can tear a person apart mentally and physically and drive them to do crazy things much like portrayed in the song. This song was created to bring awareness to the problem of bullying and make anyone who has witnessed bullying or is still witnessing bullying take place speak up. The audience the author is trying to connect to is students

“Sometimes standing up for what is right and who we are means that we are going to face standing alone.” Standing up for what you believe in is very important in our lives. If we didn’t have the people who stand up for us we would be a very different country. All of us need to stand up for what is right, we might not to be the president or a famous person to say a speech about what it right. There have been many times when I have stood up for something I believe in. I often stand up for my sister, my family, and my friends.
