April of 1912, R.M.S Titanic was set to sail her maiden voyage from Southampton, United Kingdom to New York City. Titanic was claimed to be unsinkable by the ships designer Thomas Andrews; Unfortunately, that would be deemed untrue on the morning of April 15th, 1912. Setting sail with just over twenty-two hundred passengers and crew on board, Titanic was heading toward America however it would never arrive. Tragically only 710 people would live to talk about the tragedy of the night that Titanic sank. Over one hundred years after she sank, a new team of experts made the voyage out the wreck site of the R.M.S Titanic. This team of experts however was not looking for the most common pieces of the wreck, the bow and stern. Those pieces have been found from numerous expeditions to the wreck site since the very first expedition in 1985. This team set out with the most modern technology to make a complete map of the wreck site. Teams in 1985 went out on the first French/United States joint expedition to the Titanic and only found her bow and stern. Using the most innovative technology available combined with some of the top experts in their respected fields, Dr. David Gallo and his team set out to map out the whole wreck site of the RMS Titanic. Taking a closer considering the 2012 expedition this team of experts uses the most innovative technology available to them, the documentary gives an insight into everything that the research team did during each dive, and this team will
(Attention material) Morgan Robertson wrote a book called The Wreck of the Titan. It was about a so called “unsinkable” ship named the Titan that set sail from England to New York. There were many rich and famous passengers on board. On its journey, the Titan hit an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sunk. Because of the lack of lifeboats, many people died. If this sounds familiar, get this. The Wreck of the Titan was written 14 years before the Titanic sank.
Have you ever wondered about shipwrecks? Probably at some point in your life you have. What about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald? It was the worst and fastest shipwreck in Great Lakes history. The sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald has a significant story and a significant history behind it, and it’s unfortunate the ship and her crew members aren’t here today.
Relevance Statement: (Many of you have probably heard of the Titanic or even seen the movie but there is so many more details and facts that people are unaware of.)
Today we searched the shipwreck, that we found and found many cool things. The ship had 6 cannon ports and we believe that the ship had two masts. Also we found this ship 4,363 feet below sea. In the ship we found musket parts, ceramic cups and dishes, clothing, and a toothbrush. These items were from all over the world. The items were from Britain, China, Mexico, and and Canada. After we found these items I was extremely ecstatic, because I did not think we would find things like that. Also the items gave us clues to what kind of ship this was. We believe that the ship was a government paid ship, that went around the world and made sure the sea was safe. Lastly, there were two other ships found nearby and by our findings in the first
In 1884 the J. S. Seaverns freighter sank and after 132 years it was found. The freighter sank in Canada near Michipicoten Harbor, Ontario. This summer a five-man team located it. It was discovered along with piles of unbroken dishes which is strange how nothing was broken after 132 years of being underwater after sunken. There were also other various amounts of other century-old items. The Dutch Tribune News reported the found items last week. Dan Fountain was the guy that helped find those items last week reported them as being “in beautiful shape.” It is hard to believe that the sunken ship was found along with many items inside it and it being untouched and undisturbed. The upper cabins of the sunken ship however were somewhat broken up
It’s a discovery that challenges the history of one of polar exploration’s biggest mysteries. The long lost ship of British explorer Sir John Franklin, HMS Terror has been found at the bottom of the Arctic Bay.The researchers think they know exactly what happened to the HMS Terror because of the Vessel being found, Images taken and matched HMS building plan , and a note from the crew
Our intention was to find a shipwreck deep in the Gulf of Mexico yet we found two sunken vessels. We think that the ships went down around the same time. This is the first time we ever go as deep as 4,363 feet down which makes this the first deepest investigation of american shipwrecks. From what we looked in we come to the understanding that we don't really know anythings about any of the three ships. We still have a lot of question about the ships which makes me disappointed because we really want to know what we are looking into. We have got the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to used the remote-control to be able to take a look at we we found which makes me so excited. From what we have seen from the remote control it seems
The Titanic may be one of the most famous and well known shipwrecks of our time. Just about everyone learns of the tragedy in school and how it was a complete accident. Information has been found that point to the tragedy not being what we think it is. There is evidence that shows that the ship thought to be the Titanic may actually be named the Olympic, and may have been used in an insurance scam. This evidence includes pictures showing different amounts of port holes and even people working on the ship coming forward. It has yet to be proven if this is 100% true, but most would agree that all of this points to it being true.
The two Media sources I chose were History Channel and national Geographic. They are alike because They both give kinda a same description on the Titanic. Also the history Channel and National geographic are alike because they both have pictures of stuff left on the boat. They are different because
In 2010, a research vessel named the Connecticut, was used to investigate shipwrecks. The information gathered from these archaeological sites were used to list each four sites on the National Register of Historic Places. stellwagen.noaa.gov The well known ship, Titanic, was surveyed using ROVs at the wreckage. They were able to conduct scientific analysis of the ship's deterioration and take the first underwater photographs of the ship.ocean.si.edu/ocean-videos. If ROVs were not available, than Dr.Ballard wouldn't have been able to locate a boiler in the Titanic on September 1, 1985. The Programmed Underwater Vehicle was a torpedo developed by Luppis-Whitehead Automobile in Austria in 1864. However, the first tethered ROV named POODLE, was developed by Dimitri Rebikoff in 1953. ROVs are able to find these items and analyze the underwater
I have read and studied my collection of books about the Titanic many times, and have done research on the Internet.
Some things that researchers will put in their journals would be the measurements of the shipwrecks suck as the "copper-clad wooden hull' or also even the vessels. they have discovered that each ship could carry "50 to 60 men". These ships also to be as old as the 19th century. Researchers also found that the "Shell Oil Company' has notified about detecting a shipwreck. We were afraid that the shipwreck could have been a pile of junk but after verifying that it included telescopes and navigational tools it helped a lot. The first ship which is called "Monterrey" had a copper-clad wooden hull and the estimates of it seems to be quite big. In their journals researchers can also add that nobody in the ship would have become a survivor because
More than three million shipwrecks would accepted will lie on the seabed, the bring about shortages about storms and mishaps Throughout many a considerable length of time of sea-borne exchanging. These wrecks offer marine archaeologists profitable majority of the data around the culture, innovation organization Also trade designs from claiming old civilisations, yet the lion's share have been excessively profound with Examine. Scuba jumpers could best work down with 50 metres, which breaking points operations on wrecks close to the coast, which have regularly been harmed Eventually Tom's perusing storms or plant development. A couple profound ocean destinations (such as those Titanic) bring been investigated Eventually Tom's perusing manned
One of the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century, was the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Although many ships have succumbed to the icebergs in the ocean, none have accounted for a greater loss of life than the Titanic (Hill, 2000). All the hype surrounding the Titanic in 1912, made people believe this ship was going to be an unstoppable luxury cruise; even third class passengers would be able to enjoy simple things that weren’t offered on other ocean liners at the time, like cooked meals and their own private cabins. The Titanic was dubbed the Ship of Dreams; however, it would turn into a nightmare for the passengers and their families in less than a week. The maiden voyage from South Hampton, England to New York City, New York would be a journey no one could forget. The sinking of the Titanic would capture the imagination of Hollywood directors, and became the passion of sea explorers who would search for the great vessel.
When: Started building on March 31, 1909. The Titanic set sail on April 10, 1912. It sank on April 15, at 2:20 A.M.
