After Montag says hello, it should mention that all nights the firemen let loose rats sometimes cats or chickens. The men would bet on which they thought the Hound would catch first. Good morning. The literary year in pictures assignment has been an educating and wonderful experience so far. The literary year in pictures on White Fang, by Jack London, was the first one of these assignments that we did. I had the role of plotting and handwriting. Out of all the roles, I did not want to do plotting, but I ended up with it. Once I started, I actually did not mind having that job and it was not as challenging as I thought. My group helped me a little with this role, which made it easier for me. However, there were some challenges with what to write …show more content…
I think that the group I had for this project worked pretty well. There was no dominant leader in the group, and I don’t think the work in our group was balanced equally. I feel that some people in our group did more work than others. Also, I was the only girl in this group, so it was good to have another girl in the next literary year in pictures assignment. From working on this assignment, I learnt many things. One thing that I learned is when we do these assignments, you really need to balance out the time you spend on each panel. My group spent way too much time on the first panel, causing us to have to rush on the last panels. We were limited on time to finish, so it would have worked out better if we spent the same amount of time on each panel. Also, involving working together, I learnt when we are doing this assignment we cant spend much time making sure everyone is doing their job perfectly. We should let people do their role by themselves and not focus on their job or else we spend too much time on one job, which is what happened in my group. At the beginning, everyone was too focused on the drawing of the first panel and this wasted a lot of
World War I was known as the “war to end all wars,” and led to mass devastation throughout Europe. The four years of war all started with tension forming between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. After taking over Bosnia and Herzegovina, two regions Serbia wanted, Serbia vowed to take them away while Austria-Hungary vowed to destroy any effort made. Soon after, the nationalistic Black Hand who wanted to rid Bosnia of the Austrian control, shot Austria’s heir, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Afterwards, Austria wanted to punish Serbia and declared war on them. The assassination seemed to be what sparked the war, but rather there were much greater causes hidden beneath the surface. Instead, the underlying causes of World War I was
After a prolonged 43 years of peace in Europe between the major powers, things went sour. Tensions between the major countries arose, and the peace was destroyed by one of the most brutal conflicts in the world’s history: “The Great War”. The main countries entered The First World War because they were motivated by four things: militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. Each of the major power countries will enter the war for one of these reasons.
World War II was partly caused by the Versailles Treaty. The Treaty infuriated Germany by taking their money, land and resources, and blaming them for World War l. All of this made Germany want to rise to power and start another World War. One of the reasons Germany was so mad about the Treaty of Versailles is it blamed Germany for the war. The Treaty stated, “...Germany accepts the responsibility of Germany and her allies for causing all loss and damage.” (Doc D) Germany did not agree that they were responsible for all the damage of the war; they thought this was extremely unfair.
There were many underlying causes of the Great War, one of the primary reasons was the creation of alliances between countries. Another reason, which was helped by the alliances, was the fact that Serbia killed the Austria-Hungary archduke, causing the two of them to go to war. Altogether many people in the world were excited to go to war, wanting to prove how strong their country is and thinking it would be a quick war.
In the early 20th century, the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a Serbian, catapulted European powers into a string of events that led them to a World War. This war, known as the Great War, was caused by allied countries being sucked in one by one, and eventually, the United States had to make a decision: to join the war or to remain nuetral. Due to specific circumstances, such as the Zimmerman note and the sinking of US merchant ships, the United States government decided to enter the war on the side of the Triple Entente. This, however, stirred up controversy among the people of the United States, as some were pro-war and some were anti-war. The government, urging for the war, made arguments towards it through glorifying its political
Following the conclusion of the First World War, America began to flourish, especially through changes in technology, morality, and civil rights. Accompanying these developments came widespread discontent. Some argued with the old adage, “'If it ain't broke, don't fix it,”, while others insisted that constant advancements would lead to a better future for all. Best put by Donald Rea Hanson, to pick out reason for America’s prosperity “...would be difficult, if not impossible” (Doc C).
World War I was also known as the Great War, or the War to End All Wars. This war took place from 1914 to 1918. World War I was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28th, 1914, although a war was inevitable due to the tensions between European countries. The three main causes of World War I were nationalism, militarism, and alliances. Nationalism initiated war because citizens felt that it was their duty to defend their country’s honor.
In the days of the Second World War, the United States was thrusted into being the primary provider of supplies whether it was food or steel. This presented many challenges; how would the U.S. truly get out of the great depression? How would the country amply provide a work force in a world where males dominated the labor industry, the same males that would go off to fight the war? To answer these questions, we must look at several sources such as Roosevelt's famous fireside chats, how the U.S. population at home aided the war effort and the role of minorities.
World War II was a terrible time, and many people died during it, but sometimes war has to happen in order to find out what we really want. When they war started, different countries either joined the Allies or Axis, Germany, Italy, and Japan, were Axis. Great Britain, France, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China were the Allies. They had more people and they had a better plan, In the end they did everything better than axis, that is why they ended up winning the war.
In today’s digital age, development of new technology and weapons are at an alarming rate, hence arises the need to stay ahead of advancements in order to properly defend the nation, as well as coalition forces and allies. In this period of warfare, the number one threat comes in the form of air breathing and ballistic missiles. During World War II, this threat was present, but was not thought to be prevalent.
“A missing German U-boat is lost no longer”(Washington Post). This recent headline appeared in the Washington Post on 19 September 2017. A once lost German U-boat was found off the coast of Belgium at the bottom of the North Sea. This U-boat contained the bodies of the twenty three commanding men of the submarine. Authorities say the submarine was hit and sunk by a naval mine on the upper deck. Throughout the course of World War 1, U-boats were used to their full capacity sinking more than three hundred and fifty ships, while only 13 U-boats were destroyed. According to the Washington Post, they have over seventy six million months users. As a result of these monthly subscribers, seventy six million
World War 2 was a massive war which engulfed the whole world from 1939 – 1935. There were 2 different sides in the war. These two sides were the Allies and the axis. At the start of the war, the Allies consisted of Great Britain and all of its colonies (such as Australia) and France. The Axis consisted of Germany, Italy, Japan and the Soviet Union. At the start of the war the axis powers were dominating. Germany used “Blitzkrieg” (Lighting war) tactics very successfully and overran many countries using it. But some major events occurred and turned the tide of the war to the favour of the Allies. However two of these major events are most often talked about to be the reason that the axis powers eventually lost. One of these events includes the Japanese attack on pearl harbour. This brought America into the war and onto the side of the Allies. The other of the two events was instigated by Germany itself. Germany decided to attack one of their allies. This ally was the Soviet Union. There is often a lot of debate about which of these events is greatest, that is to have had the biggest effect in the war. So the question has to be asked, was it the US entrance into the war that made the defeat of Germany inevitable, or it caused by the German attack of the Soviet Union. In my opinion it was not the US entrance to the war, but the German invasion of the Soviet Union that made the ultimate defeat of Germany inevitable. This is because they put

Working in groups of four for this task, provided an excellent opportunity to build relationships and improve communication skills. Additionally, it allowed each person to contribute in an individual way and use their unique skills to benefit the group. To ensure we could achieve the best outcome in the group task, we nominated a group leader who ensured each group member understood what we were doing, divided roles so all work could be done and made sure deadlines were met. This was very effective in making sure
Reflecting back on the last few weeks I have come to realize how important it is to understand how to be an efficient leader, a good team member, and to understand the dynamics of a group. Everyone wants to achieve their goals. What better way to get there than to share the work? Groups are an effective way to reach your goals. One mind is always better than two. Warren Bennis once said “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” I have found this statement very true you need to see and prepare for your goal as a group. Being in a group is not just about leading or participating it is about becoming one. You need to have an equal balance, just like in the first module powerpoint Professor Allan refers to a group like the yin and yang symbol. There must be balance.
