According to (Yaxley, 2017), politicians like Tony Abbott refuse to accept climate change is real. As he claimed that it is having more positive affects than negative. He continued to dismiss the argument by saying that scientific truth should be decided by facts rather than truth. In addiction, he belittled climate change's affects by calling it a mere theory and that the policy is not worth the risk. And other liberal politicians such as Craig Kelly, agreed.
Climate change is one of today’s most hotly debated topic. Scientists for many decades have made supposed claims that current energy creation and reliance on fossil fuels will lead to inevitable changes to the planet. Today, climate change denial is still a popular to most of the world despite the mounds of evidence to support that it exists. The climate change issue suffers from being mismanaged by various parties through focusing on the wrong issues and the lack of true commitment from the general public, according to Sandra Steingraber.
Since being on the “green” side seems to make the politicians popular, many of them “stand up” to global warming. So environmentalists, among of whom are some politicians, hide or just ignore the facts regarding global warming and its true aspects.
Even though, the skeptics have their way of arguing against climate change, the proponents tend to persuade the public opinion using tactics of their own. Bob Inglis, former congressman of South Carolina, voices his argument;
On the other side of the argument we have anti-climate change activists, who are sceptical about the issue of climate change. They argue that climate change is an attention seeking stunt, and financial recognition of an irrelevant sector of the science community. Often just trying to convince people that climate change is a hoax.
Mr Campbell Newman was a popular lord mayor as a member of the Liberal Party, who served the Queensland government for three years from 2012 – 2015 (Lewis, 2015). In the recent 2015 Queensland state election, Newman was heavily punished by the public voters of Queensland as a result of treating the public servants unfairly by cutting jobs in contrast to his promises. He also claimed that there would be no forced redundancies and that he would try to lower the unemployment rate, yet these promises were never met. In support of this, the following essay argues that Campbell Newman didn’t interfere with the free market economy of Queensland, which can be beneficial for consumers in many ways because there is no government intervention. Instead,
In 2011, Jennifer Connell was attending her nephew, Sean, 8th birthday party, Connell walks into the backyard and upon seeing his aunt, Sean runs and jumps to hug her. Causing Connell to fall backwards landing on the ground and breaking her wrist in the process. Instead of doing something rash, like, accepting he is eight and it was an accident since the laws of physics are not clear to him yet, she did the rational thing. She filed a lawsuit - against the nephew. She claimed that the nephew had been "careless" and wanted $127,000 for emotional suffering and medical bills. In her claim she stated that she had recently attended a party and her inability to hold her "hors d'oeuvres plate was distressing and embarrassing. Deliberation lasted a mere twenty minutes. The jury awarded Jennifer Connell nothing.
Ever since the beginning, slavery has always been a growing conflict in the United States. However in the 1800s, it became such a problem that it nearly separated the whole country. Those that lived in southern states believed that they had the rights to own slaves. They argued that the slavery made up a fairly large part of their economy because slaves labor was cheap. This is why many of the big time planters were rich. Also, they felt African Americans were unfit to survive on their own. Northern citizens felt that there was no need for slavery and that it was wrong. But who is right regarding this situation. It all depends on the individual. The back and forth arguing between the north and south was intense, neither backing down from the
On the seventh day of the Scopes trial, the argument between Darrow and Bryan began to shake the people’s belief in creationism. Darrow asked Bryan a variety of questions regarding miracles such as the creation of Earth in six days, the exact time that God had created Earth, or the time period and the logic of the Flood. Instead of answering those questions with biblical contexts and clear explanations, Bryan repeatedly said “I don’t know,” or “I think there maybe” in between his answers. Despite of his assertion of the fact that human should not further doubt the validation of the Word of God, his answers for Darrow made him appeared as an unsure and flustered person. This image of Bryan, though unintentional, altered the public view of Christianity.
Particularly, Australia, which is one of the leading coal exporters of the world, is becoming the World largest global exporter of fossil fuel. There are investments in large scale to propose coal, oil and gas projects throughout the country. Consequently, Australia would seem have the potential of emitting one half of the global carbon emission budget. Thus climate change has aroused a huge controversy between the scientists and the Liberal Party government in terms of this emmisions. In this context Tim Flannery has been prominent among them.
On March 20, 2017 the Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada had an editorial published in Macleans where he was very critical of Quebec. Titled “How a snowstorm exposed Quebec’s real problem: social malaise”, Potter discussed the 300 cars that were stranded on a major highway during a snowstorm and many problems that he sees in Quebec society. The outrage following the publication article led to a retraction and apology from Potter, as well as the correction of some errors in the article. For their part, McGill University distanced themselves from the article, refusing to support Potter. The outrage also led to Potter’s resignation from his role as the Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada just two days
In my opinion, I think Zaroff is incorrect. I think this because if humans can’t get killed without being arrested then neither should he. If he made that his own country then he could kill all the people he wanted and I wouldn’t care at all if he makes it his law. He could do what he wanted. Unfortunately he isn’t so it’s very, very wrong.
We discussed the emotions, feelings, and what he is wanting when he "cuts", and when in his life this has produced his desired results. We also discussed alternatives to cutting. BC appears to be impulsive and has a difficult time thinking in the moment, so he was asked not to isolate when he becomes emotionally dysregulated. He was asked to get permission to go outside to either the back or front yard, and/or if possible go for a walk, to give himself a moment to think of other ways to self-sooth like writing his feelings down on paper or playing his guitar, something he says has worked in the past.
Within the pro-choice world there are many issues that are discussed like abortion, the instant where life begins and the use of contraceptives. This article will focus on not only the issue of using of contraceptives, but specifically the distribution of oral contraceptives (“the pill”) to teenage girls without their parent’s consent.
Over the past century, the Earth has experienced a dramatic change in temperature and we need to work to reverse it. Politicians have debated the idea of climate change for years now and nothing has really been done to improve the situation. Some politicians have been exposed to the facts about climate change, while others believe in a hypothetical theory that the Earth goes through “cycles”. The government needs to stop arguing and act now, to educate the public and regulate the phenomenon of climate change, before it is too late.
Waite and Gallagher also discuss the benefits that marriage gives to couples. Including the financial benefits, in that through specialization and by sharing incomes getting married boosts standard of living by thirty percent and this benefit is not incurred by cohabitating, as those who cohabitate do not share as much and are less committed to the wellbeing of their partner. In addition to the financial benefits, they also discuss the emotional benefits of knowing you have someone who loves you and who would take care of you. Children similarly benefit from having married parents as there are more financial resources available to help take care of them and they get to spend more time with at least one parent.
