When I first started yearbook, I expected to just look over the yearbook and fix mistakes from the first semester class. For example if they created a page I figured we would just edit it or look over it and adjust things. My expectations in ways matched how I figured it would go, but I also got to create new pages and have an opinion on pages and designs. When we first came to yearbook, we were told to explore the tools and mess with everything to get a feel for the website. We explored the images, designs, the format, and all the other tools. After a few days of exploring it we started to look into creating our own pages and presenting our own ideas. One of the things I took over or consider “my page” is the twin page where Alina and I worked …show more content…
In this aspect I was indeed correct, and we took many pictures. We also sorted the pictures and uploaded them to the computer. One of the hardest things I had to do in yearbook was try to match faces to names without a list. There weren't many cases where I had to do this, but when I did it was very difficult. When you are taking pictures at like the spelling bee or geography bee I would make sure to take way more pictures than what you think you need, cause it's better to have too many pictures than too little. We ended up not having many pictures for the spelling bee and it was a little complicated. Something I wish I had learnt earlier than what I did was that you could pick designs and layouts instead of trying to come up with one from nothing. When you choose a layout you have something to go off and it is a lot simpler then trying to come up with something from scratch. Also I didn't realize how to do format on the captions which was really useful to know when I figured it out. You could adjust the font and the blur or size. There were a lot of things that I could of guessed we would do, but I also learned a lot more than I thought I would. Being in yearbook showed me lots of editing tools and how to work together to get a good page. I got to come up with my own pages and work with my classmates to get the yearbook how we pictured it. My experience in yearbook was much more than I thought it to be, we learned more things than I anticipated. I learned many new things and worked with lots of new people. My time in yearbook made me more confident on giving my opinion and working on a computer. I got more familiar with faces and names, I also got more familiar with placing pictures where they look good on the page. I realized that you have to place pictures and captions where they look appealing on the page. You want it to be legible and eye catching, but not too much to where it’s a
End of junior year, I decided to sign up to be in yearbook for the following school year. A friend of mine and the future editor of the yearbook staff would always tell me stories of all the great times she had in the class. She claimed that yearbook members truly acted as a close knit family that was always behind you a hundred percent. After a short interview process, I was notified that I had been one of the few selected to have the opportunity to create a book of memories at my high school. The idea of what I thought the class would be like and how it actually was were two separate ideas in two completely different books.
I am eagerly willing to take the position of yearbook editor, as well as a student leader, during my senior year at ANC. I think I am good for this particular position due to the following reasons:
Creating a yearbook has a lot more to it than one may expect. At first, I thought it’d consist of taking lots of photos, using a creative mind, and good writing skills. I wanted to contribute by doing all of these things and using the best of my ability as well. I looked forward to taking plenty of clear photos, writing good captions and making clever headlines since I’m good with words and I wanted to go out and be more social.
Firstly, the unnecessary use of information in the captions made the yearbook seem too clustered.
However, just one accomplishment like that is simply not enough for the American population. Some students try too hard, by participating in school events and making good grades, just to get the attention they do not deserve. So, the people have spoken, and in several school systems across the United States, everyone obtains equal representation in the yearbook. If one person is mentioned five times, every student is mentioned five times. Of course, this rules out any racial, gender or sexuality bias caused by the creators of the yearbook, but that is not the important part of this tremendous change. The importance of equal representation is to get the students who truly deserve fame, those of who could not care less of school and their low standard morals, their rightful place in the yearbook. Their participation in the school, which could be considered null, is the most inspirational and moving part of the school systems, and represents each system with
Throughout my high school years, I have challenged myself to maintain a high GPA yet, be involved in various student organizations. I have learned to manage my time and to become a responsible student by fulfilling the requirements and duties of each organization. I am involved in National Honor Society, Educational Talent Search, Book Club, Art Club, and Technology Student Association. I was selected to become a National Honor Society member my sophomore year and was accepted because of outstanding academic achievement, good service to the community, and leadership. This organization has helped me grow as a person and it has allowed me to contribute to the community. We take part in activities such as the annual toy drive, Thanksgiving food
My article was about the dreaded freshman 15 and how it’s common for freshman students to gain weight during their first year. The article talks about if students actually gain 15 pounds just in their first year alone. Some studies have said that this is false, and the average weight gain is closer to around 7 and ½ pounds. While this isn’t so bad, the article goes on to show where all those calories will be coming from, and give tips as to how to avoid weight gain. The article mentions how to pick healthy food in the dining hall, and how to eat less while there. It advises also getting into habits of going to the gym and staying active alongside eating healthy. Lastly, it talks about snacking in between meals and drinking calories. The author
Assignment- Create a full spread (8.5 x 22 in), which will act as the opener for the freshmen section of the yearbook. Make sure to leave room for a headline and copy, which will be added after the completion of the design. Also design a background for the freshmen mug section; a single design will be used for all of the mug pages in this section.
The title “Windsor Harbor Yearbook staff” more or less reveals that this group works on the high school's yearbook. Being a part of the staff may seem like an easy task, however these individuals have responsibility than one may think. Other than creating a yearbook, the staff’s obligations include getting appropriate photos, making sure everyone can be included in the book, and interviewing students and teachers.
Within the due course of a lifetime, it seldom becomes apparent that an opportunity, which has the potential to metamorphose oneself, comes just close enough to grasp. It is in the present which I find myself within this position, similar to the prior-mentioned situation, of dreamily grasping at Westminster’s Honors Program for the hope of my own metamorphosis. For I know that, if I am to become a philosopher in the far future, which is my hope and goal, this program will aid me by introducing the rigor of my desired field at such an early stage of my scholarly development. Au contraire, referring to the theoretical benefit of this program towards my future, I believe that the Honors Program will find it quite advantageous to have me due to my vast knowledge, relative to other incoming Freshmen, of critical thinking, classical debate and logic. And it is not for pride that I say this, but, rather, it is because of my intensive independent
The book ‘My Freshman Year; What a Professor Learned by Becoming a Student’ has become a bestseller and is has become a source of policy inspiration for college administrator. The book details the findings of a professor who goes back to college and lives as a freshman. She registers at Northern Arizona University and conducts her study as a part of the student body. She lives in a dorm and takes a whole course load. The result is that she is able to attenuate student issues in a way no other anthropologist can or has done. The author’s exposure as Professor Cathy Small adds to the intrigue of the book. As with any other, she has a distinctive method, and there are several ways in which she establishes her position and power. The paper shall interrogate those methods using readings by Barbara Johnstone and Charles Murray.
Senior year has been bittersweet. On one hand I’m glad I’ll be done with high school. On the other hand though, I’m not quite ready for adult life. Senior year has probably been the best of my four years in high school. I liked getting more involved in school this year. I joined more clubs, and have joined big show. Before I never used to do so much in school. I don’t know what changed this year, but I have had a lot of fun with the different clubs and activities this year.
Montgomery Township is claimed to have some of the best schools in the country with many coming for its stellar education. This is due in part by with the new technology that was introduced, such as touchscreen desktop computers, chromebooks, and smartboards. However, it was not so long ago that this high tech was not present. Some in the Montgomery Upper Middle School(MUMS) say that the schools should go technology free for one week, saying that it will improve students emotionally and socially, while others claim that students will not be able to perform academically to the best of their abilities. This tech free week is a great idea because it can help student’s physically and academically, demonstrating that when technology takes over
Yearbooks are and will always, in my opinion, be a waste of money. You have colorful pages of overly excited students, half of which you had no idea existed. People that have never spoken to you before would ask for a signature in their yearbook. Unfortunately, my mother wanted memories from my childhood and demanded that I buy one. Flipping through the pages brings back countless memories, both honorable and despicable; what I think about the most are the people I’ve met throughout the years, that at one point were significant to me. Growing up making friends occurred naturally. You started a conversation-mostly being about your favorite kid shows- and you had successfully made a friend.
As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. This paper presents a reflection paper of how this
