What are the Four Inequality Notations?

Answer – The four inequality notations are <, >, ≤, and ≥.

Explanation:

Inequalities, as the name implies, indicate the relation between two unequal numbers or algebraic expressions. Unlike in equations where the two sides are equal, inequalities represent a comparison between the two sides.

The short-hand symbols used to show these comparisons are called inequality notations and include the following:

1. <, meaning less than

10 < 15

2. >, meaning greater than

12 > 3

3. ≤, meaning less than or equal to

30  3x + 3

4. ≥, meaning greater than or equal to

18  3 + 5y

While using any of the above inequality notations, the smaller value is placed next to the narrow end and the larger value is marked by the wider end: small < LARGE.
