What is a Googolplex?

Answer – A googolplex is a number that equals 10 raised to the power of a googol.

Explanation:

“Googol” is the term used to refer to 10 raised to the power of 100, or 1 followed by 100 zeros.

10100

“Googolplex,” on the other hand, is the name for 10 raised to the power of a googol, or 1 followed by a googol number of zeros. The expression for this as follows:

10googol = 1010100

Milton Sirotta, the nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, is credited for coining both terms. He invented them at the age of 9 in 1920, when Kasner asked him to come up with a name for a very large number. Kasner defined googolplex for the very first time in his book Mathematics and the Imagination.

A googleplex, however, is not the largest known number. It is much smaller than others such as Graham’s number or Skewes’s number.
