What is the Integral of a Constant?

Answer – The integral of a constant B with respect to a variable x is Bx + C, where C is an arbitrary constant.

Explanation:

B dx =B (x + c1) [c₁ is the constant of integration]

              = B x + B c1

The two constants B and c₁ can be combined and written as another arbitrary constant C.

 B dx = B x + C

Thus, the integral of a constant is the product of the constant and the variable being integrated added to an arbitrary constant.
