What Organs Are in the Circulatory System?

Answer – The circulatory system organs include the heart and the 3 types of blood vessels—arteries, veins, and capillaries.

Explanation:

The cardiovascular system, or the circulatory system, has two primary functions:

  • To aid in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the different parts of the body
  • To assist in the elimination of carbon dioxide and other waste products released by cells

The heart is the main organ of the circulatory system. It is muscular and pumps blood through various blood vessels. It receives oxygenated blood from the lungs for supply and sends deoxygenated blood to them for purification.

Based on what they transport, the blood vessels, which are also circulatory system organs, are grouped into 3 types.

1. Arteries: These transport oxygenated blood from the heart to all organs and tissues.

2. Veins: These transport deoxygenated blood from other parts of the body to the heart.

3. Capillaries: These are thin blood vessels connected to both arteries and veins. They enable the seamless exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and waste between the circulatory system and other organs.
