1) The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor is given by

   C0 = ε0A/d

Here,  ε0permittivity of free space

           A = area of each plate

           d = separation between the plates

2) The capacitance of parallel plate capacitor filled with dielectric, is given by

C' = Kε0A/d = KC0

Here, K = dielectric constant of inserted dielectric

3) The potential difference across the parallel plate capacitor , is given by

V0 = Q0/C0

Here,   C0Capacitance of capacitor

            Q0charge on the capacitor

and if an dielectric is inserted between the plates, then potential difference across the plates,will be

V' = Q0/C = Q0 /KC0         [ C = KC0 ]

V' = V0 /K

Here,  V0potential difference across plates when no dielectric is inserted

V' = potential difference across the plates when a dielectric is inserted

K = dielectric constant
