Question

A ____ wall passively stores heat.

A: Insolation

B: Albedo

C: Trombe

D: Albedo

Expert Solution
Step 1

Trombe wall passively stores heat.

The idea of Trombe wall is to absorb  and store solar energy during day time and slowly  release that heat during the night time into the living area of the house to keep the house warmer.

Step 2

Trombe wall is made of three different layers, the outer most layer is a thick glass facing the sun and the inner layer is high density wall (concrete /stone/brick wall). The space between glass and concrete wall is filed with some gas.

During day time high energy sun rays easily passes through the glass wall and gets trapped between the concrete wall and glass wall .

Because of the trapped sun rays the temperature of the gas increases to a very high value generally around 1000C and this heat is released into the house slowly during nights to keep the house warm.
