A load impedance of (200+j0) ohm is to be matched with a 50 ohm transmission line using a quarter wave transformer. What will be the value of the characteristic impedance of the quarter wave transformer.

Quarter wave transformer is an impedance matching device and it resides between the transmission line and the load.

The input side of the quarter wave transformer is connected to the transmission line and the output side is connected to the load.

If the impedance of the transmission line and the load impedance are having different values, then impedance matching is done by the quarter wave transformer.
