Optic nerve is the myelinated axons which come together at the optical disc. The ganglion cells of retina gives rise to these axons. The myelination of these axons takes place by oligodendrocytes. Optical disc is present in the back of the eye.
The optic nerve travels from optic disc and passes through eye socket to reach the underside of front of the brain. Here, optic nerve from each eye form an x- shaped structure together called optic chasm. From here half optic nerves from each eye travels to same side and other half travels to other side of brain. In brain, they reach toward the visual cortex which is present in the occipital lobe.
Hence, the correct option is 'e'
