describe how they are used.

Expert Solution
Step 1

Antimicrobial drugs  can be defined as the chemical substances of natural or synthetic origin that suppress the growth of, or destroy, micro-organisms including bacteria, fungi, helminths, protozoa and viruses.

Step 2:Antimicrobial drugs that are effective against fungi.

1-The imidazoles can be defined as the synthetic fungicides that  play the role in disruption of  ergosterol biosynthesis; they are mostly utilized in  the medical applications and also in agriculture  in order to keep  the seeds and harvested crops from molding. Examples  which includes the name of several drugs such as  miconazole, ketoconazole, and clotrimazole, which are used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm

2-The triazole drugs, including fluconazole, also  play the role in inhibiting the  ergosterol biosynthesis., their mode of administration  can be  oral or intravenous for the treatment of different  types of systemic yeast infections which  includes  oral thrush and cryptococcal meningitis, both of which are prevalent in patients with  suffering from AIDS.

3-The allylamines, can be defined as the  structurally different class of synthetic antifungal drugs, it can be  inhibited in  an earlier step in ergosterol biosynthesis. The most commonly used allylamine is terbinafine ,which is utilized topically for the treatment of dermatophytic skin infections like athlete’s foot, ringworm, and jock itch
