Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria and is highly contagious. It usually involves the lungs but spreads to other parts of the body like brain, kidneys and spine. It spreads through infected droplets released into the air. It is of two types-

latent tuberculosis- In this type, infection is present but the bacteria remains in an inactive form and so its asymptomatic. Its is inactive and non contagious.

Active tuberculosis- This types is symptomatic and highly contagious.

Symptoms- Coughing since three or more weeks

Coughing up blood

Pain in chest or pain during coughing or normal breathing

Fever

Fatigue

Chills

Night sweats

It is a disease of developing countries, the developed countries have eradicated this disease. It is due to poverty, poor life style, living in a crowded place, living with someone infected with this disease can easily cause tuberculosis.
