This tract begins from the mouth and extends upto the anus thereby forming a tube or canal, in which all the parts of the digestive system are connected to each other. Both the ends of the canal are opened for ingestion and egestion. The canal which holds the parts of the digestive system is also referred to as the alimentary canal.
