Implicit differentiation is a special case where we use well known chain rules to find the derivatives. We use Implicit differentiation when x does not lead direct to y.
In implicit differentiation we derive the equation with respect to x and then we make dy/dx as subject to calculate the derivative of y with respect to x implicitly.
Let us consider an equation x4 + 12 xy2 + 10y3 = 24
We need to calculate dy/dx . Here it is very difficult to make y as subject and calculate dy/dx explicitly, so we differentiate implicitly.
