The scale that ranges from the values 0-14 and is used to measure the acidity and basicity of a component is known as the pH scale. The pH scale values that lie between 0-7 indicate acidity, while the values lying within the range of 7-14 indicate basicity. The value 7 of a compound on a pH scale indicates that it is neither acidic nor basic and is neutral. Body fluids contain various components like cells, ions, and proteins. One of the components of body fluids is buffer. A crucial role is played by buffers in maintaining body fluid's pH due to their ability to oppose any change in pH. They absorb excess hydrogen ions (contribute to acidity) and hydroxyl ions (contribute to basicity), maintaining a constant pH.
