Question

Do the forces of friction and other contact forces are electrical in nature?

Expert Solution
Step 1

No. The forces of friction and other contact forces are not electrical in nature. Because, all the electrical forces are non-contact forces. They are experienced because electric charges create a electric field around them, and when other charges are brought in the field, they experience an electric force. So, they do not need contact to act.

But friction force, and other contact forces need conatct between two surfaces to act. So, they can not be electrical.
