Expert Solution
Step 1

The biosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere, and atmosphere are all terms that describe distinct realms of the Earth. The geosphere is made up of solid or rocky parts of the globe, the atmosphere is made up of air, the hydrosphere is made up of all water, and the biosphere is made up of all living organisms on the planet.

The geosphere is connected to the hydrosphere by providing basins and channels for water to flow and deposit, if it is used to refer to the lithosphere and rocky formations of the crust. As the hydrosphere's water does this, it also assists in weathering and eroding part of the geosphere's rock, as well as transporting sediment to produce new rock and new land at river mouths and along changes in marine currents. Water from the hydrosphere evaporates into the atmosphere and returns to the hydrosphere as rain, which connects the atmosphere to the hydrosphere.

When a parcel of air in the atmosphere becomes saturated with water, precipitation, such as rain or snow, can fall to the Earth's surface. Precipitation connects the hydrosphere with the geosphere by promoting erosion and weathering, surface processes that eventually break down large rocks into smaller ones.
