Explain Overland Trade and Disease

Expert Solution
Step 1: Introduction

Historically, there has been documented evidence of overland trade aiding the transmission of diseases. While in some instances trade has been just one of the factors aiding transmission, in several cases trade has been the primary factor causing transmission.

One of the biggest examples of trade and disease transmission going hand in hand is the Bubonic plague or Black Death (14th century) which originated in Asia and spread to Europe. Similarly, historical evidence has shown that port cities and other cities that acted as a hub of trading activity were more prone to disease and influenza attacks.
