Question

Explain totally and internally reversible heat transfer processes.

Expert Solution
Step 1

Internally reversible heat transfer processes are the heat transfer processes in which there are no irreversibilities within the system. In an internally reversible process, the irreversibilities may be present in the surroundings generally due to the heat transfer through a finite temperature difference.

Externally reversible heat transfer processes are the heat transfer processes in which there are no irreversibilities outside the system i.e. in the surroundings. In an externally reversible process, the irreversibilities may be present within the system generally due to the heat transfer through an infinitesimal temperature difference.
